Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

I've always been the type to enjoy multiple fighters, so this game looking as great as it does is perfectly fine with me. Waiting to see Infinite tomorrow.

Lol, is this a real post?

that guy's probably trolling but as consumers you should definitely want capcom to shit their pants at the hype surrounding the new dragon ball game :p

i don't think dbf looks amazing, i think the animations are worse than NRS games, but it still looks like a much more competently made game than MvCI.

i'm still looking forward to tomorrow's reveal of the game and i hope my fears of it being dumbed down like crazy are wrong.. but after SFV it's hard to trust capcom

Just no.

NO, you MUST choose!!
There can be ONLY ONE!!!

Nope, I'm going to pick up many fighters as I can if I could afford it.

i don't know man, i've played IJ2 for about 40 hours so far and I've yet to come across any animations as choppy as this

m5ypGjT.mp4

that frieza/cell tag in combo is like 1 frame dragged across the screen lol

Well, I would like to say that the game is still in the development so they might fix it.

Your are kidding, right?

Just because it's 3v3 doesn't mean people are jumping ship from a Marvel/Capcom branded title. I don't see any correlation between the two.

Well, you can count me among the first to say so, I guess.

This clip hits all the right Mahvel feels that Infinite abandoned:

m5ypGjT.gif

Somebody send me a "When's DBZ?" shirt that I can wear while I'm streaming MvC3 pools at CEO on Friday.

Oh Marvel Infinite was "done" quite a while ago, the writing has been on the wall. It's a potential under performer in the making like SFV.

What was saving Marvel Infinite was that it was the only "Marvel"-esque game out there (in the current generation) so it was covering a very unique space. DBF is threatening even that... if you want to play a fast, balls to the wall team action game then you can just play DBF.

DBF basically has to be competent game play wise (which it will be because it's ASW), not be loaded with DLC like Marvel and have enough characters in the game starting out. That's the floor that Marvel Infinite has set up itself.

Preach.

Pretty much the only reason why I'm even bothering with Infinite in the first place is inertia; I made so many friends through MvC3 and I'm going to keep rolling with that community. But if ASW doesn't fuck this up then it's a perfect excuse to move on.

24 hours away from knowing if this game is gonna be a complete mess or if Capcom will be able to save the hype...
For me, if tomorrow's announcments end up revealing that the leak is real, the small hype still residing in me will be gone. Even if they have a nice story mode (which I love in fighting games), it'll be no fun with a lackluster roster.
Anyways... Let's see what they'll bring! I don't know if this new DB fighter game is a threat to them, but people are looking to be very excited about it. They need to step it up!

You're the one trolling. It's miles beyond whatever turd NRS animates.

idk man

there are lots of people fed up with capcom. mvci looks like a low-budget cash in. if this new dbz game has legit mechanics (aka it isn't a one button masher or something) and has good online i really think people will just drop the fuck out of marvel.. and deservedly so. capcom is trying to feed us this low budget and possibly dumbed down crap and expects us to love it

I love Marvel games but have never enjoyed DBZ games despite loving DBZ. How meter management works in those games makes them virtually unplayable to me despite them being pretty true to the franchise.

Just because it's 3v3 doesn't mean people are jumping ship from a Marvel/Capcom branded title. I don't see any correlation between the two. DBZ games have been successful for a while and it has a good, independent, chance of outselling MvC:I though. Partially because Capcom's brand is so tarnished that people are hesitant to commit to anything on Day 1.
I have never given a shit about DBZ games before either. But this is clearly something different aimed at core fighting game fans. This is clearly marketed as an EVO caliber competitive fighting game.

In any case this game is hitting all the buttons that Marvel Infinite failed to do so. It may not play like a Marvel game but god damn if people aren't excited to try this out.

Like you don't think FChamp is going to be in on this game trying to make a team of Piccolo and Frieza work? People like Justin Wong are going to be ALL UP IN this game. Fucking even DaiGoku will try it out, I just know it.

Just saw Max's reaction video... pretty much echoing what most everyone else is saying. "Like Marvel but actually good" "This is what we thought Marvel would be like". And this guy is one of the biggest Marvel minions out there.

The Marvel brand is a huge part of why MvC is appealing, it's apples to oranges in a lot of ways even though yes DBF is clearly overlapping in the mechanics.

With how Xenoverse sold I'm not surprised. If MvC:I does end up like how Ryce describes, and when we find out what's in Xenoverse and it's more than that, then yeah, I'll say MvC:I is in trouble. I'm as hype as y'all about the sheer raw hype in that DBF trailer, but we pretty much only have leads on the roster and not featureset of MvC:I and know next to nothing about DBF, and it is developed by ASW so I'm cautious in the same way I am of Capcom, maybe even moreso since they're greater gameplay concerns I have
pre-ordered tho

C'mon son we saw a trailer and we're talking about how it's marketed?

They already said it's EVO caliber competitive game in that Japanese blurb posted before.

Nothing in my post was a lie.

Of course they are going to be marketing it to the casuals too... but having a beta this early AND have it be competitive (which means actual balancing) then that tells me that they want the FGC money too.

You guys think people will actually boo Marvel & Capcom during the Sony conference?

at e3? hell no, folks there are reasonable human beings who don't have that connection in the same way nutjobs like me do

if they do anything at evo? it's totally possible, haha
remember KI being booed so hard that they had to mute the crowd mics?

For what? A rumor that hasn't been validated yet (note: I believe it's true). I don't think everyone in attendance is that into MvC, at least not enough to boo a trailer.

Sorry, it was a weird dream I had last night, with the negativity & all.

I agree that it'd be more likely to happen at EVO.

Why would that make you optimistic for Infinite's featureset, though, when it has a September release date and we've neither seen nor heard much on this front?

You sometimes have to get out of the Neogaf bubble. I think MvC:i is mediocre as fuck, but sometimes the negativity echo chamber in GAF is too much..

It happened with Injustice 2. No surprise that it'd happen with a game that's actually similar to Marvel and much better looking.

Don't let the negativity get to you too much. Marvel is in a rough predicament right now, but you never know what can happen. Everyone's convinced it's already over for it, though. I don't, but that's just my opinion.

This does seriously threaten Marvel as the only thing can rival that brand is something like Dragon Ball. A lot of casuals will play a DB anything game sight unseen as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna buy it. But I feel like this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back to get the FGC to rebel against Capcom. Maybe I'm worrying too much, & I probably am.

I don't think DBZ is cutting animation frames to mirror 2D fighters. I think it is trying to mimic the DBZ combat animation style, where often you simply jump to the impact animation.

There isn't going to be booing unless there is something truly awful or tasteless in the presentation.

And for the record I don't think this game will cut into MvC I sales (mostly because it comes first). If MvC fails or succeeds it's by its own doing... not by its competitors.

GGXrd cuts animation frames for that exact reason, but doing so for DBF could be a mix of both reasons.

'We are happy to announce that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will feature no women in it!'
'But what about Captain Marvel?'
*cutscene appears of her being sent into deep space, Ono runs into the stage wearing a #notyourshield t-shirt*

I had the same thoughts, Neo.

So you're not wrong in feeling that way. It does seem like nearly everyone is against Infinite now. And rather quickly at that. Capcom and Marvel are to blame for a lot of this, though. They didn't market the game properly, and that leaked roster did insane damage to the hype all at once.

See, stuff like the lack of X-Men, weak roster, and overall strange choices just makes you realize how something like this can even happen when Capcom likely isn't expecting it.

I just hope this game can redeem itself. I'd hate to be hyped so long for a new Marvel, only to see it utterly demolished so effortlessly. The thought alone sucks.

I'm going to play both because I love both the Vs series and DBZ. When I get tired of superheroes, I can play Dbz--and vice versa. I personally think both will coexist quite well.

Well, if it's casual-oriented and they're on this accessibility wave, presumably that's where the effort is being poured compared to previous Capcom titles, right?

I expect something only slightly more rounded than launch SFV (which is still far below ASW/NRS par, however). EDIT: Or should I say slightly more rounded than MvC3.

You sometimes have to get out of the Neogaf bubble. I think MvC:i is mediocre as fuck, but sometimes the negativity echo chamber in GAF is too much..
Ain't this the truth. Also falling victim to the whole sales being the be all end all thing, although I know that's important to people who are invested in the FGC and want a healthy, enduring playerbase.

I thought it was just a straight application of everything they did in Xrd, animation style and all.

Didn't seem that off to me, though. Still pretty clear.

DBF is going to be the new Marvel. Kids these days grew up with DBZ just like we grew up with X-Men and Marvel.
Err I grew up with DBZ and Marvel. Kids these days definitely know one of those better than the other, and it's not DBZ.

TBH even though I have an affinity towards X-men, that doesn't upset me that much (and it makes sense why X-men were in original crossover games because 90's etc and MvC3 kind of digged into that pool too b/c MCU was just starting to get popular).

What upset me about roster was DD, Starlord, and Venom weren't in the launch roster and Capcom side is weak as fuck... Where is fucking Gene? Why only 1 DMC character? Why such little representation of other series? And I think a lot of people were hoping for remakes of classic MvC OG characters like Captain Commado, Jin, Venom (for marvel), etc... But gameplay still looks fun enough (I miss SFxT), so I'm still in.

Evo caliber? What does that even mean? Are we suppose to get hype because the game is Evo Caliber? This game will never pull the same amount of entrants a Marvel game would if we're bringing up Evo.
