12 hours? I sure hope thats just rushing through. I don't expect a 40 - 50 hour game, but I hope its at least 20 hours.

I watched for a few minutes. Couple of non-spoiler things...

- Theres a DLC menu option, so maybe we'll see some more content afterall. Trey+Matt originally said "fuck that" when they were asked about it.

- No female option in character creator.

In the game you play a new kid in town and you get to make your own identity and represent yourself. When asked if you could play as a female avatar, Parker said, "As long as you complete the abortion clinic level you get your girl skin. That’s the honest answer."

It's honestly difficult to tell if he was telling the truth or just fucking with them (like much of their answers that day).

Just preordered my Grand Wizard Edition at Best Buy last night. Hard to believe this is finally coming out. Very excited! Gonna try to avoid any more gameplay videos.

in my opinion the game looks exactly like one of the episodes. (if i haven´t known it better i would have thought that is a persiflage on rpg´s)
and thats awesome, i quess its gonna be one of the best licensed games.

The question is at 1:30. There is no way they were serious with that answer. Look as one of them rolls their eyes after giving the abortion clinic answer.

I know the White Knights will be disappointed but it seems they made this game for their core fans, which in all honesty are guys. Right or wrong, it was their choice to make and they made it.

The answer seemed serious to me.

Goddamn Pewdiepie, lucky fucker.

Anyway, according to some people on Steam, referencing a bunch of Austrian websites, all the EU versions might be censored, with all the Nazi symbols removed and who knows what else, not only the German one, while the US version is the only uncut one.

In that case, if I access Steam from the EU through an EU account with a US VPN enabled, am I gonna download the EU or the US version? So confused.

edit: this is on the uplay store

What is it supposed to mean? Are all Steam versions somehow censored, since Ubi is advertising the version they're selling as non-censored?

Through a bit of detective work and the use of good old Zenmate, I might have cracked the case:

This is the ad for the game as it appears of the US uplay store:

GrGzxGu.jpg

Now the French and Italian stores
SPK-Mockup_Hero-FR.jpg

SPK-Mockup_Hero-IT.jpg

All clearly reporting that the version they're selling is not censored.

Now, the German store:

SPK-Mockup_Hero-DE.jpg

The caption "non-censored version" is evidently missing, thus I assume that the German version is the only censored one. I hope the same is true for Steam as well, I don't see why it shouldn't though.

This is the entry for the game on the Steam database:
http://steamdb.info/app/213670/#section_subs

Apparently, only three versions differing from the main one are listed, for Germany, Russia and Australia. Can anyone who's more familiar with how the database works confirm that?

The Austrian Version should be cut aswell. They don't like swastikas either. But it would be cool if the other countries get uncut versions. Since the game is only in englisch I guess all versions in europe will have all subtitels to them so germany could just buy from neighbour countries I guess

Edit: Wait, wasn't there supposed to be a Jew class?

Yes, these are costumes. The Jew class will be in every single version, German version included.

The thing with swastikas is that they're an unconstitutional symbol in Germany (that's kinda obvious) and are very restricted in use. So for example you can of course use them for educational purposes or in works of art. However while television in general is considered as art (the German version of South Park on TV shows swastikas), video games are not. So while the video game actually feels quite like a TV episode of SP, they aren't allowed to show swastikas there...

It's really stupid, but I think there's worse censoring than replacing a bunch of swastikas with iron crosses or something like that.

The version of the game you download will depend on the version you activate. If you want to be on the super safe side, have someone in the US buy you the game from GMG (20% off with the code OQE4LG-WEQPSE-SMCME1).

Oh well if it's only about our dearly hated Hakenkreuze...who cares. I've killed mofos with Iron Crosses in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it won't kill me in South Park.

Cheapskates Ubisoft not including the glorious, superior German dub however...damn them.

Wait so are those of us in the US who got cheap $20 copies from Steam traders getting it from Russia or whereever going to be fucked into a censored version of the game?

No, as Mt Heart Attack pointed out only the German (and probably Austrian) version is affected.

Russian traders were selling rest-of-world (i.e. uncensored and region-free) copies.

To quote myself:

To clear up the South Park region-lock matter, the following region-locked subs are in use:

- Germany and Austria
- Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan
- Eastern Europe

Every single other territory shares a region-free sub and this sub can be activated within the aforementioned territories.

Eastern Europe aside, the countries listed above will have a censored version.

Here's the website that was being referred to.

vier Charakterklassen: Magier, Paladin, Abenteurer und Schurke

Could it be they were just trying to translate the Jew class into a traditional RPG class in the description? Probably not:/ Also, why would they call the Fighter class "Adventurer"?

Is Cartman gonna say "Jew eh? Let's be best friends forever" when you pick the Jew class in the German version?

God I hope that's not true. But since the synchro is English, wouldn't they have to cut a lot of dialogue?

Anyways, if it actually is censored beyond Swastikas I won't even bother to download my already bought German version of the game and just get the US version off piratebay.

I Wanna Be The Guy

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
Wait, so is the UK version going to be censored? If so I'm now mad. Such bullshit. Is it just the swastikas that are censored or is there more stuff cut from the EU version?

Edit: Oh thank god the UK version is uncensored. I was worried for a minute.

That's a lie or they just were confused by the costume "Holy Defender" (Paladin in German) for the Jew class.

Look here:
SPK-Mockup_Hero-DE.jpg

Paladin is the German name of the "Holy Defender" pre-order bonus costume.

Also a German magazine already played the German verison and confirmed the Jew class is there.

Ah yes, sorry about that. Australia etc. also have a censored version. However it's a different kind of censorship. Oh, and I hate Steam for region blocking that kind of stuff. That's really unnecessary and over the top. It's not like they have to do this to conform German law anyways.

This shit is so confusing. Well I don't really care since I won't buy the game at launch but people really should know which version is cut or not. Time for Ubi to come out with this.

Geez, that pewdiepie video nearly has 3 million hits already.

I've never thought about it before.. but this guy might be bigger than any traditional outlet.

Well, he gets to play the game early and gets like 50000 USD from that youtube video alone

win win

What, I thought they said there was no Uplay for this game. It's not a deal breaker for me, but was I mistaken?

I think he read somewhere that he makes $1.6 million a year. I picked the wrong profession.

They did mess up once already and label both packs as "das super-samurai-astronauten-paket"
