The Outer Worlds censors a long list of names during character creation

Haha gotta say I laughed at polish ones. These are spot on :D
Now i'm double offended cause it looks like they targeted specific countries. Probably based on translations.
You Dutch people, can anyone confirm if the game has Dutch language? Cause i'm pissed i won't be able to call my character "Commie" in Polish, but i would be able to call him/her/it "Cancer whore" in Dutch (one sweet word) 😐

Update:

This has been removed by the first patch on PS4 at least. I haven't checked out the PC Version yet.

Really wonder why it made its way into the game in the first place. Glad its out.

Nice, although assplug wasn't on the list so my go to character name was safe.

See this is the kind of stuff i hate. I mean if it was a multiplayer game then yeah i get it, but telling you what names you can and cant use in a single player game?, thats a big no.

One of my favorite games this year.

But why even consider such a thing when its literally impossible to ban all offensive words?

Makes no sense whatsoever.

Good quotes on that image, OP.

The whole thing is still incredible weird. Why enable it in the first place in a single player rpg? Why such a hald assed implementation as well that can be circumvented by just adding another word?

Why remove it even with the first patch (As glad as I am that they did so)? They didn't really get as much backlash on this as it needed to or should have gotten,. (There was like one buried thread on the official forums about it).

:messenger_expressionless:

I'm glad they removed it, but I don't get what happened at all.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

It seems like something that was probably put in place somewhere in the development pipeline when multiplayer was on the roadmap. And then, just kinda left in place because it had already passed QA and they didn't want to break anything else by removing it. Then multiplayer was scrapped and again it was just kept in. Then the product shipped and nobody paid attention to it.

And then internet backlash happened, and they decided to invest in the QA required to properly remove it.
