No you don't have to. With hyperbole like this gonna get fake news out like crazy
You can get the items to fast travel in game without paying any real moneyThey are literally selling fast travel for real money. Why not give players the choice on whether to fast travel or not rather than charging them real money for it?

so for the mtx is basically a "deal with it" answer?Official stamement from Capcom:

* in extremely low quantityYou can get the items to fast travel in game without paying any real money*
the main issues are:
- editing character behind paywall
- only one save
- dogshit performance
is it hyperbole though? No you don't have to. With hyperbole like this gonna get fake news out like crazy
From what I've seen it still drops to 30-40 in towns even if you have the best CPU and GPU money can currently buy, and even if you play at minimum settings. That's not ok. The game is clearly very unoptimized.
We had years of gamers telling publishers they need to do stuff beyond graphic stuff. Publishers never can win with gamers.
It should be a fairly common items later in the game? at least that was the case in DD1* in extremely low quantity
My thoughts too.The game is still complete. All games have some sort of microtransactions. Welcome to 2024.
Just a bunch of whiney PC snobs.
you can get character editing item in game without real money as well. You can get the items to fast travel in game without paying any real money

not from what i heard , but again i haven't bought the game because of the various issues. It should be a fairly common items later in the game? at least that was the case in DD1
I mean they don't have to? Plus I'm pretty sure BG3 didn't.The game is still complete. All games have some sort of microtransactions. Welcome to 2024.

While I don’t mind this stuff, I will play the game without buying any MTX, you have them cornered. I will give you that. But don't you think they've already done that ? They would have designed quests in a way that requires you to traverse a lot. Then make the traversal feel like a grind, so that normies will buy your port crystals or whatever. This is fundamental design around mtx rather than around good exploration like Skyrim. They would not make traversal & exploration fun, otherwise no one would buy their crap.
I don't agree with it being a MTX and having those (lazy) options behind paywall, I am just not sure it has that much impact deserving a massive outrage. The edit character issue is massively bullshit thonot from what i heard , but again i haven't bought the game because of the various issues.
and still, if you think that more fast travel has value enough in your game to be sold separately, then maybe you did not make travel "fun enough"
no one is defending them. They are saying they are not needed to play the game, so just don't buy them. If no one buys them then they don't make money off them and don't add them in future games. I didn't buy any in the first one and won't in the second one.I propose a 1 month ban for every gaf user who defends mtx of any kind ina full price game.

The DLC is stupid but that is in all Capcom games and not really something I would be interested in anyway. Game is fucking awesome and I was getting 90-100 FPS in the open world at all times which is where most of the time is spent anyway. The framerate tanks in the capital city but you’re just walking around talking to NPCs, not fighting so I’m not too bothered. Feels like a fixable bug.
my guess is that the designers developed and balanced the game and the mtx team just added the shop on top because moneyI can’t say I’m impressed with the devs on this one. One minute they are telling us that rare save points is by design, then they are selling the ability as a microtransaction.

Yup game is currently Janky as hell also wish FOMO didn’t get meWhat a steaming turd this game launches as. Can't understand people buying, let alone preordering this.
Just buy it when it's like 20 USD and all this shit has been patched out.
Refund?Yup game is currently Janky as hell also wish FOMO didn’t get me
Well past 2 hoursRefund?
You can change it whenever you want. Some of the skills and passives you unlock for one class can be used on others. Can you instantly change your job on the fly? to any job and respec without detriment or cost?
This is true, sadly. That's not a solution, that's bearing with it.
We can't vote with our wallets because there are enough idiots who buy this shit up and it changes the way we are used to SP game offerings.
You forgot „pay 75€ to do all this“Here's what I can say after 3 hours.
- I already have at least 4 wakestones. You can get them very quickly from hiring pawns and doing the default pawn quest of using them for 1 in game day.
- I already have a little over 2k rift crystals. If you want to hire overleveled pawns to play the game for you then buy them I guess. You're the target for this anyways.
- Dunno about portcrystals. Don't have any but also have zero need to use one yet.
- No new game from the menu is a ridiculous oversight but it's easy to actually restart. "I shouldn't have to mess with my files!" Cool. Keep complaining instead of just fixing it yourself.
-- Turn off cloud saves. Go to D:\Steam\userdata\*your account number\2054970\remote\win64_save and copy the files into a backup folder just in case you screw it up. Keep the files that start with "SS" as those are your saved character appearance and delete the rest (don't remember which was the settings file so either redo your settings or figure out which file). Start a new game. Turn on cloud saves and sync using the files on your PC. I literally had to do this as I goofed up the character transfer and it took hardly any time to figure out.
I wonder how many more of these silly posts we'll get even though it has been explained over and over again you can earn all of this shit in game just by playing...nobody bothers to read the thread or the dlc descriptions. They are literally selling fast travel for real money. Why not give players the choice on whether to fast travel or not rather than charging them real money for it?
Games journalists are actually scum.
Game runs like shit? 9/10
Game has paywalled basic features like editing your character? 9/10
Never mind the anti-consumer bullshit, it has “emergent” gameplay and is GoTY material! Again - part of making a game is technical (not running like ass) and another part is having respect for your audience.
It is shortcut not a requirement. Its not? They talked so much about how limited fast travel is the core of the game yet they starts selling fucking fast travel for real money?
What people would think if souls games started selling soul packs?
I can't wait until my garage door opener requires $.99 each time I use it. Hopefully they will have a garage door crystal bundle where I can get 10 opens for $7.50.
But hey, I can always get out and open the door manually.
But don't you think they've already done that ? They would have designed quests in a way that requires you to traverse a lot. The director is right.
all mtx are shortcuts and not requirementsIt is shortcut not a requirement.
dlc like this are in persona and tales games also.
It is fucking nothing.jpg
MTX in a single player game like this is stupid no matter how you slice it. Obviously it isn’t the end of the world since everything can be found/earned in game, but it’s still stupid.Don't worry, this thread will be over 20+ pages and people will still be making comments about needing to pay money for fast travel and wakestones. Not sure why DG2 is getting all this hate when Capcom has implemented similar MTX practices in other games.
Then why not disclose MTX before people pre-ordered? Or tell reviewers so we can make informed decisions.Don't worry, this thread will be over 20+ pages and people will still be making comments about needing to pay money for fast travel and wakestones. My point is that you are not required to buy anything and not miss out of content.all mtx are shortcuts and not requirements
what's your point?
Is video game development unsustainable that you have to put fast travel and character editor behind a paywall?
Or is this just f*ing greed and these c*nts want to make as much money as they can by seeing how many twats play devils advocate and defend these practices.
Some of the responses in this thread...
The original also launched with similar microtransactions.
From what i see, these are not necessary to enjoy the game, still sucks though.
Devil May Cry 4 & 5 have the same type of MTX with Red Orbs. This has been a thing forever in Itsuno games.
When Monster Hunter launches with $40 of microtransactions: crickets
This is par for the course for Capcom these days
Save scummers on suicide watch.

Play the game and stop overthinking everything. You can change your build throughout the game, reviews mentioned it. Seems like its required at times based on what Dreamcast guy said.
These microtransactions are par for the course with Capcom they even have all kinds of random items for RE. Been this way for nearly a decade, if not longer.

That's what people are complaining about?
Complete non-issues.
Saying singleplayer game is P2W is dumb as well.
Only if you have old PCs or cheap CPUs.
I’m running it on a 3.5 year old gpu and a 3 year old CPU and it’s fine. Some drops in towns. But nothing game breaking during gameplay.
Yes they cost a pretty penny back then but These games are targeting 30 fps on next Gen consoles which means you need 2x better GPu and 2x better cpu to get 60 fps on PCs. I see 1060, 2060, and 3060 dominating the steam charts still. All weaker than the ps5 and xsx. Time to upgrade to the 3080s like i did and pair it with decent current Gen CPUs. Not zen 2 trash.
All of these things were in the first game too and you don't need any of it.
The portcrystals you get by playing the game, but you actually need to place them manually; ferrystones were a limited resource, but you'd effectively have infinite amounts of them just by playing, dark arisen added an infinite ferrystone.
Changing appearance was also done in-game with buying a scroll to do so, and it's the same here in DD2, you can just buy it in-game if you need a different look. The first game also had an infinite scroll after beating the dragon.
You'll earn RC constantly and probably won't ever run out.
Wakestones you'll be swimming in as well.
Of all these I can only see portcrystals as giving an advantage, but it's kind of a wack advantage because you still need to travel to a place where it's worth to place one...which you won't know unless you've already been most places.
It’s ok to call out but boycotting and artificial negative scores because of this are stupid. Game itself is good. This is optional inconvenience at best
They're completely optional it seems, same as the other Capcom games like RE and Monster Hunter, just there in case you wanna speed things up
Bit of a non issue and easily ignorable like the Ubisoft ones
Is the MTX essential to enjoy the game? Would the game play better and be more fun without these MTXs? If no, then I fail to see the problem and understand the outrage over MTXs like these, because not buying these MTXs is virtually identical for us as if they didn't exist in the first place.
Since I don't understand the problem and outrage of this, I get the impression that the people who are deeply bothered and vocal about this are really troubled by merely the possibility, potential, or temptation of buying MTXs, by either not being able to but wanting to or some sort of annoying FOMO.
I never spend money on MTXs so their mere existence here doesn’t bother me.![]()

Reviewers were informed, they were given a list of microtransactions and the cost. They weren't live for the reviews, but they were given a list. If you didn't see or hear about it, complain to the reviewer you watched/readThen why not disclose MTX before people pre-ordered? Or tell reviewers so we can make informed decisions.
As for "other games had this practice" - Am I supposed to be an encyclopedia of MTX history. Or be required perform laborious research on any purchase I make to determine what % chance another game will have these types of practices?
Ok, that was my only concern about all this stuff, and the fact that the reviewer had it solve this too.Reviewers were informed, they were given a list of microtransactions and the cost. They weren't live for the reviews, but they were given a list. If you didn't see or hear about it, complain to the reviewer you watched/read
I think what they said was the game does not need horse for traverse as it is "fun" to travel by foot. The fast travel mechanic are always there.
and again, every single mtx in every single game, including the most predatory mobile games, are just shortcuts and not mandatoryMy point is that you are not required to buy anything and not miss out of content.
