As I expected, Sony had a MONSTER Q3 in sales even outdoing last year's Q3.

They sold 9.5 million units in Q3... Astonishing numbers...

Even selling half of what they did in the previous Q4, they'll hit their forecast... With 75 million units sold at the end of the fiscal year, this also places the PS5 ahead of the PS4 LTD by 1.4 million... Doomers... what?!

MAUs rose to 129 million... meaning we're absolutely seeing growth in the PlayStation platform which must be coming at the expense of Xbox and PC.

129 million with 75 million PS5s sold means that there are 54 million PS4s still actively playing. I was right on the money with my predictions that we're looking at 125-130 million PS5s sold by the end of the generation. Reality if the MAUs are this high, we're probably looking at closer to 135-140 million if not more...

Even with the Pro, 42% of PS5s bought were new users so they are definitely growing the overall console market in my opinion.

I hope he is right. I am concerned that PS5 + Xbox is shrinking and that PS5 is not growing to compensate for Xbox decline. Maybe PC and Switch are compensating, but it is hard to know without someone putting out a paid market analysis.

A story was blowing up the past two days about the Discord; DF's Alex was one of the members, as was Klobrille (the guy who does Xbox posters for free) and some other people.

The ResetERA connection comes in the fact that IIRC, some members there (certainly people like Judge, who was an Xbox Ambassador at the time) were also in the Discord, and Alex has a ResetERA account that he uses semi-regularly. ResetERA also seems to have several members who only really just post Xbox news and topics like they're an automated RSS feed (Theorry, M.Wallace are two major ones).

There are other forums with the story, one of them has 'ERA' in the name is first published it along with screencaps, I'm sure you'd find it if you look (dunno if I can mention is here). There are some images with evidence tho like this one:

If Monster Hunter Wilds performs bonkers numbers, it's not impossible that the PS5 outsells last year's numbers... They need a really strong Q4, but it's totally possible depending on when January numbers dipped. It was always interesting that sony didn't keep their msrps down across retailers but did on direct. I thought it was a bad sign, but it's actually turned out to be a pretty good sign.

Ultimately, I don't think they have big enough titles in the west to get there though, but we'll see.

I'd still say the DF Retro stuff is worth watching; John puts actual effort into those and generally has a very fair & balanced analysis. The format used is also good. I'm waiting for their next PS1 vs Saturn genre face-off comparisons (multiplats)...I think it's shmups but could be wrong.

But yeah, he and DF Retro are the only DF content I genuinely watch anymore, and I think John'd get along way better with NXGamer than Rich or definitely Alex. Plus, he and NXGamer just dogwalk the rest of DF when it comes to technical analysis in general.

Rich must be paying him really good for him to stick around
