FYI, when you are in power armor and fall a pretty small distance, you do a stomp move. This stomp move will be perceived as an attack by people nearby.

If a giant robot man (or woman) crashed near me with enough force to damage me, I would also perceive that as an attack :p

Damn. I'm starting to believe that it is random, but everyone's seed is generated at the start of their game. It then stays with that same probability throughout the game?

Because I'm at the point where every area I goto has at least one legendary enemy. Hell in the beginning of the game, I ran into a legendary radroach lmao.

On normal BTW.

It's not seed based. It's modified random. The higher level an enemy is and the higher difficulty the game is the higher the chances are that an enemy that spawns is a legendary. Because the game skews the average levels of spawn points to your level you simply see more legendaries the higher level you are. While testing I found out that the items that drop are spawned once the enemy spawns.

God damnit Preston.

It's like Fallout 1 all over again.

Ya know what? You might be right. This would explain why I am running into legendaries left and right.

I am overleveled for my beginning areas because I play slowly and explore EVERYTHING. Thus, in order to match me the game has to send out legendaries.

Sure feels good, man.

It seems that we're (finally) getting a patch soon..

Hopefully it fixes the bug which can make some locations unusable by making all the floors invisible....Corvega Plant is one such place for me

I imagine there are more pressing issues which need sorting out first though

Should have told Preston to stay put in the back :p

I told a companion to stay put on a roof once so I could go inside the building and stealthboy steal some shit

I am finding it really difficult to get 50 misc. objectives. There's a trophy for that :(

I finished the game and didn't even comprehend what counted as "misc objectives".

Would that be objectives marked (Optional)? I appreciate when Trophy descriptions are more literal. Some of the ones in this game are vague as hell. I still have no idea what the criteria for "Catch a Touchdown" or "Hit a Homerun" are.

how do you tell which quest is a mainline quest?

Look at the Trophies/Achievements. If the quest has a Trophy, it's a main quest.

It is not.
I was spoiled about a major part of the ending (the amount time between certain events) when someone posted what I thought was going to be a quest question. I admit I have been on the warpath ever since.

Am I wrong for reminding people that questions pertaining to end game story elements are meant for the spoiler thread?

Evan after raiding the
fish packing plant
my quest for aluminum never ends, you would think 81 surgical trays would last awhile, but nope.

Still can't believe the amount of content in this game, 50 hours and there is still so much to do!

Do you use the quest log? It literally says "miscellaneous". Well that's how you can tell it is a smaller objective anyways <.<

Oh, those.... wow, 50 of those seem pretty hard to come across, assuming the repeating miscellaneous quests don't count. (Like returning Technical Documents)

I got three legendaries already and I just got to Diamond City. Only one is really decent for me though.

I won't lie, I felt pretty dumb as soon as I saw the big wall and saw the Diamond City signs and only then realized why it was called that :p

Yo, crazy settlement people, I need advice. What the fuck did you do with the flat concrete foundation where the "wrecked houses" were in Sanctuary Hills? Standard walls don't fit at all within the square and it looks like shit otherwise.

Reunion Quest - need help, possible bug

So at some point halfway through the level in the underground area Nick V disappeared. I just killed Kellogg and then Nick appears outside the door on the far end. I cannot open the door, and he can't come through. I'm not sure how to get out other than to backtrack through the whole place. Is that door supposed to open?

Might just have to reload a save.

Don't put down the walls first. Put the floor/foundation first, then the walls afterwards to ensure the walls are snapped properly.

So I ran into a bunch of legendary enemies recently and scored some weapons. Got a hunting rifle that ignores 30% damage resistance and a 10mm pistol that has 25% bonus damage.

So those are straight up better than the standard versions and I should put all my mods on those right?

All those screws...

Well, the base weapon is the same and the difference is just perk vs no perk.

My legendary drops are poop. I keep getting melee or dot weapons. In the past hour I got two legendary deathclaw gauntlets with one inflicting cryo and an explosive shotgun.

I will say that the legendary drop system makes exploring so much more exciting when any encounter has the possibility of a legendary enemy.

Sent Nick to Sanctuary when I picked up a new companion. Did a couple of small quests with my new buddy then decided I wanted to team up with Nick again for the next main quest. Went back to Sanctuary, could find him anywhere. Slept in my house for 24 hours, got up, looked around everywhere again...no Nick. So I built a bell, rang it, and everyone in Sanctuary gathered round....still no Nick. Ok, so I retraced my steps back to where I dismissed him, maybe he got stuck in that location? Nope, no Nick. I'm freaking out a bit now, fearing the worst. I decide my last chance would be to find him back in his office in Diamond City...but he wasn't there. With a heavy heart I decided to give up and move on to the next quest. I enter the building and there is Nick, chatting with someone, waiting for me to start the quest :)

Oh shit. Once you earn your companions perk you don't need them to hang around anymore? I have been doing this all wrong.

Use "floors" to make a new foundation on top of that foundation. Wooden floors make stuff like that work.

Edit whoops you already got it.

Any missions that point to it from the mainland or is it just something I have to look for.

I never got any kind of indication that it's even reachable. I just tried on a whim, completed a basic task on the island (no quest associated) and fought a big battle or two. Then it was mine.

The entire island, dude.

I once had the Pipboy tell me Sanctuary hit 18 people up from 9, happiness was dropping rapidly, so I went there and bam - still only 9 people.

at this point it's accepted the settlement aspect is bugged whenever you leave.

I hope that whenever they patch it they also make it clear whether food/water can be shared if one place has an excess and is in a trade route. I keep seeing conflicting info.
