I think we’re already in the twilight of this, my question is whether they’ve come up with some other nonsense to take its place.
It always amazes me how much this wokish stuff can crumble companies when all you got to do if you got some good products going is just be chill and dont do anything stupid. You can take whatever foundational success you got and build on it. Not do a 180. But gaming and media are those kinds of companies where they are willing to wipe the slate clean because some people have a new vision like their idea is the next Thomas Edison braniac idea.
I've been at my company for over 10 years, company does great, growing, rock solid bonuses, and has very limited DEI-ish kind of stuff. We dont even change the company logo to rainbow during pride month. All we get is some canned code of conduct HR stuff to do every once in a while online (involving tons of topics like bribery, privacy and discrimination) and the CEO will send out some ethnic holiday memos to the company (US based based stuff, since it;'s obvious he knows nothing about any other holidays around the world). And that's kind of it. So when I see those American focused memos come out like US Thanksgiving.... Delete.
But product wise, nobody pushes personal politics into it. You'd think it'd be common sense. But nope. I guess tech and TV companies have so much money floating around, they can afford to gas it on dumb projects.
