Keep my PS4 or get a Wii U?

I think this post sums up my thoughts.

Stop selling, reselling, buying, re-buying consoles.

You are losing money in the long run by going back and forth. Stick to what you have, save a bit more, and buy a second console then.

Otherwise you will be in the same situation once the market shifts again and you want to play a new game you can't find elsewhere.

In your situation I would keep the PS4 and save up for a Wii U. However, if you want to play something NOW then by all means go for it. There is a lot of fun, cool games to play on the Wii U. Just don't be surprised when you find yourself in the same situation later in the year.

Now, regarding the Wii U, I had one a few months ago but sold it to a friend of mine that had big financial issues, but had a son completely in love with Mario Kart 8, so sold it for a bargain and called it a day.

How much money did you lose when selling the Wii U, and how much will you lose on the PS4?

This cannot be a serious question. If you are a serious gamer who likes serious games you stick to PS4, if you're a gamer but you still think you're 5 years old then you stick with Wii u. No offense intended.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Ugh...why did you do that?

This is a terrible post. Must be a joke, right?

Since you have a PC, the Wii U is probably a better choice unless you happen to want Sony's exclusives more than Nintendo's.

Normally I'd say no, but seeing what you bought, go for it. PC will give you much more love than the PS4 is going to. I love my PS4, but the compromises made to even play last gen games on it is depressing. There will probably be a new PS4 model within a year anyway.

On the Wii U? A LOT. Had an external hard drive, more than 15 games, and sold it for less than $200, IIRC.

Not sure about the PS4 yet, but maybe you guys are right. Better avoid selling stuff for now.

I guess you don't want your account anymore.

This. Which franchises appeal to you more?

In any case, as someone who sold/rebought my X360 THREE times, you will only end up losing.

When Uncharted 4 comes out and everyone is losing their shit over it you are going to regret your decision regardless of how much you end up loving your WiiU.

Just keep your PS4 and get a WiiU down the road.

I'm weirded out by the fact that you state a "limited budget" and then state immediately afterwards that you bought yourself a pretty great PC... Seems like you could have cut back a tiny bit on the PC and had all 3. And selling one console to replace it with another doesn't make much sense in terms of financial efficiency.

It is just a dumb idea financially to sell your consoles just to re-buy them again down the line, especially if you are on a budget.

Sell the PS4. Do it, Do it now.

It's clear to me that nintendo is the only console maker with an ounce of respect for it's customers. Money and Time.

If you can only have one, then sell the PS4 for a Wii U. Your PC will play most of the content you'd get on PS4 anyway.

If you can avoid selling and simply buy a Wii U at a later date, do that. Selling systems is almost never a good idea, and it will lead to regret at some point or another.

Bayo, Smash and Mario Kart will keep you entertained for years. Bloodborne is 2 months away, in gamer time that is like 10 life times. Run out and start playing a video game now.

The limited budget situation happened after buying the PC. Health issues with the family.

Wow... You will last long.
Also, having a great PC is why I haven't gotten PS4 yet.

Since you have a solid PC the PS4 is largely redundant. Yes, Bloodborne is coming, The Order is coming, but if the 1st party stuff doesn't appeal to you it is wasted. Meanwhile, Nintendo's first party stuff is unrivaled.

Ditch the PS4, get a Wii U.

And I say that as a guy with a PS4, Xbone, and Wii U and I play the Wii U less than the others - but I don't have a PC worth a damn.

Really did not mean to offend anyone. I just don't see any reason to buy a Wii U for any reason besides Mario Kart 8, Smash Brothers & Beyonetta 2. The technical specs are not even remotely close.

I think it's quite clear you meant quite a lot of offense to any Wii U owner with that.

On topic, if you can get more than $200 for your PS4 I'd say go for it since that should be enough to get you one of the officially refurbished systems from Nintendo and that's how much I paid for my used PS4 around half a year ago. So you should be able to get one for around there whenever you want to rebuy. And down the line the PS4 games you're interested in will probably be cheaper than the Wii U games you're interested in at the same point in the future.

Yeah, definitely. Admittedly, the PC and PS4 have a very huge overlap in libraries right now. If the PS4's first party/exclusive lineup genuinely doesn't interest you at all, then you should probably get rid of it if you need the money.

- However -

If you're in a situation where you know you're probably going to want one again in the future, you only lose money when selling and rebuying a console. Learn from your Wii U experience.

There's nothing wrong with selling consoles, as long as it's definitive. It's selling with the intent to rebuy that's lunacy.

Wii U ain't going anywhere. Save some money and buy it when the price goes down even further. If you want to play the upcoming PS4 exclusives, then just keep it.

It's not sony 1st party vs wii u first party, it's console exclusives+sony first party vs wii u first party.

Like you said, it's a personal choice. for me, the wii u was a bayonetta box and has been borderline useless before and after that.

the ps4 does have a lot of crossover with the PC, though there are some things you just wont be able to play regardless

Or you could do the smart thing and stop buying and selling consoles. keep the ps4 and get what you want (bloodborne seems obvious) until you can get a wii u and some games and then you'll have even more choice instead of less.

This. Never sell a console you think you might want back in the future. PS4 is getting absolutely everything including lots of exclusives.

It looks to me like you intend to follow up one poor decision (selling your Wii U) with another. I think that you should stop selling your stuff, but if you decide otherwise I look forward to a future "Keep my Wii U or get PS4?" thread.

He has a pc, as far as exclusives go the Wii U would be a better pick for a "serious gamer"
