Uh, that's cuz she is.
the bolded makes it sound like it's sony's fault, not capcoms
Man, this better be spot-on news to be dragging me away from encoding my Kickstarter pitch video. Check your PMs.
She was in SFxT, they just lifted those assets and put them into SF4. Same with Hugo, Rolento and Elena. Only Decapre is really new in Ultra, but she's heavily based on Cammy....
You can see here where Capcom got the idea of adding Poison to the game from.

They've stated a couple of times that the PC platform is interesting to them, because of emerging markets with a lot of growth like China, Russia and countries in South America where PC gaming is way more popular than consoles. They also make more money per copy on Steam (at the same prize point) than in , so that's not directly comparable.
Your post sounds pretty crazy.
Actually that's not official. Capcoms official stance on this is she is what you want her to be.
I love how when DriveClub and USFIV don't work it is Sony's fault, but when MCC doesn't work it is 343i's fault.
Makes sense.
It was at one point when they were afraid to take a stance. It's pretty much been accepted that she is a trans woman in recent years by both the fandom and Capcom. I'd say it was ever since this video came out with definitive proof of her original design.

It's Sony's fault hiring Other Ocean, it's Other Ocean's fault delivering garbage and it's Capcom's not overlooking its IP.
]343i to Halo is not the same as Other Ocean to Street Fighter. [/B]
Now if Sony were publishing SFV and Capcom were the developer , you can expect plenty of flak for Capcom if SFV turned out to be shit.
Basically this.
But as of right now, the official stance is she is what you want her to be. So for me Poison is a female.
Still think Halo:MCC is a bigger fuckup since developer in question is making the next one and it took so long to make the online stable.
The online for Halo 5 is already stable, according to people who've played the beta.
Also, it's not the same project.
Poison's hips don't lie. She's a she.
Trans girls can have hips too. And again, a trans girl is still a "she".
Originally conceived as a female thug in Final Fight and part of the game's antagonist group, Mad Gear, concerns during the game's development about reactions from North American audiences to fighting women, resulted in the character being re-imagined as a futanari. However, that was not considered satisfactory and both Poison and her palette swap Roxy were replaced by the male characters "Billy" and "Sid", and have been for every subsequent North American port of the title on Nintendo consoles and handhelds. After the Final Fight series she later appeared alongside wrestler Hugo, acting as his manager, with her schemes revolving around finding a tag team partner for him or developing their own wrestling organization. Poison was also to appear in both Capcom Fighting All-Stars and Final Fight: Streetwise; however, the former was canceled, and she was omitted from the latter as development progressed. Following those aborted attempts, she ended up appearing as a playable character on Street Fighter X Tekken. She was also added as a playable character to Ultra Street Fighter IV.[4]
The character's status as potentially a trans woman, consciously left ambiguous by the developers, has remained a topic of frequent debate by both fans and media alike.
The fact that 360 is now being used in a tournament which Sony spent a good chunk of dough on to begin their plan of associating Street Fighter with Playstation is nightmare PR enough. That prize money and the PS4 port itself are essentially wasted investments at a crucial time leading up to SFV.
Wiki on Poison. The character's gender has never been confirmed, although I thought I remembered Ono saying she was not transgender recently.
No, it has been confirmed, many times in different ways. There are design docs that label Poison as a "new half" (Japanese term for transgender), Ono confirming her trans status many years ago, profiles in official Capcom books, etc. A random wiki page doesn't tell the full story.
Street Fighter IV* 's producer Yoshinori Ono, when asked in an interview about the matter, stated "Let's set the record straight: In North America, Poison is officially a post-op trans woman. But in Japan, she simply tucks her business away to look female."
However in 2011 in an interview with Electronic Gaming Monthly at the Tokyo Game Show, he stated that Capcom "doesn't have a stance technically", and while they wouldn't give an official answer felt it was up to the viewer to decide. He added that his intent was to please all fans, and further that the mystery behind her gender was the core of the character.
Capcom is not developing SF5 in-house, as far as I know, and I know some people...
Technically, SF4 wasnt in-house either. They contracted Dimps to make the game.
What's the over under that we are going to have a similar thread for SF5 when it turns out Capcom contracted High Voltage to do the PC port? I almost wanted to say Other Ocean gets contracted but I don't think they are getting another Capcom or Sony contract for a while (like until there has been enough distance on this and they cone in as cheapest port house again).
Like I said earlier in this thread, this is what happens when you go for the lowest cost possible in order to earn a bigger return. Has Sony fallen on their sword yet? I have only seen Capcom say its all Sony and Other Oceans fault and then Other Ocean say they are working closely with Sony and Capcom.
My stance remains "who cares?" I like the character design.
Cross platform play means nothing like this is going to happen.
Let me try to stay on topic here: where is the changelog of that patch though? Gio you were supposed to keep us informed and you're doing a horrible job at it![]()
Hey, guess what? Trans women are women too! So, yeah, she's female.
But if you're really like to argue the point, I'd absolutely love to hear your explanation for why her gender identity specifically matters to you.
But as of right now, the official stance is she is what you want her to be. So for me Poison is a female.

The oficial isntance only came as close to say that she did sexual reasignmnent surgery in the usa and not in japan.
There is absolutly NO OFICIAL STATEMENT that says she is a cis woman.

It's amazing no one at Micrsoft is capitalizing on this, it's such a good oportunity for good PR.
It will be interesting to see just how much of an input lag advantage one system can get over the other during cross platform play.
So to me she's a female.
Anyways, not trying to argue about this. She is what you want her to be to you. stop trying to change how I view things. I'm not trying to change yours.

There's not really any good PR to be gained by pointing this out, really. If anything it would just come of as snarky and combative.

Don't trust Capcom again Sony.
You done fucked it up!
