Yes. But it's not a departure from the norm and the hyperbole about the graphics looking dated is ridiculous.
There is WAY more detail on these models, the lighting is much more advanced, textures are high res, particle effects, etc.
UMvC3 has a stylized aesthetic that serves it well, though.
My biggest problem with the graphics of MvC:I is that the colors are too loud and everything is shiny, shit gets lost in the colors of the background very quickly.
DryEyeRelief's comment about MvCI being two generations behind visually is inaccurate snark but it does look terrible. And you're right none of these Capcom fighting games look particularly good. But they do look way more cohesive than MvCI does.
MvCI doesn't feel like it has an art direction whatsoever. I thought MvC3 was kind of ugly but it at least it had a look it was going for even if it came up a bit short.
The only modern Capcom fighting game that looks worse is Street Fighter x Tekken and that's because they took SF4, which was never going to win any beauty pageants, as a base and irradiated everything until it had this burnt neon look going on.
MvCI's blandness isn't eye piercing like that, just very forgettable. It would still be a bad aesthetic if it wasn't peppered with tragic facial modeling and weird animations here and there.
Like some of this stuff doesn't scream "unfinished" to me like SFV's bareness did. There's things that just needs to be scrapped entirely.
Yeah, kappa is kind of an alt-right cesspool which is especially weird considering how much black slang they used. I remember noticing the go to insult switching from "fuccboi" to "cuck" a year or so ago.

I'm cautiously optimistic right now. I'm buying the game and DLC. If DLC support is going to last for a long time, then this could be something amazing in a year's time. If it flops and Capcom gives up on development after the first or second set of DLC, then Capcom and I may have a different relationship in the future.

Can't wait for MvC4 or whatever to be announced years down the line and for everybody to trip over themselves to say how much better MvC:I looked. Apparently nobody remembers the reaction to MvC3's art style when it was announced, and all of the backlash to that game's visuals which are apparently so highly regarded now. lol

List is still most likely valid. The only mistake was that the unconfirmed Capcpom character was thought to be Frank West, but it's actually Zero.
Ryce wasn't the one who said Frank West, that was Sneakers. EDIT: Actually it was Ryce but he just assumed.
Black Panther was never on the main roster.

It's not debunked. Zero is the last Capcom character that Ryce didn't know about and BP is a DLC character.

There's still nothing that debunks the leaked character list. Zero would take the "one Capcom slot" that Ryce didn't know and suggested might be Frank West, Black Panther is DLC so he wasn't in the leaked list.

Black Panther is confirmed Season 1 DLC out by the end of this year. It appears all but confirmed that Zero is the missing Capcom character from the Ryce leak. So far Ryce is batting 1.000 as it appears also that Ryu may be the only character to have kept the traditional F,D,F + attack shoryuken input whereas everyone else seemingly has been replaced with D,D + attack

Man, this Solo love (however minor) surprises and excites me.
I don't realistically see Meio as a DLC character, and I think he may just be an NPC, but maybe he'll send Solo or the Pooh Sisters, Juruong, Xi Wangmu, etc. who might be DLC?

DLC seems to be Sigma, Black Panther, Venom (rumored), Grandmaster Meios (rumored). No hints about the final 2 yet
what you have seen on the trailers so far is what they have officially released.
The 2 dlc characters we know from the season pass are Sigma and Black Panther. Gamora seems to be part of the normal roster.

The character models look clean to me in the character select, but those portrait thumbnails look hideous. The MvC1,2, and Ultimate 3 character select screens were iconic. MvC3 vanilla was soulless and so is this. No style at all. Just really basic.

I don't know what Blur studios CG people were expecting to play in the character select screen. Looks decent.
