While I agree that we'll eventually go to an all streaming future, I personally think PC will get there long before consoles will stop existing.I think some poeple need to accept that we have maybe 2 more hardware generations after this one, and thats talking like 20 years into the future. I'll be very surprised if one, or both, Xbox and Playstation are not streaming only by then.
Nintendo live in their own dream world so who knows what they will do.
You just have to remember how bad internet was 20 years ago to how it is today, then think what the internet will be like in 20 years from now.
Imo both Xbox and Playstation will be streaming subsciption services that you play on pretty much any of your devices. So slowly bring exclusive games to new players over the coming years, well that could certainly give you a head start when everything goes streaming only.
Just my personnal take of course. Its part of the reson why i'm PC only as no one owns PC and PC gamers simply wont accept a streaming only future when hardware is such an important part of gaming to them. And obviosly the gpu and cpu makers wont be pushing for a streaming only future on PC when hardware is their main business.
“cut your nose off despite your face move” WTF.Poor TimDog..I get so much joy seeing these shilling bitches get a reality check. All that whoring and shilling for a brand that has delivered nothing substantial or moved the market has gotten them nothing.![]()
MS shills, I swear...![]()
Lets just wait and see what happens. I hope i'm wrong but i feel the only thing i could be wrong about is the timeline. It certainly IS going to happen though.
Microsoft just shot themselves in the foot.Poor TimDog..I get so much joy seeing these shilling bitches get a reality check. All that whoring and shilling for a brand that has delivered nothing substantial or moved the market has gotten them nothing.![]()
I also feel like GamePass itself should be better promoted on PC.
Not to mention there is no indication that all the console discounts for the holiday moved the needle in any meaningful way. If it had, MS would be screaming through the rooftops about it. Instead? Crickets. This makes sense from a buisness standpoint because microsoft bought so much shit and to have it not sell well and locked to 3rd place xbox doesnt seem like good buisness
I really do think Microsoft is going to redefine what it means to be a platform holder moving forward.
They aren't abandoning their platform/hardware but they also aren't going to be afraid to publish games on rival platforms.
Shprokets?! Or however you spell it, I totally forgot about this skit, SNL used to be so good.
Their Xbox business has been gone for a while. This move at least allows them to recover some revenue.Microsoft just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about American culture (I'm an expert), but being an asshole is a huge part of it. It's not like it is in Japanese culture where you can become successful by being honorable. If you honor someone over in America, you bring weakness to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that weakness is to be an asshole.
What this means is the American public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Hi-Fi Rush for either system, nor will they purchase any of Microsoft's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Microsoft has alienated an entire market with this move.
Microsoft, publicly apologize and cancel Hi-Fi Rush for Nintendo Switch or you can kiss your business goodbye.
Streaming is the future. Even dedicaced gaming hardware like consoles will have to adapt. But somehow PC, who is under a monopolistic Microsoft who openly want to make their next Windows a subscription service, won't accept a streaming only future. Somehow PC, with offers like Stadia(too soon) Geforce Now and Gamepass, will resist it better than Playstation? Somehow Nvidia, who is a IA provider now, will fight for gaming when they let them die to the crypto boom? And AMD will just let Sony go away for a cloud based offer that don't need their tech at all when they are one of their biggest clients?I think some poeple need to accept that we have maybe 2 more hardware generations after this one, and thats talking like 20 years into the future. I'll be very surprised if one, or both, Xbox and Playstation are not streaming only by then.

Fixed it for you. It’s really Xbox only more at this point. Had they not held onto incompetent jackssses like Matt Booty and Phil Spencer for so long we could (and should) be looking at a very different picture. As much as Microsoft has been horrible for the past decade of Xbox under Phil. This would be a bad thing for FANBOYS, and pushing price per performance limits with every generation.

Remember they get their mouthpieces in the media to throw out there ideas to get ahead of the backlash.![]()
Rumors suggest Xbox is bringing more games to Nintendo Switch and PS5, but what's the truth?
Another year, another round of third-party rumors.www.windowscentral.com
At this point way too many sources are saying the same thing. I guess it's about to happen.
As I don't dabble in much multiplayer, I have not really heard anything on the matter since 2019-2020 when MS was publicly flogging Sony for the crossplay policies.Interesting enough it was MS who didn't want crossplay in the 360/PS3 days
As cool as this sneak peek was, Trion can't let the finished Xbox 360 game connect to the PS3. "Microsoft won't let Sony players play against them," Rodberg said, before suggesting we change the topic to something less sensitive. Presumably the barrier is a corporate and/or technical incompatibility between the Xbox 360's Xbox Live and Sony's PS3/PSP PlayStation Network. Those services are separate enough that people who play, say, Call of Duty on one, can't play that game against owners of the other, rival console.
I checked with Microsoft to be sure Rodberg wasn't maybe just mis-hearing them. Maybe Microsoft wanted to break the barrier too? Here's a Microsoft spokesperson saying "no," while promoting how awesome the Xbox 360's online service is: "Xbox Live delivers the best entertainment experience unmatched by anyone else, with 35 million actively engaged members. We have a high level of expectation for our game developers to ensure that all Live experiences remain top notch. Because we can't guarantee this level of quality, or control the player experience on other consoles or gaming networks, we currently do not open our network to games that allow this cross-over capability."

too much ego from Bungie to work on a Halo game againIt would be advantageous for Microsoft and Bungie to work together again on Halo. Bring some hype and prestige back to the franchise and help Bungie out with their pipeline that is too dependent on GaaS.
Microsoft and Bungie get revenue and Sony gets a version on PS5, maybe even ports of MCC.
Microsoft as a Publisher needs to completely evolve from Microsoft as a platform holder. Similar to what they did with Rare and Nintendo in order to get Goldeneye.
ok?Throughout the years, there have been numerous instances of a video game console manufacturer publishing games for competitors' consoles.
During the period from 1982 to 1984, the three biggest console makers were Atari, Mattel, and Coleco. All of them published games for rival consoles, as well as for home computers.
Redefine "platform holder", or "3rd party publisher"?I really do think Microsoft is going to redefine what it means to be a platform holder moving forward.
They aren't abandoning their platform/hardware but they also aren't going to be afraid to publish games on rival platforms.
Myself and many others....Poor TimDog..I get so much joy seeing these shilling bitches get a reality check. All that whoring and shilling for a brand that has delivered nothing substantial or moved the market has gotten![]()
Why? Dropping the Xbox name and X logo would be like Sony dropping the Playstation name and PS logo. Makes no sense. A logo is important for brand recognition, would be better to remove PC from PC Gamepass because nobody talk about it that way and eventually the launcher will be the same no matter where it’s launched. My point is I would separate the XBOX branding from PC entirely and as much as possible. If indeed they want to exit the console space I would lose the XBOX branding entirely and I think they will eventually do this. You'll see.
Consumers? As much as Microsoft has been horrible for the past decade of Xbox under Phil. This would be a bad thing for consumers, and pushing price per performance limits with every generation.
Is that like an internet joke or did he completely botch the expression? Because WTF is right“cut your nose off despite your face move” WTF.
too much ego from Bungie to work on a Halo game again
The question would be if Sony would even allow Bungie to do so.too much ego from Bungie to work on a Halo game again
of course not.The question would be if Sony would even allow Bungie to do so.
different. That's like saying Bungie would never let another company own them again because of their ego.
The reality is never say never in life.
I think we can assume that Microsoft will still keep supporting Xbox Series for the rest of the generation, but by the end of the year they'll largely be a 3rd party publisher, with maybe some of their highest profile games coming to Xbox before PS5 and Nintendo systems.
This isn't even a question. However it it is you can find your answer here...The question would be if Sony would even allow Bungie to do so.
Some of my best friends are normal...I have lots of normal friends, honest.
Poor TimDog..I get so much joy seeing these shilling bitches get a reality check. All that whoring and shilling for a brand that has delivered nothing substantial or moved the market has gotten them nothing.
And then they died. Quantity instead of quality was the cause of their downfall. Or at least Nintendo believed so. Now Nintendo and Sony have a healthy business and don't need or want to do so. Xbox needs to do so, or at least think it have to. Not the same situation at all.Throughout the years, there have been numerous instances of a video game console manufacturer publishing games for competitors' consoles.
During the period from 1982 to 1984, the three biggest console makers were Atari, Mattel, and Coleco. All of them published games for rival consoles, as well as for home computers.
