Wuthering Waves |OT| - Devil May Impact

Thick Thighs Save Lives

I've a few healers both S and A ranks incl. Verina's on my 3rd team and I need to build her first - for now I'm focusing all my efforts to build Zhezhi, Lumi, Carlotta and Rover. Baizhi is level 50 but it's pointless to have two supports on the team so I have her on my 2nd team cuz Carlotta gets a lot of buffs from Zhezhi so...

Btw, got some extremely good S rank echo with Crit Rate buff from the base and sub stat so now I've 35% Crit Rate and 208% Crit DMG for Lumi. Is there a base line for Crit Rate like in ZZZ or 35% + skill tree bonuses should be fine?

Dang, I've played so much already and haven't used cooking at all cuz I thought it's just some stupid buffs for 10-15 sec (I had the basic stuff already, so I based my assumption on this alone). But it looks like there's so very significant stuff there and some extremely good ones too. I'll dive in and see what else is there.

Just checked what ingredients I already have now and it's not much, I need to buy stuff. Speaking of, I bought some cooking recipes at the store in the city, where can I get more?
Be careful when buying ingredients as the cost adds up very quickly, lol! I've spent over 3M "dennies" stockpiling on various ingredients, but it was worth it for me since I can now cook enough of the dishes I want. Some of the rarer ingredients refresh once a week so make sure to grab those each time the stores refresh. You can also prepare some of the commonly used processed items like oils and sauces in case you run out of those. I actually quite enjoy cooking in this game, more so than in Genshin since the food buffs last considerably longer. :p

You can find recipes either at restaurants or by increasing your reputation via cooking various dishes (there's a max proficiency per dish so be mindful of that so you can level up without wasting too many resources).

Some rewards for side quests, they are also sold by NPCs in cities and around the world, so NPC shops should always be checked for recipes and it is advisable to buy them all at once so that you don’t have to return to them later.
In addition to recipes, they also sometimes sell interesting ready-made dishes, some have ingredients for crafting + there are NPCs that sell special prizes if you bring them certain resources in the required quantities.

You can see dishes and recipes here, for example.

Here's a spicy WuWa video here in case you haven't seen it yet. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Funny video. There are a couple of points with which I disagree. :messenger_sunglasses:

1) The Shorekeeper - technically she is not a humanoid creature (I don't want to go into spoilers, in case someone hasn't finished it yet), and to be honest it is unlikely that you will be able to build a relationship with her and I am not sure that it is even possible given the circumstances :messenger_tears_of_joy:
2) Calcharo - was always a good character and still is, just complicated. Well, and he clearly did a bad job in terms of learning if you play as Calcharo in Japanese voice acting then you are really playing as Sephiroth in the truest sense of the word. He is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, who has been the voice of Sephiroth in all the latest games for the past few years. So when playing as Calcharo in Japanese you are in fact playing Sephiroth's and listen to his voice (And yes, most likely Kuro made such a Cast on purpose) :messenger_grinning:

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into it. He even mentioned that "we can't fix Camellya" even though the majority of WuWa players like her personality because of her crazy/yandere traits (I'm oversimplifying to get the point across). :messenger_grinning_sweat:

All in all, it's just some funny content that I thought you guys might enjoy. :p

Why don't you love yourself so much, why do you suffer so much? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah, ngl, there's a lot of QoL stuff I'm missing from WuWa while playing Genshin, however I've pulled Mavuika (Pyro Archon) exactly 2 weeks ago and the open world exploration has improved a fair bit because of her traversal kit.

I'm very behind with the content in the game (I've actually started playing it more seriously last month and just reached adventure rank 39 yesterday) so I'm just taking my time with it, exploring, doing main story and side quests, some events, dailies, etc.

I don't want to sound like I'm bashing on Genshin (I've left the game and made my peace with it), but hot damn, I tried Mavuika's traversal on her trial and that shit felt super clunky and slow as hell.

Like Inferno Rider's level of clunky traversal, which is a mere echo.

She was one of the most anticipated and hyped characters in the game, by far. Hoyo should have done her traversal way way better.

The game honestly needs more Waifu booty. I downloaded it played a bit. So much talking. It does feel like a Genshin knockoff. Haven’t seen what the real hook is yet.

Finished Mt. Firmament story. Easily the best thing in the whole game so far story-wise. Knowing what I know now about 1.0 I thought it was a good narrative idea to finish with 1.0 that way and maybe get back to it at some point and make it better, but then they decided to save it while at the same time create an illusion of choice which is not there:messenger_weary:

Like, you can't possibly think of a better way to let everyone forget about 1.0 and narratively it makes sense as well, but now what? Maybe it wasn't in their plans for the game back then yet, but looking at it now.... ugh, I'm sure they'll find one way or the other, but I doubt it'll be better and just as good. I can't help but think that they think about it the same way now cuz it was a perfect time for them and now it'll be much more complicated narratively and the end result won't satisfy anyone.

Just saw this pretty dope Changli video edit on Twitter. Her banner rerun can't come soon enough...
Her high level play also looks very nice, she has only one problem so far - at the moment there is simply no team in the game specifically for her in order to show her full potential.
For this reason, she is effectively played as number 2. And now she actually has to play through quick swap, interrupting all her animations.

She can also be used as 2 with Charlotte, again via quick swap.

All hope is that Brant will reveal her as a DPS, if not then I don’t even know, most likely she will remain 2 forever...

1.0 ending could very well be a setup for the game's first anniversary - Scar's Prison Break. Some folks theorize that him and Phrolova may headline the game's first anniversary.

And the timing would be great to go back to Jinzhou.

There are also some wild theories about Geshu Lin and the possibility of him having merged with Ovathrax, making him the new Threnodian of War.

Both are very anniversary material if you ask me.

Tbh, I too wasn't feeling her traversal when I first tried her, and it took me some time to get used to it. Now two weeks later her traversal feels great, and she's so much better than the other characters I have in my account.
Describe Changli in one image. Me:

She fits way way better if you play male Rover. Same as Carlotta. And every other waifu actually :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Maybe. I appreciate that Kuro has cutscenes for both female and male Rover, and I hope they continue this trend indefinitely. Even all their drip marketing has both female and male Rovers. :p

I managed to beat the Mephis hologram 4 a few hours ago after several unsuccessful attempts yesterday. I really like this boss fight, so here’s some Mephis cinematic gameplay I stumbled upon on Twitter:

Great job, he is one of the most annoying bosses from 1.0 due to his speed and unpredictability on par with Inferno Rider.
Can I grumble a little like an old man? As a joke and with love? Did he decide to make the fight more difficult for himself on purpose by taking Yinlin or didn't he know that he has 40% resistance to Electro? :messenger_grinning:

Kuro posted track separately in good quality, kind people have already posted it on YouTube, so now you can enjoy it in good quality away from the game.

Caught with the story now and went back to do some character stories , and …
I hate Lingying and hope he dies.
Don't worry every time you will lose 50/50 on the banner he will remind you that he exists and you will love him even more :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Lingyang is actually the only character I don't have and I've been playing since launch day. Looking at my 50/50 losses

4x Calcharo
4x Verina
2x Jianxin
1x Encore

Some might be from standard pulls though

Sad part about LIngyang is that he's actually busted in Somnoire. I slapped my Jianxin weapon on him last cycle and he was by far my fastest clear. Those multihit attacks he has get buffed to the moon with the Somnoire buffs.

I didn't want to believe what I was seeing on screen.

I'm pre farming the echo set for Brant, and damn, it's tricky to hit that 250% ER requirement.

I'm currently sitting at 190% CD, 57% CR% and 230% ER, already with an ER% echo and his signature weapon, which is flat 77% ER at max level.

I know I can still tweak my echoes (trying to get at least echos that have CR / CD / ATK or CR / CD / ER). But damn, I'm still 20% short on ER and 10% short on CD :messenger_loudly_crying:

I hope Kuro streamlines some of this stuff in future patches cuz it's a bit too much. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
I completely agree, there is a lot of text. The problem is that in the case of WuWa it will not help much, the descriptions of skills have very little meaning, the fact sheets are just sets of numbers. Rotations are much more important, which animations can be cancelled with a dash, which with a quick swap, etc. Roughly speaking, advenset techniques and damn, I really hope that they will not add this to the description, then it will just be an encyclopedia. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

My cousin plays WuWa and his favorite character is Jiyan, he has been playing with him since the start and is not going to change. He still does not know names of any of his skills, I will ask him today, I'm sure he didn't even read them. He immediately went to study combo guides and plays purely according to them, if you ask him the question - "How do you play with him?" the answer will be something like this : Intro(ca)->R NA1(ca)->E->NA123->NA123->E(ca)->Outro
(It becomes really scary when you start to understand this code by ear and draw a combo in your head - this is the last stage of WuWa's disease, it is no longer curable)
Often reminds me of a conversation with R2D2 from Star Wars :messenger_tears_of_joy:

That's why, unfortunately, skill and their descriptions are of extremely minor importance. I think that's why they don't really try, but if they do it, it will be nice for casual players.

I wish, lol! Would be dope to have some custom PS5 plates with her, Changli or Shorekeeper though. XD
Oh, with PS5 and panels, everything is much simpler, you just buy white or black ones (depending on the type of drawing and background), and apply a drawing directly to them as desired. At one time, I wanted to make myself custom panels, but in the end, my hands never got around to it. One of the nice things about PS5 is that these panels can always be removed and replaced with others. When I made the Switch, I actually had to disassemble it and completely remove the entire back panel and leg, so there is no quick replacement in this case.

Damn, that Persona 5 skin looks pretty dope on your Switch! Tbh, I'm too lazy for this, but it looks like there are already a bunch of decals for the PS5 Pro on alliexpress, like this one for Genshin. They will probably make some with WuWa too. Anyway, I'll think about it once I get a second pair of plates for my Pro.

I was always afraid to order such things from China via the Internet, because it is difficult to understand what quality of the print will be. It is always nicer when they do it in front of you and you see what you get. Plus in this case you will get your own unique design and the drawing you want. And if you order from a master, they usually follow the technical process and give a guarantee for the drawing.

Damn, game needs some serious optimization for PS Portal.

The moment you need to use the touchscreen in order to act like the touchpad, game enters ape mode, becomes unresponsive and makes you force quit it.

Was farming some materials and in 5 tries, game frooze on me 4 when trying to activate the collection area for the materials.

Damn, our WuWa girls looking real fine in this fanart.

Ghez5gjbwAAKB6V

It's such a shame that Yinlin came out before they got their stuff in order. Her quest was a big fat fart compared to later ones. Still top tier design though.

Is that Taoqi in the top left? Rare to see her anywhere. Baizhi too. Can't wait to see what they have in store for Changli official costumes in the game, in the future.

I really like Yinlin's design as well! And yeah, the one in the top left is Taoqi (I had to do a double take because I couldn't immediately recognize her). And I agree, they should def add a dope Changli costume whenever her banner is rerun (I should have enough premium currency from the monthly subscriptions alone to get it if they keep the same pricing as with the Jinhsi costume).

Edit: Here's the other fanart they've shared on their official Twitter account.

Is there no way to get Waveplates faster? Something like the ZZZ coffe for 60-80 energy per day?
I don't think so. However, you can get waveplates in the form of crystal solvent (battery charge in ZZZ) from the battle pass, rank up rewards and other events. I've like 50 crystal solvent sitting in my inventory for rainy days. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Yeah i have few of them as well, but the overall energy gain per day seems to be way slower here.

Nah, it's the same rate in both games for the base 240 energy, but I think the overflowing waveplate which is capped at 480 does regenerate at a slower rate (will have to check in-game to be sure).
  • ZZZ: Battery Charge is the stamina system of Zenless Zone Zero. It refills at a rate of one point every 6 minutes until it hits the cap of 240, taking 24 hours to fill from empty (0).
  • WuWa: Waveplates passively regenerates at a rate of 1 unit every 6 minutes, until it reaches its max capacity (240).
Edit: Speaking of annoying stamina/energy recharge, you should see how it works in Genshin. The energy there called resin is capped at 200 and regenerates at a rate of 1 unit every 8 minutes. There's no backup battery, so if you've reached the 200 resin cap, you stop replenishing your resin until you start spending it. :/ The batteries/crystal solvents equivalent are very, very valuable there.
