last week i slept with a girl i used to date a year ago, she's a friend but it's nothing serious...

thing is, i feel like i have no motivation to date at all now, online dating feels utterly pointless right now. this plus I had a date with a girl online a month ago but it led to nowhere, she said she'd meet me again in a text, I've said yes but no news since. I feel like shit, i really don't want to go through the whole grueling process of finding someone online all over again.

I'm just in the shits even though i had sex last week, can you believe it? maybe i have feelings for my friends (a long term relationship seems out of the question)

edit: okcupid really is depressing to me, none of those profiles interest me, like at all.

Relating to the profile does work but just hey or hi I find is not a great plan. I wouldn't suggest that. You don't need to be very clever or witty more so than just say something that stands out. I was reading a dude who makes a weak ass acrostic poem out of the persons name. Gets a lot of success. My friend got mileage out of "what's your third fav reptile".

Like it's not exceptionally hard. Once you get into a groove of the type of messages that work for you it's not an issue.

Fair enough. Personally hi is enough to get me to respond but I'm a guy lol. In general girls just suck at sending first messages. The ratio on dating apps makes it so they dont have to.

It's kinda dumb though but looking through some of my women friends phones it's just a sea of hey and hi and it became obvious you gotta do something different to stand out

I would say based on personal experience, straight girls really suck at first messages too :p

So many hey and hi messages. Incredibly rare for the first message to be about the profile. But if they're good looking and got something interesting in their profile, I still pursue it instead of dismissing them out of sight lol.

Yeah, I send longer messages on OKC, short messages on HER., 50/50 on other sites for me whether I send long or short messages. For myself, I figure I got enough working against me I need to do whatever I can to make myself stand out.

I dunno. Like I said, I have like 3 standard lines that generally get a response (like 80% success rate). I just had to try a bunch of different things before I got to this point. But now I dont really have an issue keeping interest of the other party. I found the only real issue with communication is when you let it go on for too long without setting up the date.

I'm new to datingGAF. Had to get some personal stuff (aka dealing with being trans and coming to terms with myself + giving time to transition). Still not 100% there yet, but close enough I feel like I can potentially find some people to date.

Still single here too. Haven't been in a good head space recently - I'm completely unable to accept compliments about my appearance. Friday night, I had a friend all too willing to jump my bone, calling me cute constantly....and I straight up didn't believe them. (I have no desire to sleep with this friend, for so many reasons)

If that seriously is what it is, don't worry about it! Sex isn't the one defining thing in a relationship, and if a woman is more experienced that you are, they usually aren't going to mind. Plenty of virgins at your age even if society likes making it like "if you haven't boned by 18 you're a failure". It's dumb and leads to men in particular having serious self-confidence issues when it really isn't a huge deal.

You get better with practice, not with "I love you".
