If anything likely fall 2024.

For those of you waiting for X or PS5, if I was in your shoes, I'd just wait the extra 2.5 years and try to score a mid gen refresh. You'll have way more next gen games by then instead of cross-ports.

I skipped PS4 Pro and Scorpio and have never regretted it. Just no chance I will ever waste money on incremental crap like that. Switch 2 will probably be around sometime in that general area, and will be a much better purchase.

And be back to paying double MSRP to scalpers or waiting years to get one easily, only to hear about PS6 first.

I'd say this is just wishful thinking to try and drive sales of 8K TVs, which have had a terrible adoption rate year after year with predictions of sales numbers constantly revised/lowered.

Playing Dead Space 2 in 8K DSR on my 4K TV is absolutely amazing so native 8K would be phenomenal I'm sure but we aren't there yet and shouldn't rely on not near native quality upscaling to get there.

definitely interested in pro models but forget 8K.. just use the extra power to get 4K and better fps locked for every game. attempt 8K with next gen because it will only be half assed anyway right now

Have to have those buzzwords though, cant label the box with the same stickers they have now :)

They are coming

Man not me. I ponied up the cash and had a much better experience than I was having with the base models. If it hadn't been for the refreshes i probably would have just given it up. Felt like they fixed the mistakes of launching such underwhelming hardware in the first place.

For real, people are still having issues getting standard XS Ss/Xs and PS5s.
Not interested even slightly.

We haven't even really had next-gen games yet lol. What a joke.
Ditto. We're basically in the middle of 2022, and we still haven't seen a lot of exclusive games, let alone games that really get power out of the consoles. If this were true, I can't imagine a ton of people would hop on it, aside from standard FOMO nonsense.

Day 1 for a PS5 Pro to play at higher res and 60fps or the PS5 quality mode at 60fps or 40fps with higher settings.

I think Sony should focus on getting the OG PS5 out before any revision. I'm tired of friends crying about stock and scalpers.

1 - Sounds like they’re just guessing.

2 - Doubt it will be what people want/expect.

A refresh is inevitable by end of 2024 but it’s not gonna be some big leap in performance.

The price of a TSMC N5 wafer is ridiculous.

Considering they have PS4 Pro under 2017 (it launched 2016) i would say this is just speculation on their part for now and dates are just inaccurate and in the air.

PS5 Pro, now with increased plastic symmetrical stability on the casing and 10% more ray tracing juices.

DayOne.

It's what I expect. And it is necessary to cover the needs of users of all kinds and their priorities at a time when game development is getting longer (4-5 years).

Instead of being the same with more resolution as it was XBO X and PRO (in response to 4K HDR TV), this time the emphasis will be on RT and better assets.

2024 would be the right date. 4 years is enough time to amortize the investment of XS and PS5.

Day 1 for both for me, I tagged along with a base ps4 up until the PS5 release and the late gen performance was geniunely terrible.

They'll be native 4K with FSR 4.0 upscaling to reach 8K. Nice. Not sure I'd be tempted by a PS5 Pro though, but anything is better than my Series S. 😂

I feel cheated.
Almost nothing came out on ps5, it was hard to get and now PRO will come out just next year ?!
No.... thank you.

I don't like the idea of Pro consoles anyway. Further market fragmentation and expenses. I miss the idea of one console for many years

Day one. Ps5 is the first console in forever that feels high quality all around. Pretty quiet, somewhat strange looking, special cases of more Power then it shouls have ( ratchet looks insane and horizon as well ) and the most important. The dualsense is incredible. First time ever that a Controller ranks in the same League then the snes Controller for me.

The snes Controller is probably still better. The games on the console are just so superb to control with that Controller. Peak 2d Design, but the dualsense is incredible as well.

This is funny and I laughed, but honestly I'm all about the refreshes considering many of my old games keep coming along for the ride and getting improvements. But I also like the best versions of my new games, too. If a 2024 SOC refresh gives me a better experience than a 2019/2020 SOC spec I'll gladly pay for it and pass my old hardware down the resale chain. The fact that my library for the last 8-10 years sometimes benefits is just gravy to me.

Also, once pro consoles come out, base models just fade away and are way more of an inferior experience compared to what they would be if base models were the only focus
