Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – The year is 2054… (Nintendo Switch)

Feels like this is not treated like a major release.

Shouldn't matter I would have thought. Monolith Soft games have had these big box physical releases since Xenosaga on PS2.

It's not like major first party releases got them on Switch. Bayonetta, Astral Chain and Metroid Dread and a couple of FE games off the top of my head also got them but they're nothing special.

weird take. Aren’t WiiUs dead after so many years?

Also how many WiiUs are even out there?

It’s completely different when the other companies release remasters every generation. When they had the best selling consoles.

This is a pretty unique scenario and I guess if you want to just lump it into no remasters that’s fine but to a lot of people that didn’t own a WiiU and have been into the Switch and the series this seems like a great thing.

The DE of XC1 was a big improvement and much needed. It wasn’t just the visual and performance enhancements.

This game looks to be a lot more playable and a much improved UI. Not to mention it is also now on a portable system.
It was the biggest and most ambitious Wii U title that really pushed the system to its limits. It still looks ridiculously good today (and has massive open environments that put many newer open world games to shame). Barely anybody got to experience it thanks to being released on a failed console, plus the series’ popularity has massively increased since then. And it has new content, it’s not just a remaster.

Easily worth $60 or more.

I agree and I like the looks of this game. It’s artistic functional and gets the job done.

What does it matter to me whether someone else did or did not own a Wii U? What does some electronics lifespan matter? This is not some kind of preservation effort. This is a remaster for 60$.
The point is that a remaster is a slight lift compared to the gargantuan effort that a new game represents, so not being willing to pay 60$ or whatever seems like a reasonable position.
I will pay that for very few games I really care about but not because I believe the money is necessarily worth it comparing it to the original release.

I'm not fond of XCX at all so I don't have an interest in playing it again. Whatever story they have added doesn't make up for the fact they didn't restore the originally intended story with a proper protagonist.
I might get it still because it's dope having the entire collection on a single platform, so only for collector purposes. That and I can make it a tax deduction :messenger_relieved:

pick one? Lol I'm not fucking paying full price FOR ANY FUCKING REMASTER lol

I like the game and its easily the best Wii U game imho, that doesn't mean I'm fucking spending $60 on a remaster

I've never done that prior, I won't do that here either.

A full remake, yes, a whole ass collection (like all game, 100%)

JUST a remaster pay the exact same price? yea...I don't know about all that lol

A lot of great games released 10 years ago, I'm telling you sir...even a game I'd give game of the year 10 years ago, I'm not fucking spending FULL PRICE solely on a remaster, that is remake pricing right there lol This is no a judgement on the game, merely that no matter how much someone likes its, it still a remaster from 10 years ago in which a publisher is trying to force a full price on something most publishers sell below full price.

Join the club man. Nintendo got $120 from me for Mario kart 8, so I could have it on the switch. I don’t remember the outage seven years ago, so I doubt why there’s any now.

...nah, this just a remaster lol

How the title is seen by you emotionally doesn't change that this is just a remaster...

This whole weird ass bucket of tears argument can be made for any fucking game, thats like me saying this about any remaster from 10 years ago and bring up some new content, bring up that the last system failed, THUS Uncharted golden abyss IS NOT "just" a REMASTER!

Vita Failed, thus worth it
new character skin, thus worth it broz

I'm not saying someone can't like a fucking game, but fandom or the last system failing doesn't actually support really any remaster being full price, its merely you personal justification why you are ok supporting cash grabs depending on the IP, please keep that same fucking energy the next time a publisher remasters something you happen to not like lol

This.

I think that supports the remaster existing and I 100% agree with it if thats what they mean, I don't know about it being full price though, this is still a remaster being sold for full price lol

Full price imho should only be reserved for actual full FUCKING REMAKES, not someone just throwing in some DLC esk extras, res bump and then act as if that is now magically worth full price lol That is a bit wild and even as someone that likes this IP and owns the original, I can't support full price cash grab like this when its clear this is something generally released at a lower price as clearly they didn't fucking spend 100 million and 5 years making this shit for anyone to believe its actually just to charge full price.

We all know you’d gladly pay $120 for it if it had characters that looked like this:

I've been starting to get excited to play this game again. When it was first announced I just thought. "Eh, I can play it on my Wii U" but it looks like there's a pretty decent amount of new content and QOL upgrades.

I think the thing that is lost on a lot of people that never played it is how multi tiered and dense the open world is with little nooks and crannies to explore. The sense of meaningful scale in X is something I can't remember experiencing since. The way it's paced is really great too, you end up getting your first skell around 30ish hours in, that allows you to access TONS of areas that weren't available on foot, then another 20 or so hours later you get the flight module and again, countless areas open up for exploration. Plenty of the areas don't have much outside of a few unique enemies, but some of them have some truly crazy shit that comes out of nowhere.

I don’t think any JRPG can match open world design of Xenoblade X.

I have some little nick picks against Xenoblade X but it’s open world design and the way of its traversal in open world is masterful.

Same.

I probably look forward to that and the combat more then anything else. I didn't really care for the story, but shit I don't care about most JRPG stories lol

I liked Xenosaga's overall concept and some what liked the story, but the plot itself wasn't the deepest I recall from the PS2 era I'd love a remaster collection of those 3 games.
