OOOOOOHHHHHH.....fuck......How big was the text dump for this then? You don't think Kurapika's nen is complicated because the anime left out the full explanation for being too complicated.
In short he wouldn't fall into the same min maxing trap that happened with Kastro? I mean I "get" the deal with Kurapika's Nen, but Nen science is fucking complicated. It seems like Hisoka has the simplest Nen ability.if you want to know:
Suppose you're playing a Hunter x Hunter video game, and you're a Level 10 Conjurer who has 100 nen points. That means you can use Level 4 Enhancer abilities, since Conjurers have 40% proficiency in Enhancer nen, but that same limitation also means you can only allocate 40 nen points to Enhancer abilities, so you'll be worse at it than a Level 4 Enhancer and a Level 5 Transmuter.
Using Emperor Time, a Level 10 Conjurer Kurapika can allocate all 100 of his nen points to Enhancer abilities, but he's still limited to only Level 4 Enhancer powers. And the same applies to all other categories.
(note: Togashi goes into way too much detail about this shit)
Did you say...Hamon Overdrive?\
So old Joseph is the last of the regular Hamon users and everyone else just uses punch ghosts, right?
I don't think Kurapika's Nen is that complimented.on the other hand? Have fun figuring that shit out.Chrollo's
Lisa Lisa is alive as of Stardust Crusaders, but she's only briefly mentioned.
Also, there's a theory thatJoseph's stand (Hermit Purple) retroactively explains how Joseph is able to predict what people are gonna do or say, & possibly how he instinctively thought to bust out the Red Stone of Aja against Kars.
Joseph's a lazy ass, and people would question him if Suzi Q got old and he didn't.Also why does Joseph actually look his age? The rest of the old fogey Hamon users look young!
Cause Joseph didn't practice it, he merely adopted the Hamon. Lisa Lisa, Tom Petty and Straights were born in it, molded by it.Also why does Joseph actually look his age? The rest of the old fogey Hamon users look young!
Araki don't care
Even his wifes pose game is on point...Well he does look like a handsome actor type.
That is a man that kicks logic to the curb.Araki don't care
Jojo would make for one awkward as fuck family picnic. It's funny for jojothat Jotoro's uncle and grand uncle are younger than he is.
TechnicallyJojo would make for one awkward as fuck family picnic.
TechnicallyGiorno has two dads and one mom, with the dads being brother so he is the product of incest-bisexual-threesome
Joseph isn't one for hard work, so he's been slacking on his Hamon training. Also why does Joseph actually look his age? The rest of the old fogey Hamon users look young!
The biggest flaw of Part 2:
Araki missed a gureto opportunity to show off more Pillar Women.
Man God, did you see my request / submission?
Good looking enough toto bang a woman half his age if not younger.
Whammu's little sister can't possibly be this sexy. The biggest flaw of Part 2:
Araki missed a gureto opportunity to show off more Pillar Women.
It's very hard for me to accurately judge the ages of the milfs in Part 4.Wouldn't Josephhave been more like 59 when that happened since Josuke was like 10 during the events of Stardust Crusaders...maybe a lil younger.
afaik it's not really a sequel, it's a timeskip thing. Also, there's a sequel??? Why didn't they just continue with the OG?
Crap Puka's nen is pretty simple. How it got the way it got is a bit more complicated, and a bit bs, but it works and is kinda important that it does.
Is this a Jojo reference?

Don't worry they explain the chains more later and clear up some of thefusionMy understanding of Kurapika's nen is thus (I was saying this on the podcast but it's a discussion more suited to writing I think)
I assume for normal Kurtas, the red-eyes state is just a state of something like high testosterone or generally heightened sense/reflexes or whatnot. If a Kurta is a nen user, then their red-eyes state has an an additional effect on their nen (it just does). For Kurapika, it makes him a Specialist, and his Specialist power is "Emperor Time" which gives him """"100% Mastery"""" in the other nen categories. I dunno if it would be the same or different for other Kurtas, but that's a moot point anyway.
- Kurapika's a conjurer and he decided his conjuration was going to be chains. He calls it Chain Jail. He imposed a contract on this nen ability specifically such that he can only use this on Spiders, but it's now very very strong.
- He's also a Kurta. Kurta gain red eyes when their emotions are heightened sufficiently. This is just an innate ability that Kurtas have, and there's no other explanation (yet?) why this is the case, they just do.
Kurapika basically combines his Chain Jail contract (which activates against Spiders by decision) to his unique Kurta red-eyes nen effect (which innately activates against Spiders by emotion) to stack the deck in his favor.
If Kurapika is facing a non-Spider, he cannot use either Chain Jail (because of his contract) or Emperor Time (because his emotions won't activate, although it's not impossible his red eyes state could eventually be activated for another reason). He could develop and hone another conjuration though.
Something like that.
Dude the Kurtas are smurfs, they're not a battle tribe. My understanding of Kurapika's nen is thus (I was saying this on the podcast but it's a discussion more suited to writing I think)

I forget if they explicitly say so, but I always assumed Emperor Time is a general ability of Kurta, not Kurapika-specific. Uvogin even mentions that they were a tough fight. Kurapika's main use for Emperor Time is enabling Judgment Chain, which is a complex combination of Emission, Conjuration, and Manipulation. But it's also difficult to prepare, aim, and use without Chain Jail.
And yeah, Kurapika can develop other abilities in the future. But he'd have to do it the hard way, so he's still just average against non-Spiders. Normal chains and Holy Chain would still be useful, though.
