Top Director at Bungie Was Fired After Misconduct Investigation - Bloomberg

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Bumping this because Sony has replied to Chris's lawsuit

Barrett similarly told VICTIM 3, “I hope [your boyfriend] doesn’t mind I text you a lot” and “I just worry. Like I really enjoy texting you and talking. I don’t want him to get the right idea.” Later in the conversation, when VICTIM 3 told Barrett she was busy, Barrett stated, “I want your attention, so annoying.”

“Sony continues to disingenuously cherry pick text messages and alleged conversations and make unsupported and conclusory statements to defame Christopher and justify terminating him to avoid paying him what he was owed under his employment agreements. It is telling that Sony does not include the full text messages as exhibits, or the full content of these conversations, and nothing in Sony’s response provides a legitimate legal or factual basis to terminate Christopher for cause.

“Christopher is confident that when all the evidence is presented, it will be clear that Sony engaged in a scheme to strip him of his role and the equity awards he earned for his 25 years of loyal service to the company.”

Christopher has Sony right where he wants them

Just three weeks into VICTIM 5’s tenure at Bungie, Barrett called her late in the evening, while drunk, and told her intimate details about his personal life and asked her about who she was dating and what her “type” was. He sent her a personal Instagram follow request to connect that night, which she did not accept.

Imagine requesting to follow a female coworker on instagram while drunk and she declines. Later, she is categorized as your VICTIM 5 for the world to read about because of this. Rough day.

At least they have the foresight to not name names.

This is his wife. Bro got greedy, put him in horny jail for life

Proves nothing. Looks aren't everything. She could be a shrew who does nothing in bed and doesn't treat her man well.

I am not justifying his behavior if he was inappropriate, mind you. I'm just saying that having an attractive partner does not mean or prove anything when it comes to the other person cheating or being horny.

Barrett sent VICTIM 2 Instagram direct messages stating, “You are theholy grail. I hope you find a person worthy of your attention” andqualified it with, “I’m not hitting on you. I hope it doesn’t feel like that.I’m married. But I can be honest. You are the .000001 and better betreated like that forever.” When VICTIM 2 responded that her boyfriendtreats her very well, Barrett responded, “He better[.] Cuz i would hit onyou if he wasn’t.”

That's why whenever something like a guy got in trouble or whatever for sexual acts. I don't fully believe in it cause there's probably a lot of situations where he got in trouble when he wasn't doing anything bad or that bad. Like if a guy actually raped someone or force a woman against her will than yeah I understand that he should get in major trouble. But not things like simply saying a perverted comment which might not even be that perverted. Too many psychopaths these days tries to label people as racist, nazi, sexist, bigot etc when they aren't.

Messing around with coworkers is a young employees game. You learn from your mistakes. Seems like some guys get into high positions and feel like they can use it to their advantage... it's never worth it.

Make friends out of work, date outside of work... Keep your worlds apart.

I hear this all the time but growing up all I've ever seen is employees messing around with each other. At restaurants it was pretty much part of the job to bang the waitresses or at least try. I did it all the time.

My only tip to people was to never make the first move ever. It doesn't matter how sure you are that she's into you do not make the first move. I meet my wife at work and I never made the first move. She asked me for my number, FB profile, all of that stuff first and I gave it to her and just kept chatting with her. It wasn't until she came over to my apartment and made the first move physically that I then opened up a bit.

Yep my cousins wife is hot and she hates having sex. He only has sex like once a week. I was like "WTF are you doing?". I straight up tell every women I've ever been with that I need it daily and if that's to crazy for you I get it but we need to move on. Thankfully no women has ever had an issue with it.

It's not worth it at all even if they make the first move. Most relationships fail and now you have to work with the person. It makes for an awkward work situation. Even worse if there is a power dynamic at play.

Sure, it can work, it's just not worth it. There's plenty of fish in the sea. You don't shit where you eat.

This guy was married and you look at all the texts/messages he sent? Yeah, of course he got himself fired. There's really no question to this.

I agree with the power dynamic 100%. It should never happen if this person is below you or above you whether she makes the first move or not. As far as working together I don't think it's that much of an issue. I've seen it happen so much and most people are just grown adults about it and don't care. This is from highschool jobs all the way up to top energy companies. I remember one company had to shutdown their chat system (back when MS had Lync still) and spend over 1 month educating people on using the system and not to use it to hit on other employees. An hour long meeting that they did in each location all across the US. Once they were done they enabled it again and after a month my boss (CTO) said people were still doing the same shit and the company just kind of gave up.

People are not adults. That's the problem. Romance in the workplace almost always ends up hurting the work environment. The only question is to what degree. Does someone in QA dating someone in the art department hurt a game? Probably not. But it's not worth risking your career over hitting on girls just because they're more easily accessible to you. Like I said there's plenty of fish in the sea.

This guy has at least 5 junior female employees who all went to HR about him, which means there were probably even more that he was hitting on that just kept it to themselves. He thought he was being smart because they weren't direct reports, but no he wasn't being smart at all.

Even on slack if I had to message some people, I'd schedule the messages for work hours and it was always professional. The only time I hung out with my direct reports were at sanctioned work events, where I'd have maybe 1 or 2 drinks with them. When they went for after hours, I'd take my ass home.

My experience is that people are adults. Sure you are always going to have issues like the guy in this thread. IMO I think all this stuff looks bad because all we do is hear about the bad stuff. You don't see articles being written on two people who hooked up at work, it didn't workout, and they moved on with their lives.

The companies I worked at were all in downtown for a while and everyone going out to happy hour after work was very common. They weren't work related events just someone saying lets do happy hour and then we send messages to everyone we wanted to come and that's that. Lots of times we would run into other groups from the company doing the same thing.

The only guy I knew who got in trouble was the guy who broke the rule and hit on a female employee first. I bet even this guy was getting away with it for a long time before he got caught.

$45m is worth risking some public embarrassment.

Yeah he's fucked.

There's a chance he could have found work elsewhere.... now? Yeah, no chance, with all the details out? He's toast. Plus now the embarrassment for his wife, she'll probably divorce him and that's half his net worth right there...

They really went nuclear on his ass too. He's radioactive now.

I still get why he did this, $45m is generational wealth, his wife could even be on board with this, I've seen stranger things in life.

What's incriminating about this?
You don't have to do illegal things to be fired. You just have to be in breach of your employment contract. I'm 100% certain both the Bungie and Sony contracts had "don't harass(sexually or otherwise) your coworkers or you'll be fired" clause in them.

Flirting over text is perilous for the cringe meter

Reading his leaked DMs made me question how involved he actually was with the early Maroon 5 songwriting lol

She might have been on board with going after the money, but did she see the messages? Probably not, but more importantly now her family, friends, coworkers? have all seen the messages too. There's no coming back from that level of humiliation.

The irony is he always acts like fucking Rico Suave.

... When in reality it's more like Rico Retardo.
