Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

The nice thing about a dragon ball fighting game is that that roster is basically fool proof since it's really easy to please almost everyone with a 12-16 character roster.

What evidence is there to believe this, when the only character of the six we know so far is Sigma?

Well Venom was the first Marvel character leaked from Ryce, and there's a comic cover of him this year for MvCI so I'm assuming he's coming within the year.

One thing I'm interested in seeing is how MVCI and DBF will coexist in the tournament scene.

Most seem to think the majority of the MVCI players will stop playing it for DBF, but I don't see that happening. If both are great, then neither needs to take away from the other. At least that's what I'd think fighting game fans would want. As a fan of both, I don't want to see one trounce the other. I just want both to have strong scenes.

I love Marvel games but have never enjoyed DBZ games despite loving DBZ. How meter management works in those games makes them virtually unplayable to me despite them being pretty true to the franchise.

Just because it's 3v3 doesn't mean people are jumping ship from a Marvel/Capcom branded title. I don't see any correlation between the two. DBZ games have been successful for a while and it has a good, independent, chance of outselling MvC:I though. Partially because Capcom's brand is so tarnished that people are hesitant to commit to anything on Day 1.

Everyone is.

Seems like that announcement already took the remaining wind out of everyone's sails for Infinite. The leak started it all, of course.

But if Infinite has a great showing, people will probably get back on the boat.

Considering the terrible state of the roster, I doubt it. If they wanted to emulate Injustice they would have put in the most popular characters not left everyone confused and angry.

Can't wait for that hype GnG character reveal! Oh and Antman too. All that gameplay diversity!!! 2 and half hours of story mode evo moments!

I actually think there will be some salt this time around just because of how Super has been gathering steam. For the first time in like 20 years, Dragon Ball actually has some new characters to play with, and many of them have quickly become popular.

You better believe people are gonna be pissed if Nappa gets on the roster but Goku Black or Caulifla doesn't.

I agree, which is why I hope they abandon some of the "staples" of Dragon Ball fighting games like mid-game transformations, charging ki and all that shit. It just doesn't work well in a balanced fighting game.

If youre going by ryce, then he even said that he had no idea when he was coming. You're jumping to conclusions.

It's a bit of an odd issue to tackle, isn't it? On one hand, not having mid match transformations is more balanced, but on the other hand having a different character for the transformation quickly eats up roster slots.

Anyone who wants Nappa over Goku Black deserves to have their db fan card taken away

As in "Heathcliff"
Black Panther will be in this game be's probably in the 2017 season pass of new character dlc. That puts him way above the other 3 you mentioned.

Also if you want to know who would be perfect characters for people to put them in a same category with Ridley and King K Rool. It's Rogue, Psylocke and Gambit. :kappa:

Someone in here said a demo was going to be dropped on tuesday. Any more evidence that it's happening?

Wait and see at Sony E3 since they should mention something about it, I guess?

I think 30 characters would easily make many fans happy but not everyone tho. I really hope the gameplay would be good so that's why I'm looking forward for the trailer to see if it's good or not.

We've already seen gameplay. It looks good enough. The real issue is the visuals, the game looked rough both times they showed it and the hud looked like garbage. Hopefully they fixed that.

I realize someone, somewhere won't be happy if their personal favorite obscure character doesn't make the cut. My point was generally the usual suspects that people want in a db fighting game are almost always playable (goku, vegeta, piccolo, cell, freeza, etc)

Have you ever followed a DBZ game in your life?

I feel like with DBZ in particular the 'vocal minority' thing really strikes hard

the show itself is so lopsided in its focus that you can't take people hard lining for literally irrelevant characters seriously

With mvci and the rumors/confirmation of no fox characters in the base roster you knew people would be upset with no wolverine, no deadpool, etc. With confirmation of an mcu focus you knew comic heavy fans would be disappointed when they're popular comic character didn't make the cut. On the capcom half the smaller roster meant fan favorites were gonna be cut for space (zero, wesker, vergil, etc). You could have 30 per side and quiet a few people would be upset.

A db fighting game 8-12 characters is really all you need to have all the popular/fan favorite characters playable. After that you can simply fill out with next most popular till you're done.

Lol did you see the reaction to Xenoverse 1's roster?

Maybe, but I'm so bitter about the boring-ass MCU bleeding into everything else and ruining it that it'll take something very special to make me feel excited again. Arc making a DBZ fighting game really finishes it off...

We all are. The MCU stuff finding its way into games like this really kills excitement.

Capcom added to the problem with their uninspired side.

Gameplay better be on point.

I'm just glad DBF will be an option if this ends up not being all that.

Man, I'm glad the roster stuff doesn't ruin this game for me like it has you guys. I pity you.

Shit looks fun as hell to play, and thats good enough for me.

I'm actually glad MvC:I is 2v2 now, just because it means these two games aren't fighting for the exact same space. DBZ looked great (and I'm not a DBZ person!)

Honestly the gameplay is what will make the juice. I'm already going to grab MVCI but DBZ, if it plays as good as it looks and sounds to this point, could get more of my attention.

Here's hoping both are dope but a complete package is needed for Marvel to make a real dent, and the track record is shaky to say the least.

Imagine being the king of fighting games and having another Japanese company that's a fraction of the size make a game that looks 10x better then your tent pole cross over title.

I'm sure the two games can coexist but it just feels funny that amid all the bad press regarding MvC:I, ArcSys is just coming out guns blazing with classic mahvel-style 3v3 action and better-than-anime visuals that blow whatever Infinite's art direction is doing out of the water.

If anything, I hope it leaves Capcom quaking in their boots and realize that they gotta bring their A game's A game if they wanna keep up, making a better game in the long run.

DBF is also getting a closed beta, so they seem to be doing everything right.

MVCI has been nothing but frustrating with every news update.

DBF gets leaked the other day and it's already making great moves.

Damn, Capcom.

Damn near a joke at this point. But call me crazy... but I'm not counting capcom out on this one.... I think they bringing the thunder.

Contest of Champions looms over MvCI
