The latest Gran Turismo game is now officially Sony's most successful entry in the racing franchise in terms of revenue. A new report mentions that Gran Turismo 7 is now the highest-grossing title in the series in the US.

The title, which was released in 2022 on the PS4 and PS5, is now no.1 in dollars earned but only has the fifth spot in terms of units sold.

The sales info was shared by Mat Piscatella, Executive Director & Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana (formerly NPD), stating, "Gran Turismo now ranks 1st in dollars and 5th in units among all Gran Turismo franchise releases."

Yeah, games are 70 bucks now.

The game is great( it is my most played game of all time, 700hr+ and still going strong) but has obvious flaws. It needs more events( especially one's with decent pay) and needs far more endurance races as well. It is weird how gt7 has the best weather and time system in a racing game yet still is lacking in the number of events that take advantage of it. Handling is way better now with the recent physics update but the latest one has made the game a tab bit too easy. Would definitely recommend to casual and racing fans alike

Of all the Sony IP this one makes the most sense to port to PC. It would probably sell 20M units easy as there's no competition. So, of course Sony doesn't port it leaving all that money on the table.

GT 5 and 6 will probably keep my PS3 hooked up to the TV for as long as I live lol.

Thankfully it has a robust offline mode to play during the outage.

Which would also stop some people from buying them but also it hasn't been out 3 years yet next month will make 3 years so to reach that milestone in under 3 years it's still an achievement.

Probably making a ton on dlc as well.
The game doesn't has any dlc. It gets free updates and has mxts but there is only one in-game currency and you can grind it and buy every car and unlock everything with just regular gameplay. Haven't paid a single dime nor grinded, yet I have 90% of the cars and have unlocked every event and every track( even completed everything). I only login once a week, nowdays, to do the weekly events, but the mxt model of gt 7 is probably the best in the industry.

I respectfully disagree on that project cars 2 and Driveclub say HI.

Can you run the Nurburgring in winter season in a blizzard in the middle of the night in GT7.

The GT series still has a long way to go to match PC2 and DC in that regards.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
tbf, it's Gran Turismo GAAS outperforming Gran Turismo traditional model.
but not every GaaS out there able to churn out content like gran turismo though, and gran turismo has alot of content during launch.

The same cant be said to alot of GaaS or upcoming GaaS.

I don't actually know what there is to spend real money on now that I think about it lol. I think in sport or maybe this there was an option to buy cars but I was able to turn that off in the options and never saw it again.

The fact that it's the fifth best-selling game of the series in the US seems to be way overlooked.
It must be like this in terms of units sold, correct?
1.- Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
2.- Gran Turismo Sport
3.- Gran Turismo (PlayStation)
4.- Gran Turismo 2
5.- Gran Turismo 7
6.- Gran Turismo 4
7.- Gran Turismo 5
8.- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
9.- Gran Turismo (PSP)
10.- Tourist Trophy

Probably if you really really want a car from the legends dealership? It's thoroughly unnecessary and is never really in plain sight( only visible when you buy a car but then again I just double press x and never even read the mxt option).

Oh no I savored the grind for my f40. Wouldn't dare pay $ for it.

I was pissed when I realized my deluxe edition came with the castrol supra. I was so pissed. I sold it and used the money on cars I don't like. Then I could buy a starlet and start working towards that castrol supra as god intended.

Grind is one of the best part of any gt game. Personally, I feel gt7 gives too many cars too quickly. I started enjoying the game far more when I found a random car selector site for gt7( which I have also been using for weekly events).

Good game, great in VR!

Cons

Lack of new cars- Most updates the best are is a 2003 Civic. Needs more current high end and GT cars!
The stale single player and AI. Fix by Sophy AI thou.
A touch too Arcadey. Wall riding is a thing.

GT8 as a launch PS6 game with Sophy fully incorporated in single player, lots of 2020+ cars in all categories and even better graphics would be damn fine!

If that was true, the option for microtransactions wouldn’t be there.
There is no in-game menu I'm aware of that shows you the option to buy anything with real money. Most people wouldn't know they existed unless they searched for them. They're also useless as after several updates you can probably make more money in the same time it takes you to go to the store and take your card out. It's hard to believe that over 2 years later and people still complain about the same thing that is irrelevant, almost like they don't play the game.

Flipside of a common complaint: I like how there wasn't any abusable races. Remember running tahiti road to keep selling those old skyline race cars you won every time? GT was always most fun for me in the early game when the economy was strong and you had to make decisions with your credits.

That’s what happens when games are $20 more expensive and you have microtransactions in GT7 as well.
I have 650+ hrs in GT7 and 550+ hrs in GT Sport and have never spent a dime in microtransactions in either one of those games and still own all the best cars in both. Microtransactions in GT are for the very lazy and extremely casual as everything in the game is easily earned even with causal playing.

I don’t think any of these complainers actually play GT. I have earned hundreds of millions simply playing game. The game gives you money like free candy and doesn’t even make the microtransactions visible within the game. You have to literally go to the PS Store before you realize the game has microtransactions and they are a joke because $20 gives you 2 million credits which you can earn in your sleep and doesn't come close to paying for the rarest and best cars in the game.

Calm down, no one was complaining. My simple point was higher price + microtransactions = highest revenue of any GT title.

That said, I own GT7, and it’s very easy to buy credit packs, and the fact that you even mention here that you earn more credits “after several updates” means monetization in the game was even worse before than it is now. If the games economy was designed to be fair and rewarding, they wouldn’t need to sell you credit packs.
