still too high
One of my patients today said he was excited to see it tonight. I started to voice my own reservations when he went off on how much he enjoyed The Cobbler.Half of that is Sandler's fanbase that will watch anything.

Variety is reporting a close race between Ant-Man and Pixels for first place this weekend. It also looks like Minions is having another shitty weekend hold. I wouldn't mind seeing Inside Out finish on top for animated films this year domestically.

A lot of my students read John Green, and even they think Paper Towns is trash. They all love Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars.John Greene is such a trash writer, it's upsetting how successful he's been. I've had the displeasure of reading his 3 most popular novels due to recommendations. He's pretty much Nicholas Sparks for tweeners. Is Paper Towns expected to blow up like Fault in Our Stars?
I wonder what that one movie is. I was gonna say ASM 2, but that was in May.
The Equalizer.
22 Jump Street was just before the arbitrary cut off date though.

For the weekend? Damn. I thought it'd be huge. Wonder how it'll do internationally.
i actually enjoyed that's my boy but yeah this sandler reign of terror has to end soon
Inside Out was the best Pixar film in years, and was probably made better by the fact that I have a daughter who is about a year and a half old. I'm glad to see that audiences are rewarding Pixar's return to something original, even if I am unsure what children are getting out of this film. I guess it was colorful.
So in a very rare post-parenthood event, I managed to catch two films in the past week: Jurassic World and Inside Out.
I have no idea why critics were so lenient on Jurassic World. The dialogue and plot were terrible to the point that it detracted from everything else, even if you go in expecting a dumb but entertaining action film. I'd put it on par with something like Attack of the Clones. The effects were nice, and a few of the action sequences were well done. Not so much everything else. It's clearly resonating with its audience however, so kudos to Universal, even if I will probably skip out on the next film.

the infinity war will have thanos get the infinity gauntlet so he can finally achieve his wish of being a dinosaur. and then in part 2 the only way to fight back is to have everyone be dinosaurs. iron man builds a dinosaur suit, thor visits the dinosaur gods, and spider-man is bitten by a radioactive dinosaur, which starts to overpower his radioactive spider blood.

Friday Studio Estimates
1) Pixels - $9.2m
2) Ant-man - $7.2m
3) Minions - $6.7m
4) Paper Towns - $6.3m
5) South Paw - $6.2m
Ant-man or maybe Minions will win the weekend.

Interesting that minions continues to drop hard each week. Might not make 1 billion ww after all?
The performance of JW2 will be very interesting. Many wanted to see JW, but many impressions were negative. Just like with FF funnily enough.

What's FF?
Minions hit the cliff.
If I remember the numbers correctly (again these numbers are from my theater I work at) this is what I think will happen:
1. Antman
2. Pixels
3. Southpaw
4. Paper Towns
5. Inside Out
Your place not show minions? Or Trainwreck?
We don't know ww intake, do we. Age of Extinction and On Stranger Tides both beat 1 bil despite <250 mil domestic gross.
Fast and Furious?
It's at $405 million international, $655 million WW.
My first thought was Fantastic Four, but that's not out yet.

I only really looked at the admissions for those movies. Minions had around 400 if I remember correctly to a pixels 600 and Antman 650.
So:
1. Antman
2. Pixels
3. Minions
4. Southpaw
5. Paper Towns
I highly doubt Southpaw is gonna make the top 5. Replace that with Trainwreck.
Minions was actually at $458m overseas as of the end of Thursday. With China ahead, one billion will happen
I thought most fans liked F7 though? Maybe I'm conflating box office performance with reception.
The domestic top 10 is kinda interesting:
2 Camerons
2 Star Wars
2 Avengers
2 Batmans,
a Shrek, and some Dinosaurs.
Whedon not big enough to get 2 Whedons.
Nor is Nolan big enough to get 2 Nolans. Only Papa Cameron is big enough.
Or Lucas!
Minions is still a huge success. Universal was able to squeeze in a 1B spinoff before DM3.
I almost went there.
So soon there will be a 3rd Star Wars, but no love for Abrams, right?
