Crytek Takes Aim with Crysis 3 – The First Blockbuster Shooter of 2013
Fight in the New York ‘Liberty Dome’, Exploit Seven Natural Wonders and Wield Advanced Alien Weaponry in the Ultimate Sandbox Shooter

Pre-order the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition for Early Access to the New Crysis 3 Signature Bow and XP Boost in Multiplayer*

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The hunted becomes the hunter! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) and award-winning developer Crytek GmbH, today announced Crysis® 3, the premier sandbox shooter experience of 2013. Powered by Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE®, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.
“Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

.“Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. “Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Cant wait.

Shame it's spring 13 though. That feels forever away while Fall 12 feels close enough to touch.

Guess Far Cry 3 and Halo 4 will have to tied me over this fall.

I think Crysis 2 visuals are likely about as far as consoles can go, but a much better framerate and maybe, even 5-10% better graphics would be on the wish list.

I'd be in the dick
The concept sounds great. The Seven Wonders thing makes it sounds like it may have a hub world branching off to them, ODST style like someone suggested in the leak thread. Any ETA on screens/trailer?

I'll absolutely be getting this day 1. The Crysis series is the best FPS series going today. I actually hope this is as distinct as 1 and 2 are from each other. I love the others for different reasons and I like it that way.

More on topic, I like how more and more games already have retailer exclusive preorder information right in their official announcement press release.

Next generation begins in 2014 for both Sony and MS.
More and more likely. Too much big stuff is still getting announced for PS360.

Mixing the city with the jungle is an interesting idea. I hope it is more sandbox like the first game.

Ehh, what? Most next gen rumors are beginning to standardize on Fall 2013, and I fail to see how this in any way contradicts that. Get with the times man! Doesn't everybody spend 7 hours a day reading game message boards like I do?

What would make me question late 13 would be if the big annual franchises like COD and AC started announcing their late 13 entrants on PS360. And even that, I'm not sure, since they probably wouldn't want to give up the huge PS360 userbase right away, and might go next gen and current gen concurrently in 2013, and not announce the next gen version till later.

I'd put money on this also coming to x720 after E3.

Then we will have a game out on 360/720 and the comparison madness can really begin.

At first i was disappointed that it will take place in New York again but after looking at those screenshots i have to say it looks interesting. I just hope this time they'll make the game less linear, like the original.

CryTek always put out bullshots with characters doing ridiculous poses, or tossing something, that looks nothing like the real game.

Like i said in the Leaked info thread.
Hope they make a ODST/Metroid hybrid.
One OverWorld(The nanodome) seperated in 7 zones. And you have to go the zones and go to missions. Nice concept but who am i kidding we probably get a linear game like uncharted and co. Where they prompt a cutscene every 5 min.

Actually, all you need to replicate those shots is a camera mod that allows for 3rd person angles and a ridiculous output resolution that are then downsampled in order to achieve that supercrisp "bullshot" look.

Edit : well maybe outside the one where he is standing on lady liberty's (?) head or w/e that is supposed to be, that one is obviously manipulated...

Or uuber sampling ala Witcher 2.
