Keep my PS4 or get a Wii U?

If you sell your PS4, you're just going to want one again in a year's time or so. Keep hold of it and buy yourself a Wii U sometime in the future when you're financially able to.

So you're interested in two of the system exclusives, but you're concerned about the 'dry' period between March and Uncharted 4. Well...

That means, ignoring all the titles set to come out between Bloodborne and Uncharted, in the space of 11 months there are 3 titles you're interested in.

Why would you sell your PS4 now? Of all times?

I have a question regarding a statement I always read on here.

When people mention that PS4/Xbone has *insert high percentage of games* that are also on PC and the Wii U doesn't, don't people realize the reasoning behind this? Just filter out any upcoming PS4/Xbone game that will be on PC and compare it to the number of upcoming Wii U games and you'll see why that statement is pointless.

The Wii U has much more to play, I would go with that. I like my PS4 but in the few weeks I have had one I already finished everything I wanted to play from the past year. Selling a console only to rebuy it later will result in a loss so maybe it is better to just keep it.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Not too mention that "dry" month of games can be filled with PC games he hasn't played. This whole thing just screams Veruca Salt syndrome of "I want it now" more than long term outlook.

Keep your PS4 unless you like wasting money selling and rebuying consoles. Just cop a refurbished Wii U for $200 when you get the bread.

Even if you do have a good PC and play all multis on it, PS4 will have much more exclusives to play than Wii U in the near future. Sony will keep the games coming for a long time and Nintendo will kill Wii U in the first opportunity. That's the difference in support, it's insane. Well, it's your choice.

Its definitely a negative thing but a lot of the fans operate within the nintendo bubble so it somehow becomes a good thing. Yep.

First, selling and rebuying consoles is a terrible decision that will only cost you more money down the road. Those nintendo games will still be there later and given the console's situation, a price drop is likely to happen in the near future. Hold onto the ps4, play the Order + Bloodborne, and save for another Wii U.

Wii U is the perfect companion to a PC.

Even last gen, I found it very hard to justify buying a PS3 or 360 because nearly all multiplatform titles made it to PC. And I don't care for Sony or MS exclusives for the most part. Same thing is happening this gen, to an even deeper degree. "Exclusives" now just seems to mean "exclusive for 6 months and then anything goes." It's a joke.

Off the top of my head you will miss out (at least this year) on:

Persona 5
Uncharted 4
Bloodborne
The Order
Tomorrow Children
No Man's Sky
MLB 15: The Show
Fat Princess Adventures
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
The Witness

Plus potential E3 announcements that may release this fall/winter.

If none of those interest you then go for it.

Is that really all the PS4 exclusives coming this year? For some reason I thought there was more. Or does the 3rd party support really make it seem like the PS4 has that much more coming this year?

I'd just save up and buy a Wii U.

Unless you cannot afford to buy all of the awesome software available for it, and need the funds from the PS4 resale to get all of those glorious games.

My PS4 is basically a Diablo 3 box.

But that's because I hate all of the bullshit that is endemic to the PC version of the game; particularly not being able to have offline characters stored user-side, and the ladder resets in a game built upon core design principals, coupled with the insane choice to make trading not a thing, which makes the entire point of seasons moot.

Nothing else on the PS4 is even remotely compelling to me, right now.

I am cautiously not-completely-dismissive of Bloodeborne, after the travesty that was Dark Souls 2, so when that comes out, I might have another reason to boot my PS4 up, beyond the occasional Loot Pinata murder spree.

Beyond that, I'm hype for Persona 5 and Disgaea 5.... whenever they get released.

I don't think PS4+PC is a good match, but I don't think selling your PS4 is the answer since good games will be coming eventually. I agree with people saying wait for Zelda Wii U or at least Star Fox or Splatoon if they're any good.

Am i missing something it seems like people are ignoring the fact that a few months ago he sold his wii u. Most of the good games were probably out when he sold it so it would terrible advice to tell him to make the same mistake with ps4. Op just wait and buy it later you already had one and decided not to keep it no point doing this with another console. Below is the 2015 lineup off top of my head probably more for both.

PS4

The order 1886
Bloodbourne

Toukiden kiwi

Persona 5

maybe y's

Mlb 15

Until Dawn

Alienation

Tearaway unfolded

Ratchet and Clank remastered - maybe

Rime

No man' s sky

Uncharted 4

Wii U

Splatoon

Xenoblade

Starfox

Zelda

Honestly, it boils down if you can get the Wii U later and keep the PS4. If you HAVE to make a choice and will never own both systems at the same time, the Wii U is the smarter choice. Personally, I'm so into the PSN ecosystem, that I'd rather keep the PS4... then again, I DON'T have a gaming PC.

The worst thing you can do is selling the system then rebuying it later. I'm sure price will go down and most likely going to see some good bundles with the Wii U, if you're willing to wait for it.

You don't really make any sense. You are "on a limited budget", yet you keep making the dumb decision to buy then resell a console. Why would you buy a high end rig for yourself if you have "unexpected but important things to focus" on?

You come across as someone who is either trolling or has zero financial sense. Get your act together man, buying a new console and selling it a few months down the line is wasteful. If you have financial difficulties, don't buy yourself a high end rig. Selling a PS4 you already bought to then turnaround and buy a new WiiU is just idiotic, smh.

I would keep the PS4 for two more months and play the Order and Bloodbourne. Sell it and buy a Wii U. Play those exclusives and, if you want Uncharted 4, grab a bundle over the holidays.

A PC is a pretty good investment if you are on a tight budget for the foreseeable future. It has a high(ish) entry cost but with the amount of sales and free games it makes up for the initial investment very quickly.

Then the answer is Wii U. It simply has the better selection of exclusives today and from the looks of it in 2015 too.

It's like maybe you can live without The Order if you try your best.

It sounds like your mind is set more into the Wii U.

PS4 has a long life ahead of it. Wii U gets boring quick tbh.

Your PC is a better PS4 for the most part. I can't tell you how many exclusives would be out over the next 5 or 6 years but it's probably a decent amount of good stuff.

If you have a loud PS4 I would toss it. If it's quiet I'd hold onto it.

Those were just off the top of my head without looking it up.

I am sure there is more

There's also a lot of "console exclusives" like Hotline Miami 2 and Grim Fandango Remastered which I didn't include since OP has a PC to play them on.

Sell PS4 get WiiU, then Sell WiiU and get PS4. The only option.

If you're thirsty for games on PS4 wait until you see how real thirst is after you drink from what WiiU now has stored up.

Like you said, it's personal preference, so I can only tell you what I would do. With that in mind...

I'd go WiiU all the way. I think WiiU and PC is an awesome combination and it gets you access to most of the games you'd (or rather, I'd) want to play. No matter what you choose, you'll miss some games (unless you buy everything) so it's just a matter of weighing the games you get against the games you lose. I hang out with a lot of non-gamers, who like playing WiiU games. I love Nintendo IPs. And most games that don't hit WiiU seem to hit XBone/Ps4/PC. These reasons made WiiU and PC a good choice for me.

Granted, I'm reasonably confident I will end up getting a PS4 some where down the line. But for now, stuck with one console, I wouldn't choose anything but the WiiU.

Wii U is a great system with a good amount of really excellent games. That said, I would probably not sell my PS4 so soon unless you're really strapped for cash. Just save up and buy one in a few months time, or grab a refurb from Nintendo.

I'd say keep your ps4 and get Wii u later on of you can. Ps4 should be getting a lot of games for next couple of years

If you're not crazy interested in getting a PS4 again and you can live without Bloodborne which looks to be the only interesting exclusive coming then do it. You have a gaming PC, you're gonna get most of the third parties and with a Wii U you're set with the best exclusives.

While his statement was a bit ridiculous, having DLC doesn't mean the company's just as bad.

Now if you want to bring up the AC adapter with the n3DS XL, then you might have a point. But so far Nintendo's DLC plan (outside of Fire Emblem) has been more than fair.

He specifically used DLC as a reason that the other companies do not "respect" consumers as much as Nintendo.

Bodged releases and DLC. WTF indeed.

I have a high end PC, a PS4, Xbone, and Wii U and if I had to sell one it would easily be the Wii U. And I damn sure wouldn't sell the PS4 in order to buy a Wii U. The people who tell you that you will get better games going with the Wii U have blinders on and are the same kind of people who have been ignoring half of the PS4 library since it's release.

This whole narrative that the PS4 still has no good games and the Wii U is just shitting out hits is nonsense. Even further 2015 is going to be a much better year for the PS4 than the Wii U, so selling now is about the worst thing you can do.

I have a Pc and X1. But if I wanted/own a ps4 o wouldn't give it up for the Wii u just yet. Save around $50 for the next 6 months or so and get a Wii u then. Pretty sure Zelda will be out by then

In my opinion, you should keep the PS4, it's only going to get better in 2015 and onwards.
Wii U is probably done after 2015, as much as it breaks my heart (I currently have only 6 games for it). :(

I seriously doubt the Wii U will be done after 2015. People kept saying that nothing was happening in 2015 and it turned out to be stacked. E3 is around the corner as well and Miyamoto said they still have more games to talk about they haven't shown in one of his Youtube interviews.

Sell the PS4. Do it, Do it now.

It's clear to me that nintendo is the only console maker with an ounce of respect for it's customers. Money and Time.

Indeed. Critics may deride region locking as anti-consumer but it is done out of a sense of paternalism, it's for our own good. A parent can respect their child but still set boundaries for them.
