Forgive my ignorance, but isn't one of the promises of the current generation an easier path from developer to console publishing? We're dealing with 7-year old bureaucratic red tape that wasn't even in the architect's plans when the systems were designed. I get that it won't bear any relevance with the past generation, but seems like the sooner we can get things rolling on PS4/Xbone the better for everyone involved.

I don't understand why shit like this has to be a 'promise'. It's fucking ridiculous. All of these promotions, these programs--fucking ridiculous.

Just let these people get their fucking shit out.

I wanna hear this shit from smaller devs. They probably have the same issue regarding content updates like LZ do. Keits posts here yeah? He'd probably share some insight regarding how updating Divekick is

Reading this tweet string by Lab Zero. I really hope people like Sony/MS fix their content submission system regarding PSN

Stuff like this could kill indie fighting game developers if they had the same unfortunate standings as LZG. It takes so much as updating a game /months/ because of the ridiculous submission issues regarding consoles.

If this keeps up well, indie fighters will only really be successful on PC. Sales wise? That's good. To having any sort of scene/competitive standing? It's gonna be bankrupt

Nothing wrong with running tournies on laptops. SG can be run perfectly on a 10-yr laptop, and nearly every PS3/360 stick works fine on PC.

Anecdotally, the patch for 3S:OE took almost a year to come out.

I'm not saying that the system isn't fucked-in-half stupid. It is. It's also a system that probably wasn't in consideration nearly a decade ago when the systems were being designed. It still sucks, though. That's why self-publishing being a key bulletpoint in the PS4's reveal conference was so exciting- it seems like the bullshit is getting cut in half .

The only problem with this is that TO's already have invested money in dozens of 360's/PS3's. They'd have to re-invest in dozens of laptops, dozens of PC copies of games they've already purchased on other systems, etc etc...it adds up.

Higher investment toll on TOs, which eventually leads smaller scale tournies like Skullgirls to be BYOC-esque regarding laptops.

It's just words for now...but Yoshida is a cool guy.

@yosp In all seriousness, submitting to multiple regions is a burden for a small company like ours. Global submission would be a huge help.

@LabZeroGames I agree 100%

I mean, Skullgirls pretty much has experienced the toughest series of events ever for a developer not called 3D Realms but you have to realize this isn't like any other content submission considering the circumstances. I think this is sort of extreme though, concept approval? C'mon now, there are other methods (which they'll likely still go through afterwards) of determining if they're just submitting some BS to the marketplace. There should be some sort of expediting system for these kinds of situations.

Except for lack of standardization and security in investment for the next 6-7 years, because that's what games are designed around. Even if you are buying a bunch of laptops, you run the risk of getting either a shitty port or maybe something that doesn't play well with the hardware. Laptops seem like a comparatively better idea halfway through the gen IMO, but then you're already that deep.

SG is hardly representative of what we should expect for the coming years too, unless anime/poverty really does take over.

I don't know the guy personally but it's probably been a rough time for him, his friend/roommate passes away, his team disbands, he leaves his home and moves across the country into a different situation with different people, etc. He does some dumb things some times but you gotta cut him some slack on the last few months.

Agreed, if one of my best buds passed away I'd be in quite a funk for a good amount of time. We should never have this stupid expectation that players (even top shelf ones) aren't human and have no emotions that can affect their play or general mood. I respect Chris G for everything he's accomplished and he doesn't get enough credit for his past achievements.

From the Disney Interactive layoffs thread:

“We’re not exiting any businesses, and we will pursue licensing partnerships in which we retain a lot of creative input,” Mr. Pitaro said. “But this is a doubling down on mobile and an effort to focus much more intently on a core set of priorities.”

Maybe Capcom can get the MvC4 license for cheap and put out the mobile version by the end of 2014. But really, this is super shitty. 700 people being laid off is unreal.

Hi guys, I'm going to throw something out there while this is still in recent memory.

So, I'm from TN and help out with Kumite in Tennessee, and I'm just curious what people liked/didn't like about it. Looking for feedback really, had a great year this year and the guys in charge are looking at future events.

Remind me of the event, again? What were some of the highlights? I'd like to help but I'm not sure if I payed attention to it or not.

I just really want him to level up his combos in Marvel, they look so stale... Even though he is soul fisting his opponents the majority of the time.

I never understood the thought process behind wanting someone to not have "stale" combos. If they do the job, then that should be what matters.

.

Sometimes you trade damage for wake-up setups/positioning/resets but that's about it really. Seems to be purely a spectator's point of view.

Chris doesn't do kill combos as often as other top players, but his neutral is so strong he doesn't need to. Often he'll avoid risking a TAC and just do knockdown into Astral Vision.

it looked fine on stream. no drops. the matches were good. the play behind your back was interesting.

Just from messing around Yuri seems super super good in KOFXIII. Super hop EX Fireballs, easy pressure and mixups, good air mobility.

Just a lot of juice compared to Leona who was in her spot previously. I'll have to check out her juicy bit.

Duo Lon/Yuri/Kim seems like a lock.
