SCII HD Online is getting a Patch



Well didn't expect this. Felt really burned about SCII HD's online mode and this makes it a lot better. Plus they fixed the glitches from the Pal/Arcade versions too.

Just saw this. I'm kinda shocked. I'll really miss Maxi's BS low though.

EDIT: I also doubt this is going to fix the actual netcode, just the filtering and connection indicators, but I guess we'll see.

Indestructible character select theme and Vanilla announcer really made Vanilla SF4 stand out.
Might be nostalgia and all, but it was some pretty cool stuff.

It gave the game some personality compared to Super.

The netcode always felt fine to me. I never had any problems playing someone within my region. The problem with the game was the matchmaking with people from outside your region and not displaying the connection quality which is what the patch is going to address.

It's Smash, unless those CRTs are regarding something else but I doubt it. MLG doesn't use old games and wouldn't consider anything besides Melee only because it still has a huge following.

Just had a random thought: if fighting games put you into Tekken Ghost Battle-esque AI battles if matchmaking can't find anybody near your skill level, would that help out newbies getting into games where the online scene quickly becomes top heavy after the launch window? Would you get offended if you weren't allowed to be able to distinguish whether the opponent was a human or CPU? How would you handle BP/PP rewards in this case?

Did you change your name? I don't remember you but about a year ago I was by far the biggest flux hater in gaf. Even I have to admit he's got a lot better in the past year.

Nah, I got in last year June and got accepted by July/August. I don't hate Flux as a person, he's a real chill guy and loves anime, I have to respect that. My beef is his team and how he doesn't win majors with said team, it just disappoints me. I think he hasn't leveled up his synergy but his individual characters. His Zero has been lacking for quite a while but to make up for it, his Dante is steadily improving.

MLG would't "scumbag" Evo out of Melee, I don't think. They've always been supportive of the grassroots stuff regarding the Smash scene. I don't see why this would be any different.
