Damn dude where you been and who pissed in your cheerios?

This was rumored as the PS5 rumors were making the rounds that this was what they were gonna do. I wish people get off this whole game pass mentality as these companies know whether or not if it’s suitable for them!

Obviously it’s not for SONY or NINTENDO!

This game pass mess was a last ditch effort from MS and it got y’all spoiled as hell and yet y’all still don’t by nearly as many games as the other consoles out there! Just look at the quality of games y’all been getting since gamepass? Hell y’all not even buying third party games in hopes it comes to game pass just like guardians of the galaxy just did!

I dont even have an xbox and i agree it was a last ditch effort. And the mentality of Ill wait till gamepass is not gonna be good for the industry in the long run In my opinion.

I guess rumours pissed in my cheerios. Too many ps rumours and “wait till you hear what we have in the works talks”.
I want to be able to download PS1/PS2 games like Nintendo’s Sub service. I dont want gamepass rival just PSNow + PS1/PS2 games for the download ( Well bigger than PS4’S classic library )

Im guessing Spartacus and PSVR2 hands on both have been in the news lately

GOW Ragnarok SOP will get a proper announcement at least a week before that it is coming like Horizon did. No stealth drop

It wouldn’t be a stealth drop to announce tomorrow a GoW SoP for Thursday.

I'm guessing these are the rumors. I am incredibly skeptical of the MLB rumor.

Monday: Deviation games acquisition: They are in the middle of a massive expansion and are very close to showing their game. It started development in 2018, could be released in 2023/2024. Sony has already acquired four of their second party devs in the past year.

Tuesday: Changes to PS+ / Project Spartacus, confirmation from Bloomberg to be announced this week.

The third thing: MLB The Show to launch as a PS+ game next week. I don't buy it at all.

Greg wouldn't be under an NDA. He doesn't leak what he knows and never has.

Sony's fiscal year is ending this week. It's not unheard of they would have something up their sleeve this week.
We already know about Spartacus....i wouldn't be surprised if more was on the way.
"something" is very likely to happen. But reading this thread, the expectations are already insane and there's only one way this thing is going to play out.

Highly unlikely. From is owned by Kadokawa, of which both Tencent and Sony have minority stakes in. Tencent owns 6.8%, Sony 2%. Even if Kadokawa wants to sell From, Tencent is going to have a say in that.

Not how that works.

6.8 percent likely isn't going to give you much control in terms of blocking a sale, particularly a sale of an asset.

It would make sense to announce a big game alongaide spartacus and say " This title you just saw will launch day one on the highest tier " or something like that.

It will certainly help Spartacus case. At least as it is now, it feels like a pretty dissapointing move that wont move the needle(since probably just the same people that subscribed to PS + will keep subscribing to it for the same reasons).

Gamepass was Xbox adapting the same Software as a Service model that MS has been moving to ever since they put Office, their biggest profit sector, on a subscription. Hell at one point they were going to make WINDOWS a sub before Apple forced their hand to make OS upgrades free.

I'm pretty sure they're the ones working on the Backwards Compatibility infrastructure that's been rumored for Spartacus (if it ends up being real)
What infrastructure? PS2 is emulated on PS3 through their classics program, just port that shit over. PSP and PS1 are already emulated on PS3. PSN still has PSP, PS1 and PSV games online right the fuck now for use on Vita. The only new thing they might be working on (if their balls finally dropped and decided to do it) is PS3 emulation. The odd duck is the PS4 which had about jack shit in this regard.

But that's consoles. To answer my own question, the only thing they could be working on, but absolutely aren't, is full emulation of their older devices on x86 so they can stream everything from their servers. They already have most of the emulation tech, the server infrastructure (which is already in use by PS Now) and the full design documents for everything they ever made. But time and time again, for the past 10+ years, Sony has proven they just don't give a shit.

I'm excited to see what the sub service they come up with.

I will be VERY happy to see some form of hardware announcement or tease. Probably just being hopeful here but it'll be nice.

I'm not saying they would have that control to outright block it, but they are the second largest shareholder of the company. They would have some sway. There is no majority owner of Kadokawa. The largest shareholder only holds 9% of the shares. Tencent is at 6.8%. Also, my point was that if FromSoft becomes available, Tencent would just bid on it themselves. It's not like Sony can make some backdoor deal with Kadokawa without Tencent's knowledge.

I can't believe the expectations in this thread.

There will be NO industry shaking acquisitions. Bungie was the closest thing to that and it ended up being a wetfart.

We'll get some news about a Spartacus blowout and maybe a release date for Ragnarok. Maybe a timed exclusive announcement with Capcom or something underwhelming like that.

Millie who was right in stating that Wolverine would be in the last PlayStation Showcase also tweeted this 4 days ago. Does anybody think this tweet has anything in common with what's coming next week? The poll ends in 2 days as well.

Nah, but this is different. I see them being a publisher and completely out of the console business. With the caveat of then having their fire stick like dongle for gamepass if it isn’t a native app on TVs already ala “stadia” like.

An acquisition announcement would make sense since we're a few days away from Sony's fiscal year end.

I do like the idea of Spartacus integrating game demos into the subscription service. Demo drop for Ragnarok and/or TLOU Remake would be awesome.
