Switch 2 Price Will Take Inflation And Affordability Into Account, Says Nintendo

People thinking it will be 400 U.S. will be dissappointed ...SW2. will cost 500 or more.

There ain't no way on Earth Nintendo sell this at $500 as the ONLY SKU. Maybe...maybe , some wild ass bundle with...on second thought no. I'll buy you lunch if it comes in at anything close to $500. (unless there is an OLED model, which there wont be but if it is)

I'm hoping for a $399 price tag, but I'm thinking it's more likely to be in the $449~$499 range. All I want is to be decent. At very least, in the same ballpark as the PS4 in the performance department.

The Switch 1 as a barometer for price is terrible as it is vastly outdated and overpriced as it is. And this thing is basically just an iteration of that. The chip (8nm ampere) is years old. It isn't using an OLED.

If this thing comes with like 128 or 256GB of storage it really shouldn't be more than $350 imo.

At every company (when employee asks about raises):

"Cost of living increase raise? Inflation? Sorry not familiar with that"

Same company (when providing goods/services):

"Gonna have to raise prices due to inflation"

I am absolutely still in the $400 camp and would be incredibly surprised to see it higher than that. Mind you I have no expectations of an OLED screen. Personally I would love for an OLED option at launch, and would pay more for that option, but I know that will be extremely unlikely to happen.

Obviously. They decided the Switch price under the same criteria and said as much. $399 or $499. Sweet spot is $399 but Nintendo doesn’t subsidize consoles by selling them at a loss so they may have to go higher.

I don’t understand this comment. Switch OLED is $349 and it sells better than the other two models combined and has for years, and it’s never had a price drop. 🤷‍♂️
If Switch 2 goes above the 4 it's a psychological disadvantage Nintendo would never take. 399 is a 3 and sounds much better.

This is a mass market device and should be accessible in price.

I understand Nintendo's plight concerning recent events beyond their control. Japan's currency is in the nose dive and since Nintendo wants to make a profit on their hardware, compared to Sony, I'd say judging from their history and, depending on the cost of the hardware involved, they may be pricing it quite a steep to get a profit, even if it might hurt them and gain Nintendo gamers' fury.

Hard to say how much enthusiasm there is for this. People are either I'm dead broke, no way, or want to show the world their dick is bigger than king kong and won't buy unless it has 5 5090s in it.

$399 and they will fly off the store shelves. $449 Mario Kart 9 bundle, still flies off the shelves. Switch 1 has to be getting a price drop and or a new model if they plan to continue to sell the OG. I can see them phasing out the OLED, dropping the Switch to $199 with a game, and the Lite to $129. It’ll still sell at those prices, while keeping a big enough gap from the Switch 2.

The last surviving nVidia engineer that worked on that chip died peacefully in his bed, surrounded by his family and his loved ones, with a smile on his face, of old age.

Of course it’ll be affordable.

I'm willing to have a peek at $500 or below. Anything higher is a "not at launch" situation.

Also, mostly the games. If there are compelling exclusives, then my interest rises.

In a world where a Steam Deck can be had for $399 it seems unlikely to me that Nintendo would release Switch 2 for more than that. I guess it is possible but it's tough to imagine Nintendo asking more than that.

Gonna be 400$ from the LCD version
updated version with bigger drive inside and an OLED for 500$

the source is my ass but I trust it.

$349 most likely. The highest they will go is $399.

350 on its own, 400 in a Mario Kart bundle is my bet.
with a sidebet on a "core" version that does not come with wrist straps or a dock, just a charging cable, for 300.

that last version seems like a steal, but if you think about how they then can sell you a dock for 80 bucks, and wrist straps for like 20, in the end you'd pay more if you want to upgrade (similar concept to the PS5 Slim Digital), which then will push most people to buy the 350 bundle with these things... basically, have a super cheap version and then upsell people to the normal one.

the 360 did it, the PS5 did it... it seems to work.
