Finished my last Ace Attorney Collection (Chronicles). I spent something along 300 hours combined in all of them, so now it's kinda sad that it's ended. Now to Trails through Daybreak II, I think.

I’ve been bouncing between a few games, trying to find the right balance between something engaging and something more casual. Some days I’m in the mood for an RPG with deep mechanics, and other days I just need something light to unwind - like eggy car, which always manages to pull me back in when I least expect it.

Finished the Burning Shores Horizon DLC. Amazing visuals and an Ok story that only outlines, probably, the story of the third game. The third Horizon will look amazing.
Started Rise of the Ronin and it's almost a Japanese Assassin's Creed. The visuals could be better, sometimes it looks like a PS3 game and the pop in can be very distracting, but the playability is very good, although can be very complex to change weapons and styles when fighting a lot of enemies.

just beat Ganon in totk !! got dam what a ride put 265 hours in this game only game i stuck to since it was released fukking played nothing else except some mario kart put in the last 70 hours since after christmas to get this game done once and for all and get ready for gta 6 i need a break lol i barely been sleeping and skipping meals/calories too oh man i'm giddy i'm free this game was sick but I thought I'd never beat it at the pace I was going at, but I didn't realize that I was screwing myself over when I was playing it because my room was too cold and i was just wearing a tank top and a tee. it was hard to focus/think and then I started putting on layers and a jacket and covered myself with a blanket to keep me warm and all of sudden I was able to focus and lock in better and get more sessions in consistently. this habit is going to carry on for the next games i begin and hopefully will be able to complete at a faster pace i just want to be able to turn on a switch and focus which I should be able to now. going through winter now and playing this game where Link would get too cold or too hot when visiting the different biomes and how he had to wear the right apparel and eat the right food to function made me think about how different temperatures affected me and I pay attention all the time to the weather and what I'm wearing and if I want to heat up or cool down. game was an epic journey and I'm happy to have went through it. probably going to pick up the guide to see what I missed and just read for fun

I completed the Giza section of Indiana Jones this past weekend.

I'm usually a huge fan of Egypt section but this one somewhat didn't do it for me. Liked the Vatican a lot more. It felt like it had even more collectables (most of which I ditched). Only completed the Field Work missions and a few of the mysteries. Gonna do the rest probably when the PS5 version hits.

Anyway, will do the next section next weekend. Like the game overall so far. Solid plot and riddles and an actually cool and somewhat unique villain. Color me surprised.

I'm in the latter part of FF7 rebirth now. Whoever came up with Chocobos needs to be publicly humiliated, they have two speeds: too slow and too fast, they handle like drunken shopping trolleys. And being forced to play as Cait Sith is a crime.

Started playing Road 96 for a change of pace from giant jrpgs - interesting artsy/indie game about running for the border

Playing Avowed and recently downloaded two Metroidvanias on sale: Biomorph and Frontier Hunter. These will be my next 3 games. Biding time until Atomfall comes out.

Beat Shibata Katusie. One of the toughest fights in the game, before the DLC anyway. Started to see Flying Kato armor now, which is much better than the Fuma ninja gear I've been using. I need to grab the smithing text from Kato Danzo who is a pretty irritating boss with the build I'm using.

Once I beat Nioh 2 and the DLC, I think I'm going to play Wo Long again. Probably play the Stranger of Paradise game, too.

So after ninja gaiden, I found that itagaki had been involved in something called "Wanted Dead".

Looks like one of the worst reviewed games of the year lol. I thought maybe it was a case of old legend losing his touch. Like Naka and Balan Wonderworld. It's on sale for 7 or 8 bucks right now so I wanted to see for myself. The other option was to play revengence again because NG2 lit my fire but couldn't put it out.

This game is.... very interesting. I can see how it got panned in reviews but I'm not convinced it's actually bad at all. In fact, it may be quite good. I can't tell yet. Only that I am on a deceptively steep learning curve and I'm juuuuuust starting to wrangle this system.

It's very unique. Heavy on tps elements for an action game. And it's not that kind of action game. Not a character action game at all, though it looks like it at first glance. Not dark souls either. Or a beatemup. I find it hard to compare. There's a ps2 game called The Red Star that it reminds me of for some reason.

I have been fascinated by it since I started playing on the weekend, so I went to look for tips on youtube. I found that Electric Underground is a huge fan! Apparently the only one lol. I love his channel and respect his ideas on games so that was a little vindicating compared to everyone but me saying the game is awful.

And I loooooove the mc. Coming off NG2 where ryu is one of the most boring mc's I can imagine, this one is great. A good silhouette, color scheme, expressive face and eyes, just enough twists on a generic action character design. And her voice actress sounds like... Tommy Wiseau?? That's another thing I think most will hate or mock, but I love it.

I finished Guns of Fury and had a great time with it, the map and fast travel are kind of bad though so I'm not motivated at all to get 100% completion in it. Already wandered around the world enough just looking for story completion.

After that I went back Donkey Kong Country Returns which I was just over halfway through. The second half of this game is just banger after banger though, damn. Sometimes you play a remaster of one you haven't touched in a long while and go "Oh... I guess it's not quite as good as I remember", but not this one. Might still be my favorite 2D platformer and very happy to have it on HD on Switch. And I still like it more than Tropical Freeze!

Finally took the time to finish Miasma Chronicles after taking a long break from it. It's a very good game, especially if you like the XCOM genre and enjoyed Mutant Year Zero. The authors definitely learned some things from their previous game and this time it's not so linear and the safe havens are actual places to explore. Some locations in the game are gorgeous and the 'flowing' miasma is giving them pretty unique look, even if you're used to post-apocalyptic environments. The gameplay expands on MYZ and I generally liked it (especially ambushing enemies), except for the fact that Elvis and his robot buddy are always in the active team, so you're only allowed to choose the final third team member yourself.

I didn't really like the story and the dialogues were pretty badly written, but I don't play XCOM clones for that and if the turn-based combat system is good then I'm satisfied. The final boss fight also could've been better, it's more like a puzzle you have to figure out only when doing your first playthrough. Overall I liked the game and I hope that the studio is working on some new project. Maybe Mutant Year One? ;)

I am just a fucking mess with gaming.

I was initially grooving to Granblue Fantasy: Relink because I like the combat. But the HUD is too busy, the on screen effects are too busy, and the cutscenes are getting out of hand. I stopped playing.

I have been playing Ninja Gaiden 2 Black but only from statute save point to statue save point. That game is intense, even on easy lol.

I installed Final Fantasy XVI again. Perhaps this time I will stick with it...

Just finished the game. Love the whole experience bar the bloody water puzzle! Not sure if I should wait for the remaster of Onimusha 2 in May or start the PS2 version now.

Nioh 2
Beat the main game and now the DLC awaits! This is one of my favourite games of all time, but I've never really played the DLC, so I'm excited to start the first later tonight.

Tempted to actually start the Dawn of Dreams Onimusha game or perhaps start a PS2 Castlevania.

I just plated Prince of Persia and the lost crown. Really awesome game, shame that it seemingly bombed because I had a blast. Only thing I really didn't care for was the challenges. Thank the Lord they weren't required for the platinum, I might have just skipped at that point.

I started up Monster boy and the cursed kingdom. I'm really liking it so far but I just got to the volcano level and boy, is it putting me off of the game. I don't mind a challenge, actually prefer it in these type of games, but this world seemed to take it up a far notch. Not only that, but the game was pretty simple to figure out where to go and such before here. But I feel like I keep getting lost or need to backtrack more often. I think I'm around the midway point of the game (just basing it off of map found) but I hope this world is a one off and the rest of the game isn't like this. It really had a good thing going and now it feels kinda blah.

I think the game had a pretty substantial patch well after launch that changed a lot of the balancing/difficulty so it's hard to trust reviews on this one.

I looked at the patch notes and it's hard to tell how much it changed without playing it before. Looks like it couldn't have hurt, though.

I'm stil playing and the game has really got me now. So fun.

Indiana jones. I think im getting pretty far into it now. My favourite parts of the game so far where I’m in underground and you gotta solve quite a few puzzles. Love these sections where your surrounded by rock and dirt and using your lighter to see where your going.

A weird ass indie FPS inspired about taking drugs, going into slow mo, kicking mother fuckers and robbing their guns to kill more looking like the protag from Bloodborne. There's a demo to try before you think about buying. So yeah... Victorian drug fueled nut kicking and mass butchery. You are welcome.

I bought Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This is odd for me.

1. I don't care for the whole pirate thing. I don't dislike it, but it doesn't do anything for me.
2. I don't care for naval combat in games.
3. I own Yakuza: Kiwami and also 0 but haven't played them.
4. I know what the Like a Dragon franchise is and why they're liked although I don't play them.

I tried the demo of PYiH and it was a fun beat'emup with some wacky shit thrown in like a shark attack super move. I'm dying for the wave of upcoming action games to release so here we are kicking the crap out of comfort zones, shitheels!

Mostly just playing Avowed which is my favourite RPG in some time. But I load up a few other games time to time:

Shady Part of Me - indie puzzle adventure that takes its inspiration from many games, especially the ones that make you control two characters. In this case it is a girl and her shadow. There is a little bit of Limbo in there, a little bit of Braid and few other games. Not bad but not super exciting either so I just play one level per day.

Conscript - A challenging pixelart Resident Evil homage set in the trenches of WW1 France. Not a lot of save points so a stupid, unexpected death can be frustrating. Combat is also intentionally slow so don't expect a walk in the park. But I really like the mood and exploration.

Bright Memory: Infinite - Just zipped through it in what felt like 3 hours max. It's kind of fun while you play but absolutely forgettable. It has been 4 days since I finished it and I don't remember what the story was even about.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - I want to fully invest in it after I'm done with Avowed because the game is amazing and a great sequel that feels instantly familiar yet different enough not to feel like a rehash.

I recently played through Crypt Custodian and looked up the other games the same developer made, so I ended up playing through his first game, Sheepo which was a simple but really great feeling "metroidvania" too and now I am finally playing Islets which was before Crypt Custodian. This developer knows how to make a game FEEL great, just zooming about the levels and looking for secrets, hitting pots and enemies and walls, it all feels amazing.

Oh and all 3 look and run great on Steam Deck.

Make sure to check them out if you want some chill and not overly miserable looking metroidvanias as they are quite whimsical on the surface but the mechanics feel great.

Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III Japan) [NES]
I finally unlocked expansion audio in my NA NES - and now I finally get to experience this game in all its glory.
Im convinced this is easily one of the best videogames of all time - maybe even the single best.
Pacing, colors, level variety, timeless bosses, challenge, controls, music/sound. It has it all.
Sheer videogame perfection.

Gaiaseed [PS1]
Definitely one of the more obscure hidden gems in gaming history.
A weird and strange shmup - feels like a spiritual successor to the Genesis' BioHazard Battle.
Almost impossible the describe the strangeness of some of the last bosses - original!
The PS3 port is plagued with input lag. Plays a billion times better on PS1 hardware.

Wo Long: Fallen Dyntasy
Decided to start this before jumping into the Nioh 2 DLC. I played Wo Long when it was released, beat it, and thought "Yeah, not bad." I don't know if it's because I've been enjoying games a lot more lately, but I'm having soooo much fun with this on my second time playing. Combat is satisfying with the parries and despite some of the encounters being tough, it just feels...relaxing. That might be because there's not an overwhelming amount of systems or mechanics. The music plays a part too; Lots of soothing themes. I think the stage/level 'In Search of the Immortal Wizard' is one of my favourite that Team Ninja has created. I'm currently on the main battlefield after that one and it's a bit of a contrast with the whole dungeon setting. I'm using an ice build at the moment with a few points in the fire tree to unlock the damage-boosting skill.

Onimusha Dawn of Dreams

Started this last night and put in a couple of hours. It's really good, isn't it? Like the second game, I'm happy they added mechanics like the shop, gold, and a skill system that you can upgrade. Looking forward to playing more of this over the weekend.

Just finished Gears 5.

What a shitshow.
They really thought Gears fans were going to fall in love with Kait, apparently.
Everything about this game was significantly worse than the other games. Other than the graphics, of course.
I hated the whole experience.

2/10

Now that I've completely finished the Gears series (in a single two month stretch), I'm going to give my ranking.
In order of how much I enjoyed the experience of playing them.

1. Gears of War 2
2. Gears of War
3. Gears of War Judgement
4. Gears of War 4
5. Gears of War 3
6. Gears 5

If I were including Gears Tactics, it would come in at #2.

I’m on the last case of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter, and it’s been decent overall. The gameplay has its moments, but some parts feel off, especially the forced action bits.
