The Equalizer is basically man on fire 2. How can you not like it?

It's really not. That film at least had a revenge plot that made sense. Fuqua had to go to great lenghts to come up with a shit excuse for Washington to wreck havoc in The Equalizer. Which wouldn't even be a big problem if he didn't use more than an hour for it.

"@danroan: We understand Oldham Athletic are indeed the L1 club reported to be offering Ched Evans a return to football."

If he does play in England again, maybe it'll encourage opposition fans to have anti- sexual violence campaigns etc.

You're over analysing it. I mean the boss fight is in a diy store. It's dumb fun.

Good one :p

But yeah, the scene at the DIY store was one of the things I really liked about it. This film was perfect for a 90 minutes action flick. Why did we need see so many conversations between Moretz and Washington at the beginning? We all knew what her story was right from the first time. I think it would have done the film good if they had chosen to just set up the side characters very minimal and go all out with the action scenes. Pacing is what wrong with this film. And the funny thing is, he took so much time to introduce Moretz and in the end her character still got zero depth. Now that's just a waste of time.

Told my parents I didn't like The Equalizer and that they shouldn't watch it. Apparently they seen it last week and of course my dad liked it. Told me he'd expected me not to like it. He thought the film had a great story. Then I told him the drama part was pretty half assed and one scene with Bill Pullman in the middle was an ever bigger waste of time. His closing argument was that I over analysed it

Nothing to analyze, it was shit. And that last segment was so fucking boring

Apparenly my mum was also a little upset I had to 'demolish' that movie. I basically told them what's in the post above and said I didn't like it. Parents are mystical creatures sometimes :p

Do not judge Ralph Fiennes if you haven't seen In Bruges.

No, do not talk about anything unless you've seen In Bruges.

Go now.

The inanimate object scene still kills me. So fucking brilliant

The Equalizer was awful. Didn´t really knew if it wanted to be a serious drama or a fun action movie and it failed on both departments. In terms of action scenes, John Wick makes The Equalizer look like a Teletubbies episode.

I did like some of the action scenes. The final one was great, with his improvised weaponry. The scene with the cops and the one at the start were good too. Only didn't that I didn't understood was why every action scene started with Denzel going into focus mode or whatever the hell it was supposed to be.

Gotta see John Wick.

Speaking of great actors, JK Simmons is getting 'Oscar buzz' for Whiplash. Looking forward to seeing. He won't win an Oscar though, if only for the fact that someone so low profile doesn't win them.

He's on my list of actors to contact for this book project. Big list. Wilbur undoubtedly despises most of them.

Torres bagged a goal in a practice match this morning before his presentation -

It's like when someone's kid is on the field before five-a-side.

Ched Evans in talks with Oldham. Hmmmmmmmmm

----

Also Daniel Taylor wrote an atrocious piece of shite in the guardian im not even gonna bother linking to to avoid giving this hack clicks.

Cements himself as the worst football writer in the country by a street. Takes some doing to beat Henry of Winter. Utterley pointless drivel with potentially libellious allegations against Jack Tordoff.

What was it about?

Mixing politics and football. Then summat about Martinez and a weird bitter ending about Fergie getting a knighthood.

We are going to lose today.

Because Fletcher will start :(

Him being the match day poster boy breaks my heart.

There's Mata, bless him, saying it's going to be a physical battle, and we're sending an unfathomably weak and confused bloke out to hold our midfield together.

LTTP here, but when a thread in OT pops up asking "you're stuck on an island, what three TV shows do you take with you?", I will answer

1. Kane's nutmeg of Terry, followed by Terry's forlorne face, until the end of time.
2. Kane's nutmeg of Terry, followed by Terry's forlorne face, until the end of time in slow motion.
3. Kane's nutmeg of Terry, followed by Terry's forlorne face, until the end of time to 'Crazy in Love'.

Sensational.

Arsenal are a fucking sensational club, just impossible to hate those lovable bastards

for the second day running, Podolski has been unable to actually train with his new teammates, sent to work separately in the gym.

This is because the international transfer has not yet come through from Arsenal

:lol what even :lol :lol

I've never found Daniel Taylor to be a particularly good football writer. Content of his weekly column is usually pretty boring, and I don't really like his style of writing. He has occasional good articles and he is the head football writer at the Guardian so he must have his fans.
