They are basically so close it’s hard to really applaud this “win” if the Gen is like this it will be pretty awesome for everyone.Yea XSX gets the win

but yes, Xbox ”wins” if we have to label one.
One dropped more frames, though they don't quite add up, 23772 + 1096 isn't 24871Not great performance in RT mode from any console, strange that they measured different amout of game frames between the two. Probably because of the loading screen on Series vs no loading screen on PS5

I’d say Hitman 3 was a winThey are basically so close it’s hard to really applaud this “win” if the Gen is like this it will be pretty awesome for everyone.

Faked or used old software that's inaccurate.Holy crap did he fake it?
I say so close it is a tie with in the margin of error unless you have a VRR tv then a win for the series x. I still don't get how Sony has not gotten that supported it is baked in forever in AMD hardware so the software side should of been trivial. They knew about it from the one x ffs. They are basically so close it’s hard to really applaud this “win” if the Gen is like this it will be pretty awesome for everyone.

At best he’s incompetent, at worst he’s doing it intentionally. I’ve seen enough inaccuracies that paints the PS5 in a bad light to suggest it’s the latter.Holy crap did he fake it?
Yeah, I knew this wasn't correct because the graph shows screen tearing, there isn't tearing in Resi Evil 8.He messed up pretty badly with Skyrim not to mention he practically stole some info from Digital Foundry and didn't give them any credit for it.
I was just gonna do this. Good work exposing him.
You can't find a cheaper device that supports raytracing period. The fact you can get that in a $300 box is impressive no matter what detractors say. If Capcom dropped the resolution to 1080p and capped framerate at 30 there would be no issue. Both powerful systems are close but XSS loses a lot with RT on.

It's a shame Capcom hasn't implemented this checkerboard solution on PC yet. We've been seeing this CB implementation on PS4/XB1 since RE7.I’m seriously impressed by the Checkerboard solution they’re using. Take note, other devs, this is a good CB implementation. Probably my biggest takeaway from seeing comparisons of this game.
I mean it's a HD gaming console in 2021 that developers don't particularly like.. And now you're recommending should be capped to 30fps for a cross-gen game?? What part of that is impressive for $300?Hi

Let's not kid ourselves, PS5DE is by far better value for money for actual next-gen gaming. More bells and whistles.
Yet I'll get my nefew a Series s because of game pass. I know his parents won't buy him games. So I get him a few gamepass cards and he is good for the year. I gave him my one x for Christmas and gamepass he loves it.I mean it's a HD gaming console in 2021 that developers don't particularly like.. The "interlaced" option is apparently the CB option, but it looks extremely crappy at lower resolutions compared to the console versions so I'm not too sure about that? It's a shame Capcom hasn't implemented this checkerboard solution on PC yet. No. Checkerboard and interlaced are two very different techniques but yeah the idea behind them is the same - to reduce the burden on the GPU at higher resolutions. The "interlaced" option is apparently the CB option, but it looks extremely crappy at lower resolutions compared to the console versions so I'm not too sure about that?
They should be the same technique in this game. Only the wording is different, probably.No. Checkerboard and interlaced are two very different techniques but yeah the idea behind them is the same - to reduce the burden on the GPU at higher resolutions.
So 960x1080?Hi

I know it looks really bad on the X1S. I really haven't seen screens of the game on the XSS so I'm not sure if it looks bad there.
I've been seeing this exact same "interlaced" method in the PC ports since RE7, and they're not the same. I tried 4K interlaced on my PC in RE8 and it looked terrible in comparison to the console's use of CB 4K.They should be the same technique in this game. Only the wording is different, probably.
If they're not, then that's indecent to force PC players to play with a worse technique. It almost seems like developers will use exquisite techs to improve image quality for consoles but will always let PC players left in the dust. That's weird

Yeah, I feel like they couldn't be bothered to implement techniques like this because PC players can brute force higher resolutions with more powerful hardware.![]()
Yep. I remember NXG mentioning the same during RE2/RE3 PC, console analysis. Interlaced and CB are not the same. Were they the same screen?
I haven't hooked up my X1S to try that version as it barely seems worthwhile but I've tried Xbox One X and Series S and the Series S clearly looks better at the locked 60fps modes, image quality is better on Series S and load times are 3-4 seconds whilst they seem like 30 seconds plus on One X.
Resolution mode is. Performance mode is straight native 1080p, IIRC.Isn't the X1X version CB 4K?

The instability rests with Capcom not the XSS. As mentioned later with raytracing off you get even better performance. As far as the the PS5 DE I respectfully disagree. My point was getting a higher performing device for LESS money or even equal not more. You can always pay more and get more. If the PS5 DE and XSS were $299 I'd completely agree with you.Doesn't mean it's performance is acceptable though which is what XSS owners need to know when they turn on RT.
Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it should be that unstable. It's a fair thing to criticize in this comparison.
Edit: You mentioned the value of the XSS. This comparison only makes the PS5 DE value look even better. For 100$ more you get double the framerate worn RT at a much higher resolution. That's pretty impressive for a 399$ box in my opinion.
A minority of devs complaining with early dev kits that don't utilize the full features of the device isn't news worthy. The 30 fps cap is with raytracing enabled without it we are already seeing 60 fps performance. You probably don't know this but raytracing is expensive performance wise. Compromises have to be made to enable it. If you say the PS5 DE at $299 is a better deal than the XSS at $299 I agree with you.I mean it's a HD gaming console in 2021 that developers don't particularly like.. Do you though? That $100 difference gives you almost a full year of Game pass which gives you access to ton of... games the thing a console is designed for. On top of that you get a ton of older titles that are enhanced to run at 60 fps and even 120fps. The $100 MORE expensive PS5 DE runs fewer games at 60 fps. I'm having a hard time finding the value in that. You get a heck of a lot more for only 100$ extra. It's why value can change at different price levels. You certainly don't get such a large upgrade in performance at 100$ extra with the XSX.
Value could be just perception but I think the best value system is the PS5 DE even though it isn't the cheapest one.

The point about the XSX is funny for two reasons. 1 the XSS has more games that run at 60+fps than the X1X AND it has more games with raytracing than the X1X. 2 the XSS is the upgrade to the X1S not the X1X but despite that it still has way better performance.
Well does Game Pass give access to brand new AAA games such as Resident Evil Village?
In the end, you pay 60-70 bucks for this game in both platforms.
