No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
I’m not a big Harry Potter fan or anything, but I went to Harry Potter land in universal CA earlier this year and it was dope. The architecture alone is worth the trip.

But holy fuck I HATED the Forbidden Journey ride. I have never in my life been so close to puking on a ride before. Plus it broke down halfway through, so I had to just sit there, dangling in the air, dreading when it would start back up 🤢

It was sick. I’ve only read the first 3 HP books back when they came out, and only have seen maybe the first few movies, but I could tell it’d be a dream for HP fans. (Though I do watch Wizard People Dear Reader like once a year 😂)

If you ever go to the UK for a vacation, go to Alton Towers. That theme park is the real deal! The Smiler ride gets my recommendation.

this is obviously fake and not the real Hogwarts

according to the original map drawing. Hogwarts is much further away from Hogsmeade. for starters....from this angle Hogwarts would be off to the right or left! also, where the hell is the Quidditch goal posts which would be visible in between Hogsmeade and the castle?

also, the castle doesn't look anything like the castle from the movies which this is obviously copying! the castle's exterior appearance is less vertical. there are lots of turrets but it's more spread out.

cheap rip off for Muggles. you can't even see Hogwarts unless you're a witch/wizard. You can't even get NEAR Hogwarts if you're a muggle.

this is my pathetic attempt at a joke.

Coincidentally I recently started watching the movies for the 1st time (Never read the books, the 4th movie is up next) and I find it quite enjoyable!

I had this prejudice that it was silly kids stuff but I was mistaken 😊

I now understand what it must have been like being around 10 years old when the 1st movie came out much like when I first saw Star Wars in 1977 at 9 years old.

i faintly remember trying to read the first book at school in 1997 or 1998. everyone was talking about it. never could read much at that time so it wasn't until 2000 when the 4th book came out that i tried reading again. i asked my mum to buy it for me and i got to page 85 (not sure why i still remember the page lol). eventually i got the first 3 books and that was me hooked. i even convinced my teacher to have the whole class read the 5th book when it came out!

I’ll get around to watching the movies eventually. The later ones just seem sooooo long. My short attention span can’t handle all the exposition.

I also don’t like Lord of the Rings, so my opinion is invalid to most people 😂

they'd be even longer if they didn't butcher the books.

1-2 are quite faithful to the books. 3 is where they start to cut shit out but still not bad. 4 is an absolute mess and so is 5. 6 is a little better but misses out a lot and instead focuses on being more of a teen romance film. Deathly Hallows Part 1 + 2 are really good, i think, but they fuck it up at the end with the final fight between Harry + Voldemort which is dangerously close to ruining all the movies. All this build up for that shit? fuck off!!

Hopefully the TV series is much better when it comes out. The first book is apparently gonna have ~7 hours which is about 5 and a half hours longer than the movie got and again that movie was quite accurate to the book. When they get to book 3 that is when they need to start paying attention.

Oh god up until this point I thought you were talking about LotR, and I was about to be like “JESUS how many movies did they actually make?”

While I don’t enjoy reading fiction, I’d probably give HP another chance since those are pretty easy reads. (It’s not that I don’t like fiction, it’s just that I have both ADHD and aphantasia, which makes reading fiction a pretty terrible experience. I really enjoy non-fiction, though.)

you've confused me now lmao

yeah LOTR is fucking long. i refuse to watch anything but the extended editions. You need to set aside 10-11 hours to watch the trilogy. God help you if you want to put yourself through The Hobbit movies.

I have a terrible feeling this new HBO series will kill off the franchise. I'm still pissed off with how the Warner Bros let writers ruin Fantastic Beasts.

If it makes you feel any better, I have like 10 LotR Lego sets, and those are all dope.
Also like ~10 Harry Potter sets actually

V1LÆM V1LÆM Putonahappyface Putonahappyface Tell me you guys have seen Wizard People Dear Reader, though. Literally one of my favorite videos/movies ever, it’s so expertly written and so dumb.

If you haven’t, I have a copy on my personal Drive I can send. It’s so stupid, but sooo funny.

never heard of it
It’s one unhinged dude, Brad Neely (who has written for South Park and has had a few Adult Swim shows I think) turning the first Harry Potter movie into a book on tape by overdubbing the ENTIRE movie. He only loosely follows the plot, and makes so much shit up, but it stays consistent throughout the movie.

And he has this awful, droning, monotonous voice that makes it kind of hard to listen to, but somehow funnier on every viewing.

If you like “dumb but clever” humor, it’s great.
