Err coming into this thread is really starting to make me wonder if I should even be visiting these forums at all.. so many straight up strange, ill informed, or just wishful thinking type posts from a certain side claiming future dominance before we've really seen anything solid outside of vague outlines from both companies. Dropping large lists of games as launch titles that have not even been announced by companies that JUST released gams within the last year or two and future plans of companies that haven't even said a word one way or another is just … ok i'm just gonna stop here. You guys are too much.

Not when games can be taken away or take off a service, I buy a game I dictate what I do with it, not some corporation
No MS games will be taken off the service,o you don't have to worry about that. If a 3rd party game is taken off the service it'll most likely be on sale and available for cheap by then.

If a game wants to stream data at 3gb/s for the open world to give u amazing sense of speed as an ability , how can that be done on ps4 or x1 with 100 mb/s speed ? It simply can’t and that game design needs to be changed/removed

with this mentality, rdr2 could have run on ps1 😂😂
They're not even 100mb/s. IIRC they're limited to theoretical <50mb/s and some devs said they limited themselves to 20mb/s.

pretty sure it was established in one of the previous 600 pages that racing games are the ones least likely to be held back by a weak cpu to begin with.
With all the physics going for the ~20 cars on screen? Not for FH but GT and FM as well? Interdasting.

People talking about market realities getting you this made is pretty silly, that's my opinion. Brand recognition is a thing , it matters in a global market. People even have careers doing this. They are called Analysts.

PS Now doesn't only mean gamepass model. PS Now can be both a netflix type service while also sell $60 newly released game you can play on all your devices with an option to download to your PS6 if you so choose.

I don't believe the blockbuster single-player games will come to PS Now service day one. Sony will create new games for that service that make sense like multiplayer focus or GaaS type games. But the AAA single-player games can be sold by Sony for $60 through PS Now with an option to download on their console. And vice versa. Games sold through PSN can be streamed if you so choose provided you are subscribed to PS Now.

IKR I'm sure the end-game is to have a service that is 90% all first-party. From MS perspective that makes the most sense, they pay for it once and don't pay again, plus they do control how those games are available on PC. All of the streaming services are moving this way.

Some flavor: In the GpuMmu model, the graphics processing unit (GPU) has its own memory management unit (MMU) which translates per-process GPU virtual addresses to physical addresses.

Each process has separate CPU and GPU virtual address spaces that use distinct page tables. The video memory manager manages the GPU virtual address space of all processes and is in charge of allocating, growing, updating, ensuring residency and freeing page tables.

So your telling me your game plan when a game is off the sevive is to buy it....great argument in the end your doing what you should have done in the first place

also you cant gurantee that games wont be taken off ever, your not the company

Nobody cares about owning media anymore. Games being $80-$100 in Canada makes Game Pass even more attractive.

and streaming. with new consoles probably being over $700 cdn, :goog_censored:

If i could use it for productivity (eg windows mode), then yeah. But as a time waster...idk. It’ll be really hard to get up the gumption to drop a grand for ps5, two games, year of plus, and an extra controller. That shit was $500 for me in 2013, and $300 in 2009 with wii.

Hey, maybe I am a lockhart guy after all, :p

The game plan is playing as many games for the least amount of money as possible. So far I haven't had to buy any Game Pass games though since they've all been on the service long enough for me to get full enjoyment out of them.

Snowflake? Now you're trying to make it political like an idiot. You're the one throwing around fanboy-esque labels in your previous post, you wouldn't be doing that unless you were triggered in some way.

If that's the point you wanted to make, you could've worded it like an adult, but you stealthed that into a comment a fanboy would make. If it was really about you preferring in-game gameplay over pre-rendered footage, why didn't you just say that!? There was no reason to start shitting on Xbox in that post, or do you think having a preference while having some type of maturity are mutually exclusive things?

I called it for what it was, and I'd do the same if it was an Xbox fanboy "supposedly" stating a preference while shitting on PlayStation. Don't take it personally.
I don'[t take it personally, as you shouldn't being called a snowflake.

As you believe I was "shitting on the xbox" you kind of prove my point.

If this place wasn't full of people like you, I wouldn't need to explain the comment as it's pretty clear it was a gameplay over pre render cutscene.

But as usual it's the people who it applies to that start throwing out the old fanboy line.

I'm assuming you read the title of this thread where it says 'speculation?' If you're not into it great. But seriously why bother posting then? Is it your hope that after your revelatory post everyone will just abandon the thread and suddenly heed your words? Or did you just feel the need to crap on people for engaging in harmless back and forth dialogue?

Even with the obvious fact that there's inevitably bullshitters in here claiming this and that, what's the harm? You're free to believe it or not. Once the official info is released none of it will matter anyways? People are excited for the next gen and want to engage one another over how they think and feel about it. This is one place to do it. Plenty of other spaces out there doing pretty much the same even if they try to shine it up.

If it ain't your cup o' tea fine, don't drink it. But no need to drop a deuce in it.

[/end rant]

I want surprises from both. A last minute power struggle where they both overclock the chip’s to 14TF.

If 2/3 are already loudbois and running hot, that may have already happened to get us here.

Though I still hope final retail cooling is somewhat more exotic than the 8th gen, as the X started towards.

Hi guys! I have been reading in this thread and the ResetEra one constantly, I just want to know what made some of you guys say that the PS5 might be 12 TF after all, I hope it is... By the way, my 1st post here! 😀

Thats great yet my initial statement was about owning rights to what you pay for, you own nothing and when games are taken off and you want to play it again you'll be buying it

Is this like some weird, orchestrated prank?

Unless I'm missing something, the links he provides don't lead to what he's talking about. One's a BC patent.

Going along with Tim's recent conversion to the blue side and this weird tweet, it this some weird troll experiment to expose how gullible people are?

They pulled 1800 out of a hat because they felt 2000MHz was too high though? Could be right, but by accident

Question is, was OsirisBlack OsirisBlack using the 3 IPC figure? Would have been a mega bomba to drop if the old Flop calculations were invalid
2000 was an UpperLimit parameter in the test @100%. 1800 could be the nominal number.

So you dont see any differences between:

Start to dev games for new system with multiple times more of performance in cpu/gpu/ram/mem

Dev games for slow old ass system and "port" that onto new fast system

Of course devs cant get everything out from new consoles in first few years, but adding old system support into the equation will most likely multiply that learing process instead of cutting it half.

And games will be worse than just made for the new system only

Games will NOT be worse. Enough with the doom and gloom.

I obviously can't speak for every studio, developer laziness is a common matter in this industry. But I'm sure MS will optimize for their own titles and make sure the developers under their publishing tent properly showcase their first party offerings.

Studios scale for various hardware setups for PC. This is not foreign territory in game development. You're trying to create a storm in a tea cup. It's just not necessary.

There’s always the possibility that there is no PS event in February, and we have to wait closer to the summer for concrete info on both consoles.

But we might get Life of Black Tiger 2 for ps5!

My fellow humans, SIMD in itself is nothing crazy new; CPUs have been using it since at least the late 1980s. Intel's MMX processors were the first to implement it in mainstream consumer CPUs IIRC.

So what exactly is the Sony patent about in regards to SIMD? Implemented into the GPU? GPUs can already do multiple instructions in parallel can't they, since they share that feature in common with DSPs? In fact looking into it a bit, most modern GPUs already feature a wide SIMD implementation.

Is the Sony patent a very specific implementation, what would this third instruction for the clock cycle actually be if it were true? Just curious.

EDIT: I think MIMD (Multiple Instruction Multiple Data) being part of the patent implemented some way on some part of the SIMD architecture process (maybe towards the GPU) would be really cool, tho.
