TRASH. alex wasnt throwing enough. he kept faking punches but barely threw any
highlight of the card for me i hope ruffy gets all the bonusesthat KO, was so fast with the kick, when youre watching it live it didnt look like it even touched him.
Now you know why Jones wanted to fight Pereira
Pereira exposed.I know Alex isn't a prime technical fighter, but HOLLY SHIT
THIS IS 101 BOXING MISTAKE. LIKE FIRST CLASS.
ONE SHALL NOT CROSS FOOTING
Pereira exposed.
- Be the aggressor. Alex no idea what to do when backfooting
- Grapple and pin him against the fence (that boring smothering stuff). Alex no idea what to do to get out of it, or reverse it so the other guy is against the fence
- Head hunt. Alex doesn't have a great chin, not great head defence. He got stunned a few times by punches
Be the attacker and dont be like victims of Mike Tyson who stood there like lame ducks waiting to be beaten down. When he's being hunted down, he's definitely not as good as he looks. The UFC commentators even said Alex is a totally different fighter when on the defensive backfoot.
Pereira was terrified by the takedowns and he ended up fighting like dogbender, spamming leg kicks.
People lose and you mma fans romanticize things like win streaks, and legacy. Now Pereria can actually chase a belt and it must be nice to not carry around that weight.
Exactly.Poatan looked very focused yet very cautious; for good reasons. Investing in calf kicks is smart imho and like adesanya he's a patient fighter and it is obvious to a even room IQ person to see that the power/takedown-option/forward fearless pressure was a combination Alex hasn't really experienced at this level thus couldn't find his rhythm curtesy of said forward pressure and respecting Magomed's power and wrestling which in the end is a experience he needed and was long overdue.
Exactly.
When Alex isnt the hunter picking apart opponents backing up, the guy has no idea what he's doing.
Instead of backing up being chased, Ankalaev stepped forward, gave some calf kicks back, pinned him against the fence many times and punched him in the face. And Alex stood there looking clueless. Even the UFC commentators said he's not as good when being the guy being chased.
He doesnt even change his strategy when it was clear it's a close match and Ankalaev is doing all kinds of different things with sneaky punches or grappling. It's like he has one way of fighting..... be the aggressor, weaken the guy with leg kicks, punch him in the head.

Ank had better striking than expected of course, but i think the fear of takedowns was the major thing that made pereira timid.Think you're missing quite some aspects in your analysis/conclusion which by extenstion doesn't really resonate with my own, which I won't repeat, view on why the fight went the way it did.
Spot on. He's so likable.
Ank had better striking than expected of course, but i think the fear of takedowns was the major thing that made pereira timid.
Dude was so nervous that he asked to glover if his takedown defence was good or not after the end of the first round.
I said better striking than expected, not better striking than pereira.Nah. He doesn't have better striking.
We're talking in circles here; like I've said M's TD option just opened up his striking. Like Tom said if this was a straight up KB match Alex would be leuges above Magomed went it comes to "better" striking. Come on Wolf; can't you see that?
I said better striking than expected, not better striking than pereira.
Although i would give the speed advantage to ank.
Td threat opening space for the striking because ot idiminshed pereira aggressivity is what i'm saying since the beginning.
