South Park: Stick of Truth "New Kid in Town" gameplay demo [13 min]

In South Park the boys don't play with girls.

*Sigh* Seriously? Can't anyone come with straight answers in this forum, instead of being cryptic?

Regardless, it would be completely backwards if you don't have the option of picking your gender from the get-go. I would love to put Cartman in his place as a female mage, given that little blob is (extremely) misogynistic.

Ahhhheh yeah you might wanna find a different game. Wendy is often lampooned for her feminist views, as is evident in the last episode of last season. When it comes to nothing being sacred with Parker and Stone, they really mean it.

There's nothing cryptic about his message, have you not seen the show?

What, no "Ginger" class?:p

Seriously, I'm more excited about this game than even Thief or Titanfall.

I hope you don't consider this a spoiler, but
there is a specific trophy in the game that involves being a ginger, so there you go.

I have been so excited about this game since I 1st heard about it. Can't believe it's finally coming out. And that new footage is hilarious. I like the how the new kids dad acts slightly narcissistic like Butter's dad.

I haven't watched SP in over 10 years but I'm so excited about playing this game it looks amazing!

Does this game start with the intro/theme song?

It didn't show it in the video. I haven't seen the opening scene, or title screen, but I bet it's in there somewhere. The great thing is there are so many reference to older episodes. I the first couple mins of this video it shows a chimpokomon, and the Antonio Banderas blow up doll painted as an orc.

The only thing I'm worried about is this quote from the Eurogamer preview

Sure, South Park was always big on light hearted, if vulgar, humour, but it's always been known for its bold social satire and commentary as well, tackling themes such as euthanasia, censorship, religion, and so on. The impression I get from the videos is that they might have wanted to play it safe in that regard since, well, it's a videogame.

err sp does social satire but its essentially all humour .... im pretty sure if youre looking for some deep social construct the game wont do it for you .... but im just like omg more south park randomness ... does it for me :) love the show .. and the characters and this game seems to encompass that :)

I wasn't very interested in this game until I saw this footage. Looks like they took the task of making an RPG seriously, then just did their South Park thing. Looks like there will be a lot of room for accommodating different play styles.

I don't really recall the boys deciding to play with the girls in the show. Even if you could choose a female, Cartman would still belittle you as much as he belittles the jewish and gingers.

Right now no body knows for sure. What I've read of the character creator no one mentions any gender options just skin color with a ton of hair and clothing options. However, in the primere trailer they def show off a female looking character.. Could be something that was dropped though.

or anyone else . Cartman is cartman .... i mean in that trailer he decides your name is douchbag regardless ..... SouthPark is not for the faint hearted imo .... it has social aspects sometimes ... not for everyone tho.. love the show myself ... its awesome.

maybe this is not the game for you...

this is straight from the source material... nothing cryptic with what he said. The boys dont play with the girls in the show, so why would they in the game..

Pre-ordered for $45 from GMG thanks to their newsletter code. Thats the price it should be on Steam default but whatever GMG rules.

Wow, I just realized they actually converted the price for the European market and didn't just swapped the $ symbol with the € symbol.
Amazing, I got the pre-order for 32€, which is basically exactly 45$. :)

Lol.

What makes you think this game will allow you to put Eric Carman "in his place"??

Most surely he will be like always insulting everyone and everything. Including you. Independent of your genre in the game.

Very interested in this after watching the demo. I adore the show but figured this would turn out as junk like the rest of the SP games.

You should look into the game more. The entirety of the script was written and oversaw by Trey and Matt. They talked about previous games that they had nothing to do with and how terrible they were. They have spent a long time fixing glitches and making it look authentic as possible.

I love the show, save the past few seasons, and I have been very excited for this game. If you like the show, and are familiar/like the combat style I bet you would like this game a lot. :)

Do you think it's worth holding out on the game to watch the show more? I've seen a few seasons and a handful of gem episodes, but I want to get all the references :/

Weird that none of them seemed to like the 13 minute demo, was a really great demo I thought

I could see how it wouldn't win over someone thats not a South Park fan.

Brad is the only one that got to play the entire demo and he walked away really impressed with everything. Considering Vinny and Jeff love Saints Row humor, I could see them warming up to it once they spend more time with it.

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the game Cartman betrays you and becomes a boss fight.

They kinda answer near the end, 40:00 mark about.

Not 100% clear, sounds like they didn't consider it, then they joke about it, and give a non-answer, soooo. :p

This gets me really excited about the potential mod community surrounding this game after it hits PC. I'm really pumped for it to come out.

Please don't buy this game if you don't watch the show and don't know what you're getting yourself in to.

I think I remember Trey and Matt talking about a point in the game where you choose sides with either Cartman's faction, or with Stan & Kyle Elves faction. So certainly possible.

I actually thought I gave you the least cryptic answer possible.

The boys in South Park do not play with the girls on the show, period. They maybe associate with them, but they just don't play with them.
