The more it happens the wiser we become and we can start picking out these elements like birds finding worms hiding in grass.

This game's drama ultimately will provide more content to digest then the actual game's will.

Judging by the previews and gameplay footage all characters are androgynous especially when it comes to gear/armor. In February there will probably be more schoolgirl gossip that will turn out to be true. Before the game is utterly overshadowed by Monster Hunter Wilds.

February feels rather bloated with the amount of stuff coming out in that release window.

The only possible reasons I can think of why they’d hide that are because there’s something in it that they think will get them negative publicity/lost sales, and/or they’re making some last minute changes after seeing how badly that worked out for Veilguard.

There is this difference between JRPG and WRPG developers that i admir.
JRPG = just make a game, please buy our game, only talks about the game, respects the gaming hobby as a whole and treats it as a separate art, spends entire development trying to get better.

It's definitely a decision that was made after Veilguard's was received poorly which is backfiring spectacularly for them. Meanwhile Capcom had nothing to hide with SF6, DD2, MH Wilds and those Creators have positive reception. And all of Tecmo Koei's creators with Nioh 2, Wo Long, Rise of the Ronin are also great.

It very much is a Western Game Dev problem.

It sucks. All the signs were there in Outer Worlds that this studio was going woke and putting The Message ahead of story and characters. I had a small sliver of hope that they’d do better for Avowed, even as the rest of the western entertainment industry was doubling down on the woke shit.

I still hope it is a great game, although I have massive doubts. Hopefully the game director has a better sense of priorities than the art director. My guess the art director isn't the guy making the call on pronoun usage in the first place, but this guy just needs to lash out at Musk from the safe confines of bluesky and all the adoration it brings. That's all the benefit of the doubt for the game's sake that I can muster about this.

Bad optics will always create an uphill battle no matter how good a game is.

Asmongold will no doubt make a video about the bluesky post and then it will spread like wildfire. That alone is going to alienate a huge chunk of their potential audience.

Not true. I'm playing Dungeon Master Return To Chaos and there are no gender flags or pronouns anywhere. They are only really so important in modern games because they are not so much about dungeons any more and more about dolly dress up, dating simulation and harem anime. All you need for a proper RPG is a 2d character portrait, an editable name, and an editable text bio, but almost all the shite you get now has none of those.

LOL. So glad Microsoft is buying up all these studios and turning them to shit. Hard to say who is to blame anymore. The publisher pushes it, but clearly the developer wants to do it as well. It really just sucks the life out of these games and forces them to be bland. Hard to call video games art when there are so many constraints on them. There are only so many allowable outcomes of a game when every part of the game is micromanaged by these never ending checklists that are highly subjective. Anybody can come in at any time and say your game doesn't meet that list and force you to change it. Hey wait, that person has exaggerated body proportions. That female isn't equal to that male. That armor doesn't fit their task. That is a negative gender stereotype. And so on.

The writing and story comes across as very childish and immature, yet they push DEI and LGBT down your throat, so you may not consider that family friendly. In the end, it is a game made for nobody.

I am surprised to see a Starfield Creation that changes female bodies to be more curvy. How did that get past the bland police?
