The Xbox uses 14 Gbps GDDR6. It is less expensive than 16 Gbps GDDR6. Sony might spend more for the 16 Gbps in order to deliver more bandwidth over 256 bit bus. Or they might just be fine with 448 GB/s. That’s still more than twice what PS4 Pro has at 217 GB/s.

The amazing choice would be to spend the huge amount of cash to deliver 24 GB of GDDR6. Not gonna happen but even at 448 GB/s having like 20+ GB of memory for devs would be fucking huge. But won’t happen...

It is twice the PS4 pro. Of course the pro was bandwidth starved so only doubling bandwidth while increasing power more than 2x, would again result in a bandwidth starved console.

Last gen there was february mid reveal for sony, then ms may reveal (i will never forget that day, i will never forgive ms for what the did to xbox, i had ps3 previously but 360 appealed to me more, to the point that even my friends switched to xbox but then, after the ms reveal, tvtvtsportstvsportstvwatercoolertv, i marched to the shop and traded in my xbox and switched sides once again to ps, team blue ever since. Personally, I think Sony is in a position to match specs, but possibly not exceed them depending on if they went monolithic with their design like Mircorosft has. I also have a lot of faith in the 11.6 rumor is true quite frankly. But with the design Microsoft has chosen, I think they have the headroom to up-clock prior to launch which will most likely require a day 1 firmware update. I'm not choosing sides here, but it's just my opinion as the've done it before with the Xbox One which also had a decent thermal design considering the giant grill on top. Either way, I really do want both consoles under my TV as both have their merits.

Sonys dev environment is VS it directly interacts with the devkits from windows. This doesn't mean they are using DirectX or even VS's compiler.
