On Twitter

(CNN) China has slammed US President-elect Donald Trump over his use of Twitter to conduct international diplomacy in a commentary published by the country's official news agency Xinhua.

Trump has earned a reputation for making unpredictable statements on Twitter that often depart from long-standing US policies and he's made several controversial comments about China.

"The obsession with 'Twitter diplomacy' is undesirable," said the bylined commentary, which only appeared on the agency's Chinese website. Xinhua is the biggest and most influential of China's state-run media.

China has been taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won't help with North Korea. Nice!

China Media Warn Trump of ‘Big Sticks’ If He Seeks Trade War

Chinese state media warned U.S. President-elect Donald Trump that he’ll be met with “big sticks” if he tries to ignite a trade war or further strain ties.

“There are flowers around the gate of China’s Ministry of Commerce, but there are also big sticks hidden inside the door -- they both await Americans,” the Communist Party’s Global Times newspaper wrote in an editorial Thursday. The article was published in response to Trump picking Robert Lighthizer, a former trade official in the Ronald Reagan administration who has criticized Beijing’s trade practices, as U.S. trade representative.

The Global Times English version said the U.S. will adopt reckless protectionist policies and that China is powerful enough to withstand pressures from the administration. “China needs to face up to the reality that the Trump team maintains a hard-line attitude,” it said last month. “Beijing will get used to the tensions between the two countries. If Washington dares to provoke China over its core interests, Beijing won’t fear setting up a showdown

"Chinese" and "Big Sticks" does not compute.

Chinas obsession with blocking foreign social media is undesirable is my opinion as someone who works there.

I love to see how mad they get about it. Behaving like children. There is lots to say about Trumps Twitter ramblings but China behaves so unsecure in this case. I read an article in a Chinese newspaper that described Xi Jinpings political behaviour as a gold standard for international behaviour. Yes of course.

The best thing are still those weekly press conferences where they cry and complain about everything that is not up to their standard. I think China complained about Japans PM visit to Pearl Habour more than any other countries talked about in general. Day after day, just complaining about what other foreign leaders are doing (while trying to push the massacre of nanjing on the public stage).

They are soooo unsecure.

I agree that it is incredibly unprofessional and he should speak with more thought and care considering how much power his words now hold.

They should offer to solve the North Korea problem in return for Trump's support on the South Chinese Sea issue.

I don't agree with Trump at all, I don't think he knows what he's doing, and it's incredibly dangerous, ....but

He sure has a talent for exposing other countries as petty, vindictive and image-obsessed. If only we could harness his powers for good.

Trump has bigly sticks. The best sticks! An extremely fantastic and credible source just called him the other day and said "Trump, those sticks are fantastic".

Just call the US debt in once Trump is sworn in.

Who the fuck are they to tell us how to conduct our affairs?
They are telling us how to conduct our affairs WITH THEM. The situation right now is basically like If I came over to your house, brought along that cousin you hate, and then vomited on your rug, then if you told me to get out, id scream "don't tell how I should act!" China has every right to be pissed off right now.

Trump "slamming" China(or anyone for that matter) via twitter is something a vindictive 13 year-old would do. It's unacceptable, but what are ya gonna do; he's the fucking president.

Is Trump afraid to have an actual discussion?

Shouting shit on Twitter is a lot easier than have a discussion.

This fucking idiot.

Well, then I'm glad Trump is putting them in their place. It's one thing to criticize Trump speaking to Taiwan, but this is ridiculous.

Considering Trump continues to shit on them given the chance on Twitter, that's who they are to give him shit about his Twitter conduct.

This idiot is going to end up causing a major economic crisis, isn't he? Oh boy. I swear, if Trump does anything to fuck up the Project Scorpio launch...

Sounds like Reagan is truly back.... Fitting that some of his people are also on trumps team

for all of you who are to young to remember the 80s... just google for "reagan, japan and fair trade"... you'll experience quite a déjà-vu
eerie how history is repeating itself... sadly it's always the wrong parts of history.

Which is why I've always wondered why Trump and China are enemies when they seem to share so much in common.
