I'm actually pretty hyped and the crowd seems to be too. Can't wait!

You're right Snyder is a hired hand and it's evident by his films. Nolan has real clout and had his own Batman story to tell. Those movies weren't made by committee.

The stuff about Batman, like WTF? How do you fuck that up?

Totally uninterested in any Batman solo film until there's a reboot now. Shame, since it sounds like Affleck is really good.

That's like one of the pillars of the character and like Chris mentioned, they don't even attempt to justify why they broke it. I was still wavering on whether or not to believe the reviews but that alone makes me think they fucked up in all the other aspects people are saying they dropped the ball in. If you can't get that right, what can you get right?

ERMYGERD!
But the director, who is also the producer, is the one in charge of driving the entire DCCU. Lol.

I think there's the problem. It can work, but you need a self-critical person to make it work. I just can't see Snyder taking a step back from his work and go "no, wait, this doesn't look right, let's fix that."

Snyder being a "hired hand" is the funniest thing I've read all day. And it's been a long day.

C'mon, say what you want about the man, but his films all have a distinctive mark. He is a visionary. A visionary of shit maybe, but a visionary none the less.

What the fuck
Zack Snyder is literally the exact opposite of a hired hand, you know damn well it's him that makes these movies, he's front and center on the marketing, etc

"Visionary of Shit" is the perfect title for him. Lol. Sums it up perfectly.

Supergirl is the Superman you're looking for.

I gave it a fair shake. The tv budget hurts it quite a bit, but I found it marred by a lot of cheesiness and bad writing (like the not-zod Aunt and just eye rolling drama with Jimmy & Wynn). I'll give it another try (I actually liked the livewire episode) after it hits netflix.

I don't know why people wants this to crash and burn badly (like not make it's budget back). It would probably just cause them to drop everything and focus on Harry Potter. If it does well but doesn't hit target goals, they may delay JL and swap out Snyder as director, but I think he's had enough of a role building the universe that he'd stay on as a producer.

I don't know how someone can look at his two last films and say he was a hired hand.

Have they seen any other films by him?

what lies? if you're a DC fan you should be watching Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow & Legends of Tomorrow... it's all so good.

Agreed. Even if all the DCEU stuff crumples, it's good to know that I'll have the CW/CBS universe to fall back on.

Gotham is awesome too btw

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

like all of the Arrowverse shows, it takes half a season to find it's footing

once it does it's awesome

at least until WB fucks it up like they did with the Suicide Squad in Arrow S3

i don't want to think of what they'll do to The Flash once that movie starts picking up stem

Having a distinct visual style doesn't make one a visionary.

So...blame Snyder?

Snyder has a pretty recognizable and consistent style though most, if not all, of his films. He's way more than just a hired gun; his movies are definitely, through and through, very clear Zack Snyder films.

And other than 300 (maybe) complete shit

Yep visionary of shit sounds good...but i think Michael Bay has him beat there...at least Snyder has some talent

I thought visionary usually implies being proven gloriously right at a later date.

(no issue with Snyder tho I love some of his movies)

Woah that's some harsh reviews,i'm debating whether to watch this tomorrow in the theater, i was kinda hyped. Also here's a fun fact i read on THR: This movie needs to hit 1 billion WW or it will be considered a massive failure, heads will roll if this movie does badly.

I have no doubt. I believe it has to hit 800M to break even.

How do you fuck up a movie called Batman vs Superman. You'd think it'd be impossible to do so even with half the budget this movie had. But here we are.

Maybe hired hand is an inappropriate term. Very early in the morning for me.

What I mean is that he was hired to do what he does best. Which is deliver over the top, visually stunning action. And i would argue that all his films are very good at that.

Bizarrely enough, I'm still excited to see this... though it's namely so I can judge for myself whether or not I like it, now. I loved Man of Steel, but then when I first watched that, I'd never read a comic book in my life. Devoured a ton since, and have a firmer grasp of how Batman and Superman should be portrayed, so have a feeling this will annoy me.

Has there been any response from the studio etc. to the reviews yet?

Remember the second trailer thread when people said this was gonna crash and burn and DC fans were all like "Nah son, this trailer shows nothing! Movie will be amazing!"

Those were the days...

It's surreal. Absolutely surreal. It's like someone handed you the perfect template, a universally beloved and universally acclaimed rendition of two of the most iconic heroes of all time, and all you have to do is just film it in live-action.

I'm still going to see this movie, but damn, I'm still super let down that this isn't an adaptation of World's Finest.

So Snyder isn't just pulling a Marvel-Whedon (doing a few movies and setting some tone), he's the Feige? That really doesn't bode well.

I don't think I was going to end up seeing this, but now I might just to get in on the train wreck (even if I end up thinking it's okay, the media around this is going to be a trainwreck for sure). Oh well.

Coming off of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix and watching the Batman: Animated Series with my fiance, this is surreal.

Is it really so hard for WB to pick up the phone and give Bruce Timm and Paul Dini a call?

They only know how to do Batman and Superman (to an extent)...I don't think they know how to handle Flash/Wonder Woman.

Let's be honest guys, this movie was doomed from the beginning with the fucking stupid title of batman vs superman.

A title like that makes you think this is some 8 year olds mash up hand made movie with action figures.

No. Auteur writes and directs his own movies.

Ex. Woody Allen has been an auteur for 40 years. QT is a auteur.

You don't need to write the films in order to be considered an auteur. Hitchcock didn't write the screenplays for his.

Visionary of shit is a hilarious description of Snyder :p

But visionary of anything is too positive a description for Snyder
