"Looks like a rezzed-up PC port."
They really said that? Thats embarrassing.
"Looks like a rezzed-up PC port."
For the handheld screen improvement. Why would anyone buy this?
If that was the case the Switch Lite would be the best selling model, when in fact, the more expensive Switch is selling far better. The fact is premium models tend to sell the best. The masses care about the price because they buy this to give to their kids so they don't have to spend time with them. The only argument that matters is the price : the lower the better. They won't buy a more expensive model.
I don't think this will happen.it's way to fully replacing the current Switch
I’m probably going to get one, but that’s only because I don’t have a Switch already and figured I may as well get the newer one with some slight perks. I have one preordered already, but I may not even be able to get it since I’ve been getting fucked financially lately. Why would anyone buy this?
I found the truth hereIt's just a regular switch with a slightly brighter screen.
Why would it be foolish to upgrade to a much better screen and speakers if you primarily play undocked and could get a significant return investment on an OG Switch model? It would be foolish not to upgrade.I’m probably going to get one, but that’s only because I don’t have a Switch already and figured I may as well get the newer one with some slight perks. I have one preordered already, but I may not even be able to get it since I’ve been getting fucked financially lately.
Anyone who already has a Switch would be pretty foolish to get an OLED unless their original was like broken and out of warranty or something.
So why didn't they address the joystick drift issues and implemented a proper d-pad? Nevermind, it's a rhetorical question. FFS
Everybody love the Switch!... More light coming from its screen only means more love. It's just a regular switch with a slightly brighter screen.
Nintendo games usually have clear art design and vibrant colors. I dare say that Nintendo games might look kinda nice on an OLED screen.Contrast is very important and OLED displays have perfect contrast. I bet it is a big upgrade.
Exaggerating much?and just grab the vastly superior alternative? The screen is apparently banana's and a total game changer.
They're blowing this out of proportion. Now imagine if Nintendo actually gave their fans more power.. They most probably will explode.Interesting how a simple screen change makes some people cream their pants. Lol come on now.
Really not hard.
Yea. That was 10 years ago. Welcome to a decade ago.Ask people what they love about the Vita and they almost always say the screen.
The Switch now has that screen.
Whether or not it's worth it, is up to you.
Really not hard.
I think this Casey person works for Nintendo marketing....Exaggerating much?
And it's arguably still the best handheld screen of all time. So Switch getting one is kind of a big deal, especially since the Switch one will likely be quite a bit better.Yea. That was 10 years ago. Welcome to a decade ago.
I think people are ignoring this on purpose. Have a feeling those problems will still persist.
I’ve also got a first revision switch and it overheats on some games. I’ve been told I should just open it up and clean it out but we are an adult only household with no dogs/cats…Should I sell my CFW compatible OG Switch and buy this? Decisions, decisions...
Why would anyone buy this?
Dunno, ask all the people that made it sell out at pretty much every retail outlet that offered preorders lol
Excellent question at the end... and it should have been a HUGE YES, announced WITH the model... and supported for TV across the entire console range. Maybe they could have even implemented an "Auto HDR" feature like Xbox. I know I'm asking too much of Nintendo to put in some effort.if this 7" uses a regular pentile oled, the pixel density will look far worser
ps vita had to use rgb oled because of the lower resolution back then.
does the new oled even support hdr?
Err, yeah. Sure.Yea. That was 10 years ago. Welcome to a decade ago.
Bingo, and this 2021 OLED display obviously blows Vita's out of the water.Ask people what they love about the Vita and they almost always say the screen.
The Switch now has that screen.
Whether or not it's worth it, is up to you.

The strength of the new display (unsurprisingly) becomes even more obvious when turned on, immediately shining bright and clear from pretty much any viewing angle I tried. Honestly, it’s not an exaggeration to liken its vibrance to when the Game Boy Advance SP got an updated model with a far brighter screen, making the original Switch look noticeably dimmer if compared directly. Its colors are richer too, and I’m not kidding when I say Breath of the Wild’s grassy fields looked almost cartoonishly green viewed side-by-side.
Yup pretty much hypocrite gaf in full swing. Apparently a 720p screen was super shit until the gabegear announced it was going to have one then it's totally fine now, same with fps apparently anything under 60 was pathetic and now 30fps is totally fine. Guessing oled would be totally amazing if nintendo hadn't used one but because they did it's obviously shit and outdated tech.Err, yeah. Sure.
So does the steam deck have an OLED screen?
I just don’t get the phony shock. It’s an upgrade for handheld. Not really worth it for me, but for handheld gamers it could be.
And STILL no BLUETOOTH!"Looks like a rezzed-up PC port." It's the same resolution as the original with lower PPI. GTFO.
It's bizarre. It's A: far to heavy and lacking a good ergonomic design, B: has stick drift and C: no d-pad... Smh.
TBH,I mean, if you have the extra cash, you use your Switch a lot and you mostly play undocked then sure it might be worth it. OLED is really nice after all.
Keep in mind these early impressions are always full of exaggeration and hyperbole. I still remember the first hands on impressions with HD rumble where everyone was like:

And in the end it has basically just been slightly cooler (and sometimes annoying) rumble.
