Man of Steel is one of the worst movies I've seen in the cinema, don't know how it having a few decent action scenes makes it somehow not complete shit.

You people must've hit your head at some point and gotten amnesia.

There's lot of good shit in MoS as well as a lot of bad shit.

Except its action scenes aren't decent. There's no build up, no tension, no release, no cohesion, no rhythm, no smart choreography.

The greatest sin of any action scene is not making me care why it's happening.

Yeah it's one of the few films I've really regretted seeing in the cinema. Complete waste of money. I knew it'd be shit from the reviews yet I still went, more fool me I guess.

It really is going to be beyond awful.

I found the Nolan Batman movies to be shite and the Snyder MoS movie to be worse.

So combining them with Snyder at the helm is going to be a special kind of souless style-over-substance shit fest.
I don't understand how Snyder gets these gigs. Especially after Sucker Punch which was a genuine travesty of a film.

Saw MoS in cinema and thought it was ok-ish aside from the mind numbingly over done actions scenes which gave me a migraine. Oh and the dialogue being GCSE level bad. Cavill was alright.

but saw it recently on DVD recently and its real bad

Giving any big property to Snyder is comedy though. Bloke makes films with the depth of a thimble. More interested in dress up and things going boom.

over and over and over and over and over again

then again

then once more

then one for luck

Think Batman v Superman is going to be much better, considering they have Terrio on script and Affleck basically as assistant director!

studio executives most be powerless to the blue and silver look of all his films. Snyder is a hack. Sucker Punch is one of the worst films of all time, I'm sure MoS is crap, and his Dead movie sucks too. Anyone could of directed that movie. He somehow gets credit for adapting 300 and Watchmen word for word onto the big screen. He should be directing music videos yet he has fooled hollywood into thinking he is some great director.

...hate me...

I have a friend who says it is the best movie he ever saw. He says it 50/50 serious/tongue in cheek.

Never saw it myself.

But Watchmen was half decent, I'll tell you that.

Execs are scared to give these big budget movies to newcomers. Snyder is a safe bet. Sure it might be shit, but it will make enough money.

Exactly, they love directors who can plan and make effects movies on budget and on time. They'll make enough back on investment that they don't care that much about the final quality of the movie. The marketing budget will take care of the rest.

I found it very mediocre. Didn't see what the fuss was about.

It was fun. Made me chuckle a few times. Nothing fantastic mind.

Like Avengers 2. Dunnae how i'm meant to be slightly interested in that

gee i wonder if these characters who have massive separate franchises and are on huge contracts will be in any sort of peril. ooo but there might be some teases for some other franchises

Just not for me I guess. Different strokes innit

Speaking of films to look forward too watched Kill List earlier and oh BABY am I excited for High Rise this year. Ben Wheatley is the fucking man.

Right, guys like Snyder aren't artists, but they sure as hell know how to manage a large scale production, which is a valuable quality in the eyes of execs. The public doesn't care, but it does matter.

I think you could give Superman, X-Men, Spiderman, etc to any director and the film will make money. the big name comic films are gonna sell themselves. Bret Ratner directed X-3. I don't think you can get a someone with less vision then him and it made a ton of movie.

Not the point. It's about having the skills to put out a big special effects fest on time and within the budget provided, rather than being able to craft a good film. Also why Michael Bay is popular with studios. Transformers Age of Extinction was one of the worst movies released last year and was also the highest grossing. Studios know your movie doesn't have to be good to make a profit, just shiny and produced within budget.

Although I just saw you mentioned Brett Ratner who is the epitome of being the studio friendly director.

Why no Batman & Gotham in Arrow-verse? Free, pls. :<

Fucking hilarious and fucking stupid, that was.

Some sort of stupid rights issue they have. like they want their TV and Film universes to be completely separate, which allows them to choose certain Batman characters and names, but not Batman/Gotham themselves.

I hope that makes sense :lol

Edit: Actually, they mentioned Bludhaven which is where Nightwing hangs out... lol

can you people talk about how bad the editing in wolf of wall street is instead

Scorsese just sees editing as a means to an end :lol.

The last half hour of Goodfellas is the only film I can think of where the editing is anything exceptional. Raging Bull's is gud too

In the past two weeks I saw

Intersteller
Gone Girl
Godzilla
Boyhood
Inherent Vice
John Wick
22 Jump Street

I am trying to make up for having seen almost nothing else this year. I still need to see Birdman, Nightcrawler and Whiplash.

i'm an idiot. i was actually referring to the adr.

wolf has truly awfully bad adr.

Tbh I was fucking confused by your initial editing complaint. A movie of that run time de-values the role of editor imo. That said I think it's quite a tightly composed movie personally, never dragged in any particular section.

Haven't seen Boyhood. Dunno when John Wick is out.

please tell me what you thought of all those films

Yeah, that too. I remember an interview with him where he says as long as you can follow it and get the gist then it doesn't need to be perfect.

:lol it was so painfully stupid. Hurt my brain thinking about it.

How did Luc Besson get from Leon to Lucy =(
I saw it in the cinema and I kind of liked it because it's only like 90 minutes. I don't mind a movie being incredibly stupid if it's also really short. The guy from Old boy was pretty good too.

I dont mind a bit of stupidity in an action film (hell, many of Arnie's action roles are some of my favourites, what a legend), but dear lord this took the cake :lol
