Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC |OT| The Definitive Edition

How many times is this dumb ass card game going to be forced on us?
I felt like this at first but then in clicked and I built some awesome decks. Some of the level 10+ players though I failed to beat.

But like the last poster said, you don’t have to play it.

I want to love this, but I feel a bit burnt out on this series after plowing through Remake for 33 hours.

It just opened up, after the intro and I'm in a big area right now on my way to a farm.

The game now feels more like FF14 ARR or Xenoblade.

Which I like, but seeing as I'm working a new demanding job and studying, this game feels too overwhelming to combine with my current situation...

I'm loving the silly tone though, it has some real Like A Dragon vibes. Which I like. But it feels overwhelmingly big and deep.

Think I'm gonna pause playing the game for now.

You can literally skip the entire game if you want. No-one is forcing you to do anything.

Yep. I hated this game at first but after some time I really started to like it and beaten everyone except The Queen. It's not as good as Gwent but it's still quite good.

are you on the ship?

only that time it forced on us. yes, it is annoying. it should be optional.

you can forfeit the tournament but the Red 13 part should not be forced.

Good. No one should be allowed to miss this jam.

Having finished all side-content on chapters 1-6 and having finished with Costa Del Sol, I am now free to explore the Corel Region.

Man, I love this game. Not gonna lie, after playing the horrendous DLC of Remake, I was afraid that Rebirth would be just as much ass, but holy shit, it's three times better than Remake, and I loved Remake (besides its DLC).

I must admit I was surprised to see that Fort Condor here is just a four-part side quest. I thought it was going to be as Queen's Blood, as Intergrade insinuated, a perpetual mini-game throughout the whole game.

It's not that bad, it helps that you can restart it quite easily how many times you want and for me almost all types the forced mini games break the pace, there are a few instances where they are welcomed and it fits.

It's a matter of how you view games, habit, taste, if you like them more straightforward, if you like having tons of extra things to do, no matter how or why. For some, mini games should never be part of the main campaign, others think differently, especially big FF7 fans, also mini games were a huge thing in the original FF7.

I'm somewhere in the middle, I do them because exclusively because of the rewards, for me it's nowhere near Gwent in Witcher 3.

There is a special place in hell for the developer that created the map of Gongaga in this game.

It looks incredible great, love the art style but the navigation is an absolute joke seriously

Yeah it's by far the worst map of the game. The only map where I went for the towers to highlight everything instead of discovering things on my own... and even then it's still a pain in the ass to navigate lol

The music for gongaga doesnt help its case. Awful track for background music in an open world area.

Don't you need to activate the towers, though, if you wish to complete the region's 'tasks'?

Yes, but you can leave them for last and discover every other PoI on the map without them. Yep, I'm one of those weirdos that turns on exploration mode in Ass Creed games lol

Nah, I get it - a lot of people can be turned off by the constant 'quasi' hand-holding of the game where exploring is concerned. An owl to guide you to landmarks, a chibi-chocobo to show you the nearest pit-stop, etc.

About 14 hours in. I'm in Junon. It's much better than Remake so far, but there are still issues.
  • I can't decide if stuttering is worse or better than Remake. It varies a lot.
  • Image quality is shit without DLSS4.
  • Tons of dithering in shadows, reflections, and hair. Clearly not using a new enough version of UE to fix these things
  • The menu system is absolutely horrific. Difficult to understand, hard to read, and just needlessly complex.
  • The weapon upgrade system sucks. It should have been removed entirely.
  • Spell casting animations are still too slow. There was a mod for remake to fix this so hopefully that happens again.
  • Why do I have to go to a fucking Chocobo ranch and pay money if I want to fast travel between regions?
  • The folio system sucks. Why can't it just be accessible from the menu instead of requiring me to find special locations to use it? Also, why does it look like ass?
  • Item transmuting is an unnecessary addition that should have been removed.
  • Can’t change loadout during battle. So let’s say I enter a fight where the enemy is particularly weak against wind or something, while maybe being resistant to something else. Well, if I don’t happen to have wind equipped or only have what they’re resistant to equipped, then I’m fucked and I should just reload my save, redo my equipment, and start over.
  • Open world is just an Ubisoft checklist of bullshit

Did you do the Direct Storage file swap?

Ive just started chapter 9, theres a freaking weapon upgrade system?
Well, kinda. I forgot that it's totally different from FF7 Remake; all that stuff is now part of the Folio system.

SP raises your weapon level, which provides passive bonuses. You equip weapon abilities and then use them to master them, which allows you to use them while a different weapon is equipped.

Yes. Your weapon automatically upgrades and provides bonuses. Some of those bonuses requiring equipping at the materia/equipment screen.

There are so many pointless fucking systems and mechanics in this game.

Thanks guys, it's a bit unintuitive, never seen a system as unnecessarily complex like this, but i think i've finally got the hang of it now.

The menus are a bit overwhelming, but the game is otherwise really enjoyable.

I thought it was fucking awful. Easily the worst map from the game (so far)

for me it felt like a vast, open biome brimming with potential to explore, but unfortunately, it feels quite restricted in terms of what you can actually do

Agreed, but I am using a mod that fixes it

I love pc gaming
Cheers for this, Played through the PS5 version and absolutely hated the complete toilet music for this area. Nearing Gongaga now so will for sure use this to avoid ear cancer.

These guys are already trying to upscale some of the most ugly textures in the game

I am trying to convinced them to go around the most ugly ones that appear during cutscenes or gameplay situations. They seem quite receptive and are eager to do it so if you guys come across bad looking assets or textures, make a screenshot and upload it in the mod page.

Hopefully they can fix most of these ugly textures 🤞

It'll be further refined in Part 3 as well, so expect an improved version of it.

I liked how it was in Remake, you can choose whatever you want, end of story, here it's done for you because reasons.

I fully agree with these 2 points. The Folio IMO is illogical, weapons, materia improve naturally as you use them, but skills, abilities, no, you gotta visit someone.
Open world, that's my description of it as well.

Playing on PS5, fresh save and going through all the side stuff this time, at launch I skipped all of it and made it to Costa del Sol before dropping it. In my current playthrough I'm on the boat en route to CdS.

I'm really enjoying the game but the pacing is kinda shit and the script isn't as good, at least so far. It has had a few moments but nowhere at the level of FF7:Intergrade IMO.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth had a fantastic Steam launch. Across physical & tracked digital, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth was the best-selling game of the week ending Jan 25th in the US market ($ sales), while the FFVII Remake & Rebirth Twin Pack ranked 3rd. Source: Circana Retail Tracking Service

When I was tracking the Steam charts 6 weeks out from release, Rebirth rarely left the top 20 every week and Remake Intergrade was consistently in the top 30-50. This has clearly done some decent numbers upfront, and SE's aggressive marketing strategy to give 30% off the game and also 30% off the Twin Pack with Remake Intergrade for almost 2 months has paid off for them.

Hopefully this gives them the bump they need to start taking PC releases more seriously, to spruce up on their ports and offer D1 releases going forward. The audience is there for them.

This is just another data point that proves that peak CCU count isn't everything.

"At the very least, it seems that Final Fantasy 7 Remake "Part 3" and Final Fantasy 17 will launch immediately onto PC if Square Enix can get its developer pipeline synced up between console and Windows. These latest sales figures will likely encourage Square Enix to expedite that process."

I really hope this is true

I think it's a given, or at the very least they'll be coming to PC within let's say 1-6 months rather than the current 12 month.

The final part when it's announce and then released will also drive interest and sales into the first 2 games, like we've seen with Rebirth. Perhaps in an even bigger way.

Yeah, I don't think that Part 3 will be day one on PC - don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE it if I am mistaken, but I don't think it will be day one. However, it'll definitely NOT be coming to PC any later than six months this time.

Would love to know some actual numbers, not gonna lie.

If the game has truly hit 400K sales in one month on Steam, no less, that's good. It may hit a million by the end of the year, which probably more than covers the expenses of the port. And if they follow up with a Switch 2 release, that could also land another million, maybe more.

So Square looking at +1.5 - 2 million extra sales will definitely make them see that multiplatforming is going to help them. They just need to believe more in their marketing.

So... why do you all hate Gongaga? It was the best map for me, at least I had to engage my brain when exploring. A bit of environmental puzzles to change things up was needed. In general I like this kind of map design (if you played Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns you know what I'm talking about). Also, it's beautiful.

Gongaga enjoyers, where are you? :messenger_bicep:

i can see the complaint but i dont think it that frustrating either.

i enjoyed it and i dont see it hard to navigate. just need spend bit time figuring out the jumping point thats all. never intended to be straightfoward.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Does anyone know why the hair looks like complete ass in Rebirth vs. Remake? Is it because of DLSS and the game not being at native res?

These are at 4K max, DLSS, Dynamic Res max 100%, Dynamic Res min 66%, cutscene and gameplay:

This is Remake, also 4K max:

Yes, it does this with the PS5 Pro too.
Some places it looks okay others a complete mess.
Grainy look compression artifacts everywhere too.
Best go natve, that's what I did.
Don't care if it 60fps if it looks like I'm playing it on YouTube.
