This is still technically a rumour but based on the trailer we saw, I think it's very much confirmed that the switch will have an optical sensor allowing for traiditonal mouse support. This is based on the movements of the joycons sliding all over the place.
and well this.
Fantastic news all around right?
So let's look at it.
Both the joycons will have 6 inputs each unless I'm missing something obviously:
The 4 face buttons, ZR/L or R/R and the thumbstick pressed in. I'm ignoring the analog stick itself of course.
My question is. What craziness will Nintendo have in store with this feature? Some members mentioned a Fire Emblem with mouse controls.
It certainly might open itself up to more PC ports but I suppose there is a lack of inputs like a keyboard would have but when you open it up to perhaps using both joycon controllers for one player and having access to 12 inputs? Could be a game changer.
I'm thinking for an FPS it could be something.
Could the new Call of Duty take advantage of this?
Could there is a mode in Metroid Prime 4 specifically for this?
I have to believe they have something more in mind for this than merely a new Wario Ware with mini games or a new Mario paint.
Or is it just an easier way to get around their Nintendo Eshop
I think honestly there is massive potential in this control scheme. It could replace gyro as the preferred way to play Splatoon and then some.
What do you think? I would definetly like to hear more about this.
