What is an arrow gonna do against badass alien squids with armor?

A compound bow is very likely to have substantially more momentum behind it than a bullet will. It will be more effective at penetrating armor, although probably less effective at creating large wounds. You wouldn't use a bow on a modern battlefield because they can't compete with the long range accuracy and refire rate of a rifle, but it's not really much more stupid than a man running around punching aliens to death with super strength. Depending on the battlefield situation and the foe you are facing down, it could conceivably be more effective than a firearm.

Actually, all you need to replicate those shots is a camera mod that allows for 3rd person angles and a ridiculous output resolution that are then downsampled in order to achieve that supercrisp "bullshot" look.

Edit : well maybe outside the one where he is standing on lady liberty's (?) head or w/e that is supposed to be, that one is obviously manipulated...

Like i said in the Leaked info thread.
Hope they make a ODST/Metroid hybrid.
One OverWorld(The nanodome) seperated in 7 zones. And you have to go the zones and go to missions. Nice concept but who am i kidding we probably get a linear game like uncharted and co. Where they prompt a cutscene every 5 min.

Your post was exactly what I thought of when I read about the seven zones. I hope it's Metroid style where each one is a different type of environment. Jungle could be the main hub and the others could be water, lava, etc. Each one could have distinct enemy behavior and entirely different approaches to combat. Would be awesome.

....

No.

It is a little funny you know, people calling out non-realism in you know, a video game. Most video games I play, I can get shot a whole bunch of times and it wears off after 15 seconds (though I guess crysis actually has an excuse for that with the nanosuit)!

The bow is in there cause it'll be cool and fun, that's all. They'll make up an explanation.

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

I thought Prophet was dead? Crysis 2 had a clusterfuck of a storyline. Also isn't crysis just ripping off skyrim?

One of the most basic concepts of intergalactic warfare is that once both sides increase the technology behind the weapons, sometimes the defenses get sophisticated enough so that a switch back to more primitive weapons could prove to be more effective until the defender falls back on more primitive defenses as well..

In this case, what to do with that quantum energy shield when you got a friggin ARROW coming at you, not a laser shot? :D

(This, of course, is pure speculation from my part, but it is a proven to be interesting concept).

So will this time nanosuit energy will be drained just for walking around ?
What do you mean? In Crysis 1 I could hardly seem to do any combination of suit powers, since I died so quickly (on normal difficulty?) to faraway accurate enemies, my suit powers ran out so quickly I could not really pick off single guys unless I stealth sniped everyone, and it was kind of frustrating maybe.

In Crysis 2 people complained that the game was too easy because you could be cloaked the entire game. Why would that change be reversed to something worse than Crysis 1?

The setting sounds and looks really cool, though a bit similar to The Last of Us actually, not that that's a bad thing at all.

Looks delicious.

Players take on the role of ‘Prophet’ as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.

Sounds delicious basically the island from the first game but with jungle and city mixed in.

not sure why the bow...I mean if it is for stealth, maybe use a silencer? If for explosive tips, maybe use grenade launcher?

Can't say this fills me with any kind of excitement but 2 was solid enough that I'll probably rent it. Would get it on PC but Origin....

If the string is super tight so that only the Nanosuits strength can pull it it could do some heavy damage. Hopefully there are explosive tipped arrows too.

This just looks like Crysis 2 with a bow to me. Needs more snow or sand.

Meh, will probably rent this.

my god that sounds even worse than Crysis 2's plot. Why is Cell doing this? They were just a PMC in the last game, no?

Next generation begins in 2014 for both Sony and MS.

Why that? Nobody expected the new consoles to come out in spring.

They will be announced at e3 of 2013 in June ( not spring ) and will be out right before XMAS. ( also not spring )

I'll get this, but I hope they fix all the MP Lag and can balance the hit detection, so it does not completely ruin the experience again.

If they take advantage of their lighting engine, I think this setting will prove to be really interesting.

I'm not saying anybody in their right mind would deploy bows to front line soldiers. But a modern bow is no slouch for armor penetration. Don't forget that even oldschool bows were punching straight through fully armored knights on horseback, and compound bows give the user a substantial mechanical advantage over those.

Why advertise 7 distinct environments and then show one? Why focus the marketing around a weapon like the Bow? Unless it has explosive tipped arrows, it should be pretty useless against non-human enemies.

Oh man, I get sick in the stomach when reading the description of the Hunter Edition.. additional powers? Start at LVL5?

And it looks like a Crysis 2 mod to me right now.. with a little bit The Last Of Us in it

What the fuck is this? Why is it so hard to come up with a story that makes some fucking sense at least?

Looks to be equally linear to Crysis 2... do not like.

And jumping 30 years in the future and no better tech? lol

Hopefully this runs better than C2 on consoles.

Should have given them 7-8 months and just made this a launch title for the PS4 and 720. =p

dem bullshots... oh, wait, PC version!

All of the graphics were fake when I got to play it myself on highest graphics. Nothing looked like the real life screenshots they showed.
?! games looks incredible in highest settings; there are many screenshots here in the thread and they are absolutely fantastic
