South Park: Stick of Truth "New Kid in Town" gameplay demo [13 min]

Looks more like an interactive movie than anything, if that thirteen minute clip is how the majority of the game will play out. The combat looked about as basic as you can get. I'll probably end up getting this anyway though just to see how it unfolds, and I will also be able to trick my non RPG playing friend into playing an RPG.

Ever played Paper Mario games? This will play out similarly.

I.E. Awesome.

It's too bad they didn't make a Vita version. Would be perfect for pick up and play.

Have we gotten any word on the length of the game? Is it geared toward length or replay-ability via choices or is it just a short but crazy romp through South Park?

You guys think/know whether we'll be able to join one of the two factions or, generally, to actively influence the events in the game or will the story unfold more linearly?

Since it's an RPG by Obsidian I would be expecting the player's choices to have some significant impact on the plot but what's been shown so far hasn't really given me that impression for some reason.

There's alot of side content in each area of the game so if you go through it and don't just do the main story quest then it's probably 10-15 hours or more.

No way it will be short considering how long it's been in development and how simple the graphics are. It would be a joke. What could they possibly have been doing all this time if it's just a 5-10 hour game?

Regardless of what the reported length is, it'll take people like me a lot longer as we'll be scouring every area for hidden gags and easter eggs.

I've seen people saying 50 hours multiple times, but nobody seems to have a source.

A writer on IGN played through the first 2,5 hours of the game and he didn't even clear the first main quest. He just went to explore the city and various side activities, so it seems there's a lot to do in the town besides just the main quest.

Restarting the game design from scratch a couple times could easily eat up all that dev time and result in a short game. ;P

I don't think that's likely, but if you wanted a plausible reason there you go.

I love how the jew's sock weapon (Sling of David) makes people who get hit with it have stars of David coming out of them. The details that they've worked into the game are perfect.

So I just found out that the game comes out two days later in Europe than in the US, March 6 instead of March 4? Ugh so annoying.

EuroGAF, any way I can buy this game online from Europe and play it on the American release date? You can't do that on Steam, can you?

Wish this was coming to XB1 :(

I bought Rayman Legends yesterday just for this reason. And I hadn't picked up this game which from the reviews, seems fantastic.

I'll wait for SP to come to XB1 or pick it up for cheap closer to the end of the year for 360.

Graphics look great, but man this game looks boring. The combat looks slow and awful. I'm not getting good vibes from this at all.

Use a VPN: Spotflux is free and US-based. Once you're in-game you can close it.

Cheers! So, just to check if I got it straight, I can just preorder the game now and then I'll be able to unlock it two days earlier by connecting through the VPN? Or do I need to change my Steam profile data as well, moving my residence to the US or something?

Just loading up the VPN will suffice.

I think that is game is going to be amazing. I'm saying that since they announced it but it feels more real now.

Honestly, that's probably the part I'm most excited for. I haven't kept up with southpark in ages (though admittedly I got hit by a nostalgia wave watching the video). The paper mario system of turn based decisions coupled with real time blocks/additional damage is a good one.

Any good preorder deals for 360 (US)?

I was looking into this but on ps3. Gamestop has an exclusive samurai everyone else includes a separate pack. But u see no mention of it on Bestbuy.com. so everyone gets fellowship pack and gamestop gets both? Too bad as I'm getting it at bestbuy if I get it at launch.

I'd wager on seeing at least some of the following:

*Game's humor is a big plus, but may turn off some players

*Feels like playing the show with both past references and new material all over the place

*Replayability low due to relatively linear plot/few major choices

*Combat, while surprisingly complex at times (especially boss fights), can feel slow and/or plodding

*If you're a South Park fan you'll love it.

Still no console impressions? Preordered the 360 version. My gut tells me it's going to be fine, but I'd still like to know.

I want to watch but would rather go in fresh having only seen bits of the bard video.

Definitely in full on hyped mode for the game.
