Publishrs going like "fine...we don't want to make physical games anymore anyway. here's your digital copy".This should be simply illegal. If you can play the game offline, you shouldn't be forced to go online with a physical disc. This game is going to bomb anyways...
It should be illegal. But consumers need to fight back by not buying it.This should be simply illegal. If you can play the game offline, you shouldn't be forced to go online with a physical disc. This game is going to bomb anyways...
It says in the OP that the disc build is 85GB in size and can be played fine after the DRM check. What’s the install size? It’s probably bigger than the disc.
!?!?Omitted context for rage engagement most likely.
That's his go to when he sees criticism for any game now. It's all rage bait by grifters grifting. Just ignore him.!?!?
Yeah, I know. That's why I'm calling him out on his BS.That's his go to when he sees criticism for any game now. It's all rage bait by grifters grifting. Just ignore him.
99% of the stuff out there about this game is engagement farming.Yeah, I know. That's why I'm calling him out on his BS.
Dude, you ain't fooling anyone here. Just do us a favor and sit this one out.99% of the stuff out there about this game is engagement farming.
Wasn't it pressed a while ago, before the delays?
They do everything they can to make the game a failure.
I just refuse to buy games that do this shit. Ubisoft needs all the good will they can get; they last thing they should be doing is committing crimes against physical games.
Long live the D I S C

Agreed. AC: Shadows needs to preserved to ensure the history of Japan is depicted accurately for future generations.Apparently it's a 1-time online check. Still bothersome and unnecessary, not to say fatal for preservation.
No wonder piracy is increasing again.
I feel bad for people on submarines who wanted to install this from their disc copy when it releases.
Is it just an adversion to the word cock or it's deeper than that? The term "cooked" really needs to fuck off and die already
Just another instantaneously overused internet term that's like nails on a fucking chalkboard every time I see someone use it.
Almost every game will boot directly from the disc. Some Activision games are usually the exception.I don’t really see how this is newsworthy because every single day one patch obviously requires Internet connection and I don’t believe there’s been a game in recent memory that simply booted up from a disc, immediately without needing to download some kind of update from the internet. This is just how games work now, in the modern era. Where day one patches and constant hot fixes are sent out, etc. after a game goes gold.
If you want to live in a reality in gaming, where you are not dependent upon connecting to the Internet, at least some of most of the time, in order to have your games play functionally, you need to go back to the GameCube era, quite honestly.
I enjoy shitting on people who complain about the need for internet connection as much as the next person with a phone. However, those are horrible examples. None of those appliances need internet to work for its base functionality to function.Even fridges and washing machines need internet to work these days… What’s the issue?![]()
Right, I should clarify I’m not talking about booting from the disc. I’m saying the system automatically downloading an update when it detects that the game disc is in the tray, because the disc version is outdated already. Which is always the case because the version on the disc is weeks/months old. And games nowadays are constantly updated all the time.Almost every game will boot directly from the disc. Some Activision games are usually the exception.
This. Like I said previously, you have to go back to like the PS2 and GameCube era if you’re trying to for whatever reason avoid needing regular updates to all of your game library. The idea of buying a new game today in 2025, and expecting to install it from disc and then start playing with no patch... I feel like I must be missing something here.

it's different on pc.![]()
We have to deal with 1st time online connection on PC since Half-Life 2 was released and since then....
It's shitty that they're not selling working offline builds though, which is not good for preservation.
I know that, that's why I mentioned game preservation which won't be possible unless they'll release complete version at some point with all the patches and DLCs.The online activation means that there will be no way to play v1.0 in the future straight off the disc
