Killer Instinct announced for PC

Probably, but the part that confuses me is people say they now don't have to buy Xbox One's with such glee, even though they've still paid Microsoft for a Windows license and also a copy of the game on Windows, so Microsoft is still ultimately getting their money and absorbing them into their ecosystem.

It's odd and nonsensical behavior.
Yes, but we already have Windows PCs that can run the game, so that's not a new cost. And a lot of us already have arcade sticks and other controllers that work with said PCs.

What's more appealing: paying $40 for a game, or paying $40 for a game, plus $350 for a new games console, plus $150-200 for a new arcade stick that works on that console?

I'd like to think it's less about people being excited about not having to purchase an Xbox One due to some silly console warrior/MS vs. Sony thing, and more about people being excited that they don't have to spend $350+ on a system to play a single game.

I can't answer that as I'm not the kind of person who buys a $350 console for one game.

So great that it's cross-buy and cross-play. Keeps it one unified community and continue to grow.

Season 3 is a given at this point right? Get it to 27 fighters and maybe add a new mode (tag team?!)

Good.

More people should play KI.

I would port it to x360 for even more exposure. Arcades all over Japan would be great as well.

I see what your implying, but I personally see it as some PC gamers acknowledging that they don't need to buy another device to play maybe a couple good games.

Both the PS4 and Xbone have maybe 3 good exclusives between them that aren't on PC yet. Shelling out $350/400 just to play those few games is not a very tempting offer for many. The more these games get ported to PC the less reason we need to buy either console.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. For a strictly PC gamer, that makes sense.

Your fault for being Swedish.
"Help we need at this battle" Skin Skin Skin

It's growing on me :lol. It's just so shocking to hear Swedish sung in videogames, Legend of Mana's intro was even more shocking. Guess I'll have to main Spinal if he's now an undead viking warrior :lol

This. I'm a PC gamer, I clearly don't have anything against MS, lol, I just don't want to buy an expensive console for one exclusive. And now I won't have to :] And this is not the "defeat" some people think it is - I'm giving MS money for this game, that would not be the case had it remained an exclusive.

KI is a really great game, where developers are greatly involve with fanbase. NetKode is great, and a lot of online tournaments

Yesssss..............Now just port halo series & somebody from pc side purchase naughty dog or 343 and port all their games to pc. (I think pc gamers should shed out some money from all over the world with that amount we can purchase any good console game making industry)
With that we will stop the bullshitting & looting of these stupid outdated console industry.

If you can't do it then stfu & enjoy the game you play and let others enjoy too without doing baseless comparisons like how it looks. we play games to enjoy not how it looks.

Only thing that bugs me is that his name is Spinal, and they pronounce it all Englishy. If they're Swedish vikings and they sing in Swedish.. why would they even call their god "Spinal"?

It would be the *best thing ever* if they made up a Swedish name for him and sang that instead. Something like Pelle Hudlös.

Or something better.

doesnt seem like it will.seems like its their stupid store.

Honest question, but why does it matter where you buy it?

It's not like Steam where the store is the client that you need to have open all the time (or Origin, Uplay, etc). You buy it, it's in your installed apps list like any other program and you launch it without needing any other client running. Hell, add it on Steam if you really want everything in one place.

I propose Snorre den Skinnlöse :lol, but yeah, hearing "SPAJNAL!" in the middle of it is kind of jarring.

Windows + a computer + video card, etc is not cheaper than an Xbox. I'm not sure why people keep claiming this.
You save more money in the long term with a gaming pc, though. Games are way cheaper due to competitive pricing due to the market being an open one, plus you don't have to pay a yearly service charge for the opportunity to take full advantage of the games you're already paying more for on top of everything else.

This isn't even getting into the fact that the xbone and ps4 both had dated hardware at day1 in the first place, so buying a rig to outpace them isn't exactly expensive in the first place.

Pretty good news. I'm not good at fighting games, but I've always enjoyed them as an spectator. Maybe I'll dip my toes in KI... at least only because I love Maya's theme, City of Dawn.

It's still cheaper than Xbox One plus big TV, plus comfy couch etc. Ridiculous? Yes. But it ilustrates the point. For pc gamers it's cost of the game (PC version) vs cost of the game plus cost of the console (Xbox One version)

You seem to believe that the only reason why people wouldn't want to buy an Xbox is to not to give Microsoft money. I suspect that's far from that case for many people.

How about not having to spend hundreds of dollars on a box that they'll play one or two games (if they're lucky) a year on?

Why do ya'll keep saying this? You trying to make Microsoft take the games back? Stop jinxing everything!

It's some kind of a weird victory lap, shitty on a company while at the same time praising their games.

While some may be that malicious I don't think most are. There are people that want a game or two but aren't going to shell out $350+ just for that. Just because some people on GAF can buy Ferrari's when they're bored doesn't mean everyone is swimming in cash

i don't understand this.

why they annouce the xbox one exclusives on PC ? it's like they are giving people less and less reasons to buy an xbox one. " if i can get the game on PC, why spend money on a console ?"

Also, is it me or is the best system to own right now is a PC ? many high exclusives that are not available on the other system will be available on PC.

KI ? Xbox Yes PC Yes PS4 No
SF5? Xbox No PC Yes PS4 Yes
FF7R? Xbox No PC Yes PS4 Yes
Fable ? Xbox Yes PC Yes PS4 No
Shenmue ? Xbox No PC Yes PS4 Yes

and so on with many other exclusives. so why not just fuck it and spend money on pc only ? at least i know i will play these games whenever i want 10 years from now unlike the next gen consoles which most likely wont play old console games " or half assed play if any

I have absolutely no problem with people not wanting to spend money on something they're not going to use. I suppose I'm just conditioned to expect the worst from people when I see gleeful gloating.

Granted, that is my hangup and I've had a rough day, so perhaps I did lose my cool a bit.

Because lots of gamers want Microsoft to concentrate more on PC, and they're listening. Not all exclusives are going to hit PC, but it looks like they're concentrating on the ones that will attract the most players.

Dear Microsoft.

Just give us Rare Replay now.. and..umm.. to be honest... don't you dare leave the console space until you give us a proper handheld. Sega, TurboGraphix, Atari, and Sony all have. Your turn. Do it, please. Thanks.

But yesssss.... I will purchase this.

Hardware is a loss for Microsoft, it's all about software revenue and bringing gamers into the Xbox ecosystem, which now also exists on PC/Windows 10.

Phil talked a bit about it on the Giant Bomb stream, but he also thinks gating software as the reason to bring people into certain environments is a bad idea (as some people just never want to play games in a livingroom environment and vice versa). He wants people to be able to play games how they want (assumably as long as they're all in the Xbox ecosystem).

In the end it's all about moving software and getting more gamers under the Xbox banner, whether they're in the livingroom or moving around with their laptop.

because console gamers aren't going to spend $1000 on a PC? In fact even more because that's if you build it yourself and most people aren't about to build a PC, so we'll go with a minimum of $1500.

Yeah, everyone is gonna run to GameStop and trade in their $350-500 Xbox One to play Killer Instinct and Gears of War on $1500 machines.

yes do that please. with Halo 5 then cancel Xbox. no need for it. lol

smh. kinda annoying really to invest money on a console for its exclusive games just to see them being ported to another system which will probably have a better graphics / mods

You still get to play the games?

Why do console gamers hate when other people get to play the same game as them.

If you invest in a console purely so you can enjoy games that others can't, I don't feel you're doing it right.

Surely this is a great thing for you? If the only reason why you're buying a console is because you have to in order to play certain games, then not having to buy that particular console that you otherwise wouldn't buy is great!

You have a point about PC being more expensive than consoles. However, some of us already have a decent PC to play games on " like me for example with R290 ATI card "

Yet, i had to invest another 400$ on xbox one. That extra money spending could have been avoided if i knew certain games would come to another platform.

exclusives should be exclusive.its the reason why people for example buy nintendo platform or Sony platform. MS is totally doing it wrong.

i am sorry. but why did you buy an Xbox one for example ? " assuming you have one " isn't because it has exclusives games the other consoles don't ?

My post isn't about other people enjoying X games. i hope everyone enjoy all the games they want. Don't mix things up please.

My issue about investing money on a system for it's exclusive games when they are annouced on another systems. i could have avoided buying an X system if i knew the games i want to play will be available for another platform.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Sounded like crossplay. So yes.

Cross-platform play wouldn't require that the game be sold exclusively via the WinStore. I can MS going either way (Spencer did debut the Xbox app by showing off how it integrates with Steam, after all) and I wish someone would ask the question already.

Exclusives are not good for gamers. They are good for video game companies.
