This comparison is nonsense, because to write a Steam review and rate a game you need to own it in your library, which is not the case on Metacritic.
Green rats are acting like pattern recognition isn't a thing yet we've seen this with Western AAA RPGs not once, but multiple times, including DA and Starfield.

80% is already in line with Metacritic and the events you describe can clearly be observed as spikes on the review graph, and can even be excluded from the filter. On the 100 point scale, an 80 is really nothing amazing.
They have infinite money anyway. It's not like they will be almost bankrupt like SEGA and Sony (PS3).

I'm just saying that positive ratings on Steam mean nothing (they really should implement third option), it just a proof that game kinda works.

If there are 1000 or more reviews this one "wrong" review doesnt matter at all. I dont say the steam review thing is 100% bullet proof (how could it ever be?)...but its the best we have. (or show me a better one)
The overall tone if you read the positive reviews is that the game is simply meh, it's just lack of steam options inflating the rating. That's why you need to read what people think and not skim through average (and useless) score.

I would argue if Sucker Punch released something like Avowed it would've been ratio'd to oblivion by both press and players. Just look at Days Gone.
I liked Days Gone at first I just got bored after a while the whole concept is totally my thing too. I'm not trying to start an argument but the Sony bias here is real just read. I think Avowed is pretty good so far I put some time into it 3-4 hours I am enjoying it enough.
