xCould, GamePass, no next-gen exclusives, and smart delivery might result into more mediocre games as a final results. Won't even throw a penny to bet on Xbox getting GOTY next gen.
Nah. For starters people've been misinterpreting that comment from Booty (lol), as it was mentioned at E3 '19 and also effective for that year. So the two-year period most likely covers 2019 and 2020 which, yeah, would also include the launch window. Though, with the way MS's been doing things of late, they might've been misdirecting with that statement to try surprising people later on in the year.
Aside from that there's already a few upcoming games on MS front I'm interested in. Ori, Flight Simulator, Forza 8, Project: Mara and Halo Infinite are the chief ones. Even if most of those are going to have availability on other platforms, I honestly have zero interest playing them on a current-gen Xbox and the next PC I get is mainly for productivity purposes and light gaming when there's downtime for that. If I really want to play those games, I'm getting an XSX to play them, for the convenience factor and features that'll be there.
On PS5 side, there's not a lot we've even seen with software. Rumors, sure, but nothing concrete outside of Godfall which looks like it could be fun. Demon's Souls Remastered would be pretty big, but it depends on if it's actually happening or not. Everything else is speculation. GT7? Yeah I'd be down for that...whenever it gets confirmed and gets shown. GTA6? It'll be multiplatform. Uncharted 5? We know that's years off from now xD. Same goes for the next God of War, etc. Other stuff I'd expect like Street Fighter, Tekken, Farcry, Resident Evil etc., they'll all be multiplatform. Maybe they get a marketing deal with Sony or a marketing deal with Microsoft, multiplatform all the same.
Also personally, for me while I'm interested in seeing what Sony's studios are cooking up I already know they're going to focus on less 1st party games overall but push them to be bigger in terms of AAA budget. They've already mentioned that years ago. But I'm not the biggest fan of the Hollywood-ish cinematic approach they've been steering headfirst into. Granted, there's obviously tons of people who love it and more power to them, but I miss the variety Sony had back with PS3 in terms of 1st party content, and I miss the focus on less serious stuff with their 1st party content, too. It doesn't mean I dislike the kind of story-focused games Sony is doing these days, but with MS seemingly looking to invest in more of those themselves and having a better balance of other types of 1st party content (imo), plus several next-gen titles already revealed in one form or another and...
...welp, Sony needs to start really showing what they've got coming for next gen if they want me to pick up a PS5 sooner rather than later.
