Serious question here, does Sony really need to be higher then 9.2 TF for next gen!? I mean look at ghost of Tsushima and FF7, like every gen before ill own every console and play mostly on Xbox but i still think the same thing i was thinking back in the ps2 era First Xbox. Sony will alway have the best looking exclusive and story driven game.

SSD potential issues have been brought up before.

the key issue is what happens if you got most of your games on a standard external HDD because that 500gb - 1tb SSD is only big enough for so many games.

it came down to a few possibilities.

1. Your fucked. Go buy an external SSD

2. The system can somehow in real time or pre-game load game data from the external into the SSD so everything runs off the SSD

3. Things run off SSD get the perks. Games running off the HDD 5400rpm run like a game in current systems.

maybe there’s more possibilities.
I'm sure we won't be able to add a slow HDD on next-gen consoles. Games will be built with SSDs in mind. They wouldn't work at all when installed on a HDD and transfering the game to a fast storage everytime would take a long time everytime you wanted to play a game stored on the Hd.

Actually the supply shortages/delays due to coronavirus situation might come in handy, giving Sony extra time to let's say add more CUs and redesign the socket and circuits on the motherboard appropriately for the bigger APU, and still release the console somewhere in Q1 2021, which is still a year from now.

I read some AMD/console stories online, and author claimed AMD told them the PS5 has a custom 7nm GPU. If true Sony PS5 likely also has a custom RDNA2 GPU. If the PS5 has hardware tracing, it's a new GPU.

Unknown what is the clock speed and active CU count to know how fast the machine is. 36 to 40 CU would put the PS5 between 10.5 to 11 teraflops.

PS5 may be close to the Xbox series power if the AMD statements online are accurate?

Technically it is possible, bare in mind none of the CPU/GPU in next-gen consoles are an off-the-shelf solutions, both MS and Sony will have their desired, heavy customizations put into those chips, but whose solutions will turn out to be better ones? It's hard if not impossible to tell to be honest, because in reality, those customizations will only be utilized by their 1st party exclusive lineup, so we will never gat an apples to apples comparison, while all the 3rd party devs won't even bother, they always base on pure, raw processing power, bandwidth, amount of memory and so on.

True.

AMD has endorsed a 7nm GPU for the PS5. What type of GPU die is it? Has it all the same components as the Xbox series custom chip? Price still counts.

Sony GPU may be RDNA2, but may not have the full set of features because of cost? Right now we don’t know. The only way the PS5 can be less than 10 teraflops if they went with a Nanometer die at the very low to middle end price range?

The PS5 likely between 10 to 11 teraflops, higher if they got a RDNA GPU die with more compute units and can clock higher?

Regardless of if we have next gen console news directly tonight, learning more about AMD's RDNA 2 roll out plans and what comes next should be interesting regardless. Can they do to Nvidia what they've done to intel?

Does someone want to join the no-hype train? I do not expect much from the meeting, so I will be happy to see something, if not then I won't have my feelings hurt.

we have to hope they will, because Nvidia needs more competition in the highest end

Hoping AMD showcases the 7nm GPU price ranges. It would give us a hint how expensive the new consoles likely will be..

Xbox at 12 teraflop power likely has 52 to 56 CUs
Current estimate for PS5 is 40 CUs may be wrong. That puts in 10-2 to 10.5 teraflop range. CPU clock changes may be higher?

OK, enough with those Sony jokes, here is how it will all play out in the greater scheme of things:

Q1 passes, still no word from Sony, who are skipping all the big events,, meanwhile, MS is using every single opportunity to promote next-gen Xbox(es), tons of interviews, coverages, trailers, gameplays, livestreams, people almost forgot about PS5, H1 passes, MS is basically popping the champagne already, but then, early-mid Q3, Sony finally shows up, and...

You guys know that's exactly what's gonna happen, don't you?

The list is full of major publishers who don’t care about their employees health apparently.

You want to be proven wrong again? Sony might be a wait and see approach. Even if they sign up within the month they will pull out again if Corona Virus is still an ongoing thing in August, other publishers will pull out as well.

So you have to register 🤔 it won't be streamed on YouTube for example?

Can't find the 2nd gif that goes with this. Oh well.

I'm going to try to stream it on Twitch since it takes 24hrs to activate streaming on Youtube. I'm sure it will be on Youtube and all sorts of other channels.

Never done a livestream, so I figured it would be good practice. 🤷‍♂️

People shouldn't get too hyped over this, but some cool stuff might happen. People do corporate wars on here with sales and stocks, maybe it will be exciting?

*It keeps freezing in fullscreen. lol*

I am sure there will be a few other links coming.

Xbox one series x will be more powerful than PS5. But the competing console is Xbox One Series S and will be competing on price point. Remember though PS5 Pro can be released any time in the future with stronger specs than the SX. So nah team Sony all the way.

While personally I’m not asking for haptic feedback honestly. I just want a DualShock from Sony that I can customize for competitive shooters. I’d like at least some of those features (that the elite has) from Sony. I’d rather have adjustable analog sticks with good grip and rear triggers out of the box over haptics any day.

I won’t dare rule out the haptic feature as being “worthless” before even trying it, I just wish the options I want in a controller would be offered alongside the haptic tech. I mean maybe the DS5 will have such options. I sure as hell hope so.

How the actual fuck
Like
Nani?

It's an absolutely beautiful looking game in terms of artistry and technical qualities, especially considering it's on 3-7yr old hardware.

However, without wanting to sound like a downer -- and after watching the 4k trailer on my tv -- I can't help but thinking with the bar being so high in many other regards, the eyes of the characters look really dead and stiff; and stick out like a sore thumb. They seem to be really lacking in depth when compared to other titles, which is a real issue if it's heavily story-character driven.
