I remember you once said that you don't care about the possible impact gamepass might have regarding the quality of games being made as long as you get them cheaper. That was your bottom line, you save money. Oh, Eriksson you are so full of it.
All those IP's they bought, all those AAA games turn into AA (or lower, if anything at all) games but you're happy because you got call of duty on gamepass. Keep it up eriksson.

Come on man, you’ve been asking for like 2 years in private messages who I am, already said I’m not your buddy Erik or Eriksson or whatever else you’ve imagined. Talk to me in private in swedish if you want to talk about out of board things, this is getting ridiculous.

And I’ve been 100% consistent from day 1 on Gamepass, as long as I get it cheap I’ll use it to save money and yes it’s been great for that.
I’m glad I got to play Call of Duty last year and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Avowed now without extra payment, should I not be that??
Maybe if you tried using PS+ Premium you would understand where I’m coming from, I liked that as well when I got that through similar cheap deals (stacked PSNow to Premium conversion, $5/month). Sadly that sub has ended now. Still have GP cheap for another year. After that? Who knows.

It was however the game of the generation. Let's put things in relative context, please.

To be fair. There's a lot of users that like to talk about numbers and not quality here so, yes. Starfield was an absolute beast and incredible success on steam.

Does that make it good?...far from it, but it's deffo the kind of metric that gets a large portion of this forum horny.

If people want to talk quality, Avowed currently sits at 7.1 user-rating on Metacritic:

You're using user-rating as a metric? That too on Metacritic?

Why are you using Metacritic reviews to judge? The issue is that all the console warriors jump onto that site as they can post without proof of purchase which leads to a s*** show. If you want a more accurate representation, have a look on Steam reviews. It has a larger number of reviews (nearly 2900 at the time of writing) and is Very Positive (82%). Of course I guess you only see what you want to see.

SteamDB shows 78% rating out of 3K scores.🤷🏾‍♂️

Anyway, I was just pointing out after DenchDeckard DenchDeckard wanted to use quality as a metric instead of CCU.

Although, both can be used.

Thats extremly low amount of reviews, bro, 3k, even da:v that we know was big bomb had 37k reviews (and 89k ccu ;p)

For obsidian's sake i hope they get at least those measly 50k ccu over the weekend otherwise it will be confirmed game flopped in a really nasty way :p

You expect it to become 85% if there's 30k reviews?

Knowing the number is likely inflated by fans, the 7.1 from metacritic doesn't even seem unreasonable.

100% yes. The hype for Starfield was unreal before launch. Steam numbers crashed quickly after realizing its issues

From a marketing perspective, this extended preview is the GOAT. Game looked so good before release, then gamers actually played it

Yup ppl srsly thought its gonna be skyrim in space, obviously bugged at launch but very fun to play and immersive af, to give u perspective polish streamer i follow/like who before starfield played 90% of his time in diablo(d2r) was super hyped about it and streamed starfield too, ofc it was boring af and huge letdown for him but bethesda's/microsoft marketing did flawless job selling the game :)

The same happened with Hellblade 2, Indy and now Avowed.

It's a clear pattern for Xbox 1st party.

Game is awesome.

People will miss out on it for acting retarded.

Wonderful.
It's not... It's a huge downgrade in all RPG aspects compared to previous Obsidian games, even Outer Worlds.
Everything feels extremely fake, nothing is immersive or interactive, it's literally worse than RPGs from 2006.

The only reason you could enjoy it, is if you're only going in it without expecting a RPG at all, if you don't care about immersion / exploration, and just want to get loot, loot, loot.

Nope, i expect it to get lower and lower, probably to below/around 60% only but sale is a sale after all those 60-70$ from steam is just as good from guy who adores the game or another who think its mid at best, as long as no refund ;D

Lol Yeah, agreed on the score.

The question is how many sales it's going to have?
Won't be that many. Nor will it move the needle for GP.
They're going to need every penny, especially from PS installbase.

Exploration, combat, and level design is better than any other Obsidian game. Story and RPG elements are probably the weakest of any Obsidian game. It's definitely a mixed bag. It is certainly more of an action RPG than a traditional RPG

What are you talking about?

It has exceptional exploration. Level design is great.

I really wouldn't call the exploration and level design better than other Obsidian game.
Everything you can climb on has ropes hanging from the edge, it looks ridiculous and it's really not immersive. Sometimes you will see something to climb, with 10 ropes hanging from each corner, it's way too much and really weird looking. I definitely wouldn't call this a good level design, if you constantly need to tell the player where to climb by using something like this, it's not a clever design, at all.

Same about the structure of the world. You will have some platforms that really feel like something out of a platforming game, really "game-y" stuff in a bad way.
There are bridges that don't lead anywhere, just "islands" with enemies on them, no town or camp or anything, just bridges that exist only as a reason for the player to move between platform and kill monsters, but not as something that seem to make sense in the world of the game. I can understand people not caring about that if they're not looking for immersion, but all of this make this exploration and level design absolutely terrible for me.

What's so funny in my post you reacted to? I don't think I've said any lies there, it's all observations from what's actually ingame. It's okay if it doesn't bother you, but it's still things that do lower the quality of the immersion.

Is the character forced to have fungus growing on their face?

There is a character preset that has more of skin mark than fungus. I chose that one. You can turn off showing the shit on your face either way, but then why choose to have it in the first place? It is as if someone came in later and said "let's make the stupid shit optional".

Not saying the game is perfect.

Its funny you are not talking about actual problems. Seems made up criticism.
Maybe they're not actual problems for you if you don't care about these specific things, but for me and other people they are, that's all.
It's really immersion breaking for me to see things like this, the world doesn't feel immersive and it doesn't make me want to explore.

I feel the same way about the loot for example too. The fact that you can't interact with and search dead bodies, but instead you see all loots / items shining and making sound, is a negative for me, because by doing it like this, you also immediately know where there won't be anything. If you're walking around and you don't hear a sound or see something shining, you know there's nothing to find, it makes the world feel less organic, it's less engaging to me, it feels more artificial.

It's really not "made up criticism", it's things I really don't like, and older RPGs, even from Obsidian, did all of this a lot better. Everything feels fake and lazy, but it probably works well if someone wants everything to be fast and immediate, without looking for immersion.

Too much to hope you can turn it off completely? Seems like it’s part of the story. There’s something about the look that triggers trypophobia in me.

All true and I can see how that would bother some. It isn't bothering me at all though - maybe a little at first until I realize it's just not that kind of game.

It can all be turned off (but NPCs will still comment as if it's on because it's plot integral).
