I agree with you completely. He would definitely want the marketing to continue on, his life celebrated, and Jokers to go up everywhere in the world. But the fact remains that there are many people close in his life that are trying to understand and cope with this. To try and do that in the midst of a massive marketing campaign centered around the very person who died is just, well... not fair to them sort of. And remember, as far as it's looking like, we aren't talking about someone who committed suicide or ODed. This is someone who died in a tragic accident, not through a selfish act.

With all of that being said, I think once Warner is given the blessing of his family they will resume with the Why So Serious campaign. As you and many others are saying, there is no reason not to eventually. Just right now it may be a little too soon.

You don't think the man was hitting a serious stride with Brokeback Mountain, I'm Not There and The Dark Knight? A week ago he was an actor that we all expected to see amazing things from in the next decade. That short list just got shorter.

Besides, he did say "a bit less."

I don't mean any disrespect but his untimely passing is not going to bring Hollywood to its' knees. He was a great actor with a lot of potential but the same can be said for a fair chunk of young actors. It's sad to see such a young buck die so early but I'm not going to overplay the whole situation...

Just a month or two ago he was interviewed by MTV about Ledger taking the Joker mantle and Nicholson was openly pissed about not being consulted and about having the role redone. Shit, he kinda laughs and smiles when he says that he "warned him." This is a bitter, callous man.

(Then later, the sort of clarification in saying that he's warned "people" about Ambien.)

Indeed I have heard this as well. In the film supposedly there is a magical mirror so that people enter changing who they are, they could simply have a different variation of Ledgers character come out of one of the ends looking different. Gilliam and Depp both spoon together so total class act if so on both of their behalf's one for doing this in mid-production the other for not scrapping the used footage.

Apart from his openly rude, uncalled for, and obnoxious comments he really has to get with the program. Perhaps the man has yet to even view the trailer to see that Heath will be very good.

And maybe if the 70 year old slacker took better care of himself he would be asked back, but his style and personality is just incredibly self-centered and requires to much work.

Maybe he just didn't care about a movie someone else was doing? I mean god forbid. At the end of the day, it's just another Batman movie.

Wow. Maybe you should check the original source before making foolish statements. This hardly sounds like a man who is bitter about losing a role.

According to a MTV November interview, Nicholson was asked: "What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker?"

Nicholson did great, but I still think his role was inspired by Cesar Romero's Joker of the old campy batman series. The way he laughs in parts is alot like that. Nicholson's joker was just more evil.

I dunno about that. Jim Carrey was much closer to doing Cesar Romero's joker and as a completely different character as well!

lol I just seen this on TMZ.

Warrior is glad Ledger is dead because he made the film "Bendover Brokeback" & wished Hulk Hogan would be next.
He also seems to fears for his life from the internet smarks.


By today’s standard, though, I do have to agree that he was a great father. Perhaps even greater then the father of the year, Hulk Hogan. After all, Leather Hedger did what it took to kill himself. His kid is without a father, yes, but the negative influence is now removed and his own child has the chance for a full recovery. Hogan, on the other hand, won’t go quite that far. He insists on sticking around to keep further ruining, and profiting off of, the parentally mismanaged lives of his own children.

You know Warrior's gone off his rocker when ever *I* can't try and stick up for him on a rant. When he rips on WWE, okay, I can see that. When he speaks on dead wrestlers falling victim to their bad habits due to lack of responsibility... okay, I can even see that. But this one, sheesh. That's just bad.

They have a tribute going on for him on Channel Ten (Aussie TV). First is A Knights Tale and then The Patriot.

I've seen the movies a lot but watching it again won't hurt :)

I really don't like Nicholson as an actor these days. He keeps playing the same disgruntled old man (even in The Departed).

Saw 10 Things I Hate About You earlier today on Movie One's Tribute. Top movie, only took a tradgedy to make me see it :(

Im not sympathising for Ledgers death when I say this..but he was a good actor.

His performance in movies like The Patriot, Ned Kelly (which really shocked me to see it flop) and Broke Back Mountain are exceptional.

I disagree. I thought they were awful. Genuinely surprised to see people thought he was actually talented rather than the typical Holywood "eye candy" for the ladies and gay men. I mean, you can be eye candy and still be a good actor - George Clooney in anything from Sodeberg for instance. Indeed, you can be eye candy and a self-important arsehole in real life and still be a good actor... George Clooney again. I just thought Ledger's performances were so boring in all the films I've seen him in.

I certainly don't think Nicholson had anything to worry about.

But then this is all opinion. :)

Nicholson's Joker is a cartoon villain. It's utterly mediocre and fits in perfectly with the rest of the mediocre film. Ledger's portrayal of the Joker is based on a completely different take of the character. By early accounts it is a great performance. Why gives a fuck if Nicholson thinks he's the only one who should play the role.

did the "he laughs" part give away that he was probably just messing around and not ACTUALLY furious? I doubt Nicholson gives a shit. His Joker was and is still going to be iconic no matter what happened with Dark Knight. He's going to be remembered for that still so why would he really care?
